  1. Nickel is also used extensively for plating plumbing items as a less environmentally damaging alternative to hexavalent chromium.
  2. There is more than 1 temperature sensor, I think it could also be the one measuring intake air temperature - so rather than guessing I suggest a code scan.
  3. Smoke suggests it's stuck in cold start mode, which points to a temperature sensor?
  4. Several possibilities hard (impossible?) to know which without a fault code scan IMHO.
  5. That's not how I read the reply from Skoda - it's only the Driver Assist functions that return to default, and since Speed limiter is shown as a separate item in the list they have made no comment about Speed limiter returning to default - just referred you to the owner's manual...
  6. Even though it's called a resistor it's not actually a resistor but an electronic module that uses PWM to control the motor speed in a way that doesn't dissipate lots of heat.
  7. That means CP had been removed by a hack method which was lost when updating the firmware - not "properly" removed.
  8. Update from the links which are posted in this forum - after backing up the current contents onto a PC or Mac. The latest cards are 32GB but if you don't need an all Europe map there is no need for the larger card.
  9. Sounds like your "VCDS cable" isn't a VCDS cable but a clone/rip-off copy.
  10. Because of the number of stereos that were getting stolen and sold on the black market - first they added PIN codes but those are easily calculated so then they came up with Component Protection (which is applied to other modules also) so the provenance of the module can be checked back at corporate HQ (but some people have even found a way around that now).
  11. It will because you're installing it in a different vehicle.
  12. Not really, using this tag editor you open the folder in Windows and copy the album art to all MP3's in one go. Then replace the updated albums on the SD card.
  13. Windows, and I suspect the MIB system, expect the album art to be embedded into each and every MP3 file. I use an MP3 Tag Editor to add album artwork to every file.
  14. Because you edited out the header, which is always done by people with a VCDS clone - so it looks suspicious.
  15. Rather than guessing get a proper diagnostic scan done, very often ESC and TPMS errors are caused by a faulty ABS wheel speed sensor.
  16. Modern aerodynamics mean there is little or no direct airflow over the rear window creating a back eddy where road dirt can easily accumulate and restrict rear vision. Personally a rear wiper is a "must have" because of this.
  17. How do you plan to remove Component Protection?
  18. I had the VBF on my previous Octavia estate, always left the VBF in the up position as I found the space underneath useful for lots of small items and it made the load floor flatter. I had a Skoda boot liner and just cut off the side flaps.
  19. I don't think that screen is compatible with a MIB1 unit - @pab567 can you confirm? Please post the full part number of your MIB1 unit - DAB and Nav are NOT just coding!
  20. Currently self levelling is only required if the light output exceeds a limit, which I think is 2000 lumens, but a change to the regulations from 2027 will require self levelling to be fitted to all new designs and from 2030 for all new sales.
  21. I suggest you buy a sensor from a reputable source not eBay. BTW the sensors need to be painted to match the bumper.
