  1. No rust on my 2009 jobbie. so it's not gonna be every car. That said, if you are buying used (And saving cash) You don't part with the hard-earned unless you are happy with the product!
  2. Past that, look all around the car for obvious signs of fluid flowing out, when you operate (Or get someone else to operate) The rear wash/wipe function. There is a repair kit you can purchase, if the flexible hose has cracked/burst. Additionally, check the actual spray nozzle has not just become caked up and blocked over time. A gently inserted needle or pin might help with that.
  3. My guess is that it will dry out quickly and the smell will get less with time. Try using one of those car bombs, that go in the car to clean the a/c
  4. Do you know where you might have lost it? You won't want it floating around inside the oil filters housing, etc! Other then that, I think it will be quite a standard thread, such as M6, M8, etc. The length should not be too much of an issue..
  5. Just remember not to go too far and tint the front windscreen! Lol.
  6. He'll be wanting to tint his numberplate next!
  7. Unsure but many things need coding out, once fixed. If this needed doing and was not done, it might make no differencr to the dash display as the car will still think the fault is there. (I still spotted a battery "Fault" which was on diagnostics, despite replacing it twice since the factory fitted unit. The car still "Thinks" The battery may be faulty).
  8. I would guess so but I'd probably search eBay etc for a good used one first as you might find the correct colour. Any new one will require painting, on top of the price.
  9. sounds like there could be a short circuit perhaps caused by wet entering the electrics.
  10. ...Unfortunately there is most likely no comeback to soda, due to the age of the car. I think rust/corrosion had a ten year warranty, if inspected and fixed in due course.I also think they just stuck on new tailgates as it was quicker.
  11. The heater fan does unfortunately require the dash to be removed to swap it for a new one. A specialist will undertake the operation quite quickly but its still an expensive thing to change as the fan is quite pricey too. I doubt its worth fitting a used one either unless you know it to be working and/or are selling the car.
  12. ...As an aside, my (Very) Old Saab 900 Turbo from the eighties, used to have a gauge but the temperature sensor was so high in the rad that a low coolant level meant the car gave no notice of overheating anyway!
  13. Just for informations-sake, how easy/hard is it to swap out the condenser on a Fabia? I assume they all have a similar fitment. I am planning on getting a regas next week or so and am thinking what to do if mine is duff.
  14. At the rear of the console, in the cup holder, remove the plastic/rubber cover and you may well see a screw you need to loosen the console.
  15. Just a weird little thing happened a day or two ago, where one of the tailgate strut mounts on my Fabia, came completely loose and the strut popped off! Made a scrapy-scrunchy noise as I closed the tailgate, which is how I noticed it but it could have been quiet dangerous as the strut could have went through the rear glass! I have never known this to happen before, on ANY vehicle so it was a surprise. It was the actual bolt section, that must have worked loose over time, as I raised and lowered the tailgate, not the actual ball joint part separating, which you might have expected. Anyway, I screwed it back in, popped the ball joint on again and all seems ok. I will most likely remove it again soon and tighten it up with a little thread lock, so as to prevent the same issue happening again. I will also take the opportunity to pack the ball joints with low melting point grease. Bizarrely, my self-opening spring kit I fitted a few years ago, started to work properly again so a small result from a PITA! Might well be worth looking at these joints occasionally, to be sure they are tight as I bet no-one does... I didn't!
  16. I think many cars have this system, now anyway. My old 2002 Yaris does and its never shown red in 20 years or so!
  17. As far as I know, there is no temp display. You get blue symbol for cold, which goes off once warm and will glow red if overheating and you may well also get a warning sound. You might get a similar light and chime (Three times) If low on coolant. Not sure if maki-dot displays have an extra display for temp but know others have either fitted or tried fitting an auxiliary temp gauge. If its not a sports model and you drive "Normally" I would not worry.
  18. ...Sorry Sock, I did you a dis-service there, to make a silly pun. Yeah, the right wire or the one without the Audi logo (0000) next to it. If you can't spot the difference, prior to cutting, I would tag/label the earth so as to know which one it is, when re-connecting. Put some insulating tape or masking tape, etc around the wire and even write on that, if possible. The colour difference IS quite subtle. The earth is what is what I think they call a tracer wire. It is red, with a brown stripe but its quite easy to overlook that in certain circumstances. Best of luck.
  19. Funny question here, but have you tried the gas pedal without the engine running and again whilst running, but stationary? Trying to be sure its not more to do with the pedal, then the engine or the suspension parts, if you see what I mean. That said, the description sounds like a CV joint but they usually click more then once and usually when turning full lock either left or right and become worse with time. You might JUST be stating to have some wear on one. The fact that it does it at speed may negate this but don't rule things out too quickly.
  20. I do believe this question was raised and answered that, yes, they are the same. Funnily enough, the tailgate and the rear doors are different but the lights remain the same.
  21. There's "Norway" He spotted that!
  22. Can you mention how you did this, so it may benefit others?
  23. If you can locate a leak, there is a kit you can buy to remedy it. Otherwise, you could wrap it in duck tape and hope it stops leaking. Any leak will deplete the fluid quicker though, costing more in lost fluid, over time! Ebay ad for kit... Cut and paste and look. It is nothing to do with me, just had it for reference. Genuine Skoda Washer Pipe Repair Kit
  24. Do you mean the car, or the owner?
  25. ...Bent shock could also cause the tracking/steering to be out a bit.
