well however they do its getting silly.............mine up for renewal and even tho i got 1 more year NCB and the car now worth less, quotes are doubling up to the £1,500 a year mark :'( :'( apparently there have been loads of claims in my area and my friend in the insurance game tells me there have been rises of 15-20% accross the board. barstewards

i thought you can park where you like? the insurance bit, is that not just to identify if you have it on street drive or garage? do i have to park outside mine all the time? I agree that dodgyness and uninsured should be cracked down on but thats the polis's job and as stated before , hardly headline news. Maybe you have spent too much of your own time looking at his business, which as yet does not appeared to have caused undue discomfort to others or even a crime. Not being funny or wishing to cause offence, just my opinnion.

there is an exact science behind it pastyboy...................its called Bullsh*itology...........i had a little fiesta, they told me high prices cos it ws worth blah blah.....i got a cheaper vectra, price hike cause its a bigger engine, i had kids so thought that would make things cheaper......noooooo, more expensive cos the kids might distract me.....now i pay less on the vrs than i did on the vectra (which was worth £400 max). It makes no sense.

I agree, it aint great scumbags going round with no insurance and i'm sure its a pain in the rce if you have a prang with an uninsured, but thats what insurance companies like to tell us to justify huge price hikes. they chat all sorts of rubbish to justify price hikes; most of us have no choice to pay cause we want to stay within the law.

I think the words you used were "only assume".....you don't know for sure he is comitting a crime and we havn't got to the pre-crime stage yet have we? It depends if you see crime/the law as black and white. If you do you will have never broken a speed limit or if you have should someone dob you in for it? IMHO If your neighbour was dealing crack or doing violent crime fair play, ring the police. In this case you assume he may be about to do an insurance scam......your call.

nice. think i will wait until i buy a tripod to do those shots........pretty essential. What shutter speeds/iso/aperture settings did you use?

i have a rather nasty "chip" on the wing of my octy....i suspect it been knocked by a trolley. No dint but a deep chip. Is there a particular brand of touch up paint that matches black magic pearl or do i have to buy this from skoda?

Nice car On the fuel point there are posts on here which point to research showing that V power (or other super) is no better for fuel consumption than 95 Ron and in fact may be worse (i certainly havn't noticed any real difference). The power may be more although im sure when i had my petrol vrs on the rollers it was on 95 Ron and got 200bhp. V power is also £1.29 a ltr at the moment :no: , thats a lot for a full tank. The label on inside also states no probs for 95 Ron however, the most important point is super is a cleaner fuel for the engine....that my excuse for using it and im sticking to it unless it gets really sillt £per litre. Enjoy the car.

couldnt agree more......we are on an informal forum and shouldn't be too harsh on others for smelling or gram errrrrr. it really doesnt matter and IMHO sounds a little snobbish. When writting a formal or piece for work, fair play, do a spell check. otherwise dont sweat about it. Hope you enjoy your car and post some pics.

had a look in jessops and the cannon 550d looks pretty good for the money (£100 cheaper than the nilon D90) It came with a cannon lense and there is theoption on buying a Tamron 300mm zoom lense......anyone know what these are like?

looking at purchasing a DSLR in the £500-700 range.....it looks like Cannon and Nikon the main 2 candidates.....the D90 or eos 550d. Anyone got one and any advice on prices/ spec. Cannon has higher megapixel yet Nikon has more fps.....how will this affect pic quality/useability given im a relative beginner? And isnt the D90 an older model likely to be replaced?? Any comments or advice welcome Dan
