  1. Can't wait, Spoke to Nigel today, reckons on it taking around 2 hours to fit. Might take my laptop, headphones and rent a DVD to watch whilst in reception, along with a warm coat and a flask of Hot coffee!!
  2. Dave, how are you finding yours? do you get much in the way of booming and noise in the cabin?
  3. Just booked today for next Thursday Morning!!!!!
  4. my Brother has a 91 supercharged Mx5 that is nothing short of insane, at the last RR dat they had it pulled 180bhp+ and that was with the fuelling all over the place, he has put a few more sensors etc on it and it wil be rr'd over the weekend, he is hoping for over 200bhp. The MX5 engine is the old 323 turbo engine with the turbo removed so a turbo or SC literally bolts on with no other mods, turbo is good for a bolt on 220bhp, which will see off pretty much ANY SAXO, VRS, Hatch FWD performance car. Fun is what these things are about, yes you will find a few dogs around but a properly sorted one.....try om guy who is a regular on the MX5 Tuning scene with and engine you could eat your dinner off and 327bhp to boot.....outruns 911's for breakfast! I have driven my bro's car with only 180bhp and it IS fast!
  5. Cheers Roo, that's what I suspected, I just wanted to check prior to shelling out
  6. I have the shareware version of VAGCOM at the moment, I have tested it on my 03 Octy vrs and the chassis code 1U gives control modules fitted as being 01, 02 ( if auto gearbox) 03, 08, 15, 17, 19, 35, 46, 56. I can access all apart from 35 ( centr. Locks) is this under 46 instead as central conv, or is it a case of module 35 not being fitted? I just wanted to get this clear to make sure my ebay lead is working properly before I pay for the License to get full VAGCOM. Everything else seems to work perfectly so it would seem a bit strange for only this one module not to be accessable ( if fitted).
  7. Cheers guys, anyone know the cheapest place to buy one?? other than fleabay? :)
  8. Has anyone fitted an R32 steering wheel, like the one Edddy H has, to an Octy vrs, if so does the cover over the airbag fit straight on the R32 wheel, am I right in thinking that the cover is actually part of the Airbag module?
  9. Eddy, do you know if the cente section as well as the airbag from a vrs will fit he R32 Wheel?
  10. I have just bough this one off ebay, about 2 weeks ago, it all seems to work perfectly with release 409-1 and was very cheap, delivery took about 10 days. I am going to register the VAG COM shareware for full version ( even if you buy a 3rd party cable then find it won't work and have paid to license the software, you can upgrade to a rosstech cable and they knock the cost of the original license off the upgrade...or so I understand it unless someone is going to correct me). 11. ......I think that you will find that I have done everything prior to the remap....Brakes , Coilovers, Tyres, ARB's, etc.....so it won't be dangerous That thread was designed to invoke a healthy debate rather than the plethora of ......my XXX beat XXX that seem to be proliferating!! which it did :P
  12. APR FMIC, this thing is a piece of engineering art with it's internal vanes and cast and tapered end tanks, took all weekend and copious use of an angle grinder on the bumper rail, I went to the trouble of drilling a grill into the bumper rail at the bottom of the U section to allow airflow into the 1" or so of finned area that was hidden behind it and removed the bottom 1" of metal from the bumper rail. Anyway it is fitted now after spending the best part of 3 months sat in my garage, I got it off a guy who listed it on ebay after contacting him to buy it now, it came with a couple of pipes missing which when AGTI kindly contacted APR for a price....APR wanted
  13. Yup, wrong tree, what I am getting at is the fact that you can squeeze nearly 200bhp out of the Fabia vrs and the rest of the package is barely upto the 130bhp of the std car according to the guys who have had them remapped, just reminds me of the time when 17 spotty yoofs were driving rusty old mkII 1.3 escorts with 2 litre twin cams dropped in.
  14. Not seen this subject covered on any of the VAG forums yet, but it has become apparent that there are numerous cars on our roads which fit this description. Now I do not want anyone to take this the wrong way but this is probably directed mainly at the Fabia VRS owners, yes I own an Octy VRS, but I had a Fabia VRS for a day recently as a courtesy car, I specifically requested it and booked my car in for warranty work when the Fabia vrs was available. My impressions of it were that it was a pretty amazing piece of kit, particularly where the engine was concerned, the last Diesel I had was a Volvo 440 TDI, and it was a piece of crap, brand new but bad just the same ( it was a company car and yes ..it was forced on me) I asked for the fabia to find out why it seems to have gained such a keen following. The point of all this is that the Fabia as a 130bhp package is fast but is on the limit as it is as far as brakes supension, tyres are concerned and that the remaps available for a few hundred quid seem to be snapped up as a first modification then the owners realise the limitations of the important bits. Maybe the onus should be on the insurance companies insisting that the rest of the car is capable of handling the extra power BEFORE they will insure a remap. At present you can drive a bog standard Fabia vrs into any number of tuning companies and drive out with anything upto a 50% power increase. ...open to debate...........
  15. Sorry mate, should have read standard blueflame downpipe, they do 63mm as standard for the 150/180BHP 1.8T with option of 68mm and 75mm used on the leon /TT
  16. Bengie, the standard Octy downpipe diameter is 63mm, just measured mine as it is still stuck in the garage, need to get it booked in for the system fitting
  17. Just got Vag-Com cable off ebay, ran a scan and getting a fault code showing: 16395 - Bank1: Camshaft A ( intake): retard setpoint not reached ( over advanced) P0011-35-10---intermittent Anyone got a clue what or why this is, should it e something I address with the dealers?
  18. I had exactly this problem after fitting my Focal Utopias, and sound deadening, after tests with a hosepipe, found that it was running down the wire bundle that runs in just under the mirror, to cure it i made a small deflector to channel it away inside the door, worked a treat!
  19. A mate had one of these years ago, they are not a skoda as you know it, the quality of EVERYTHING on these 'cars' is absolutely appalling, makes renault build quality look brilliant! 6 Grand for one of these, the seller must be on drugs, they were originally made of recycled metal ......nuff said!
  20. I use microdirect in Manchester, www.microdirect.co.uk seem hard to beat for price and service! good website as well
  21. Claybank in Irlam straight down the A57, really good bunch and great service, my brake light switch died when I was in wrexham, which meant that I was left with NO brake lights, they told me to drop in as soon as possible that day and replaced the switch witin half an hour of me getting there
  22. Do you remember long cold snowy winters and hot sunny summers ( not anymore, just seems to be a slightly different shades of grey and marginally varying temperature rain )
  23. Sounding like a scratched record by now but ........... why not join the Blueflame group buy,
