You'll have to ask them that! What I know is that, having owned a 1.4TSI Octavia 3 and a 1.8TSI Octavia 3, the 1.4/1.5 is an EA211 engine and has a timing BELT and the 1.8/2.0 is an EA888 engine and has a timing CHAIN.

I've lost count of the number of times both Skoda and Audi dealers sent me and the ex letters that the timing belts on our cars needed replacing - despite her 1.2 12V having a chain and my 4.2 32V also having a chain.

Are you 100% sure you have a 1.4TSI? IF you do have a 1.4TSI (petrol) then Skoda Dartford are WRONG! The EA211 engine (1.4TSI and 1.5TSI) all have a timing BELT, and (for information) the water pump and timing belt are on opposite ends of the engine so they do NOT need the water pump replacing when the timing belt is replaced.

No so, Ross-Tech have paid VW a huge amount of money and jumped through many 'hoops' required but VW move at a rate slower than most glaciers when granting access to the SFD system.

On a non-Canton system all the speakers are wired directly to the rear of the unit in the glovebox.

It took a long time for Skoda to sort out most of the many software problems (some still haven't been fixed, just read the Mk4 thread on here) so for reliability I'd pick a Mk3 or MK3.5 but if tech presses your buttons (and you don't mind soft keys instead of switches) then Mk4 is the one to go for.

An ex-Lagonda engineer who worked for me when we were at Lotus restored a white Mk1 which he would occasionally drive to work.

You sure it's a 1.4 with ACT? I thought the Octavia only came with ACT as a 1.5?

Might help if you tell us more about your Octavia - engine size & type, gearbox type, version, saloon or estate, model year, etc.

It sounds like you have an Amundsen, have you tried putting the map SD card in the other SD slot?

Maybe in the leafy part of her Nottingham South constituency but in any inner city area (where millions of people live) the figure is much closer to 0%. Funding for cross pavement charging solves the problem of getting power to the kerbside but fails to tackle the even more difficult issue of there not being any "right" to park in front of your own house - so if the nearest place you can park to your own house is out of range of the charging cable (which is not unlikely) then charging an EV at home when you don't have a drive will still be impossible. This weekend I've been staying with a friend and never once been able to park outside their house, one day the nearest I could get was 100 metres down the road.

Power comes into the top connector and out of the top connector of the piggyback WITHOUT going through the piggyback fuse. So by inserting the piggyback with the tail pointing up you do NOT have a fuse in circuit.

Not all fault codes clear automatically, in many cases you have to fix the problem and then clear the code. I've used VCDS for nearly 20 years, I like its comprehensive coverage of all the modules in a modern Skoda (not just the major ones), the free for life software upgrades and the great online support (if you have a genuine one not a clone or copy). No it's not cheap, but compare it to the cost of a diagnostic visit to a dealer and it doesn't look so bad.

The ACC on my 2016 L&K works down to a stop when it asks me to press the brake pedal to disengage it. Later models have PACC which even works when stationary and can restart when the vehicle in front moves.

No the screen is only that, a screen. The "intelligence" is in the glovebox unit.
