  1. Please post only in English, use an online translation tool if necessary.
  2. Amundsen & Columbus are not brands, they are different models of the infotainment system. If the in-built sat nav needs an SD card inserted to work then you have an Amundsen, if the glovebox unit has a CD/DVD drive and the maps are stored internally on a hard drive then you have a Columbus.
  3. The sites of two of the manufacturing companies I worked for are now retail parks, and another is now a data centre.
  4. I'm using the latest 2025/26 MIB2 Amundsen map which has multiple incorrect speed limits, one example is the housing estate where I live shows as 20mph even though there are no signs changing it from the 30mph on the access road. Where do errors like this get reported? BTW I'm in England.
  5. And watch out for bow waves from idiots driving too fast through the water causing a much deeper surge.
  6. Have you tried turning start-stop off? If the car new or new to you? If new to you is the battery healthy with a good CCA?
  7. I wouldn't take an ACT engined car of mine to somewhere that doesn't seem to be fully up to speed with the extra steps and special tools required.
  8. According to the VAG documentation I haven't had a compatible phone for many years, but they've always worked! The documentation isn't a priority for them to keep it up-to-date so I wouldn't take any notice of it - just user experience what matters, and I would be very surprised if the A15 isn't compatible in reality.
  9. Which map version are you downloading? What unzipping software are you using? I downloaded the AS version from there and it's all good.
  10. Smartlink is the generic name used by Skoda for both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
  11. If you have a MIB2 then you have an Octavia 3 so you have posted in the wrong forum.
  12. A 2013 Octavia will have a MIB1 Amundsen which has different screen resolution to a 2018 screen for a MIB2 - they are not compatible.
  13. Not convinced that it's possible to remotely detect fuse or wiring problems?
  14. Could be missing/blown fuse or wiring/connector problem too.
  15. For a 1.5ACT engine that's too low, that's the quote for a 1.4 non-ACT engine. The ACT needs special tools and takes longer. 5years/80k miles is the old recommendation by Skoda UK which was "corrected" last year. Sounds like your "local ish VAG garage" is not 100% trustworthy?
  16. There are no TPMS wheel sensors, it's an indirect system that uses some weird software in the ABS module and the ABS wheel speed sensors.
  17. £2500 is an absolute rip-off for a cambelt and water pump replacement - search on here and you will see MUCH lower prices paid by other owners of diesels. If your son REALLY has to go to these rip-off merchants then this should be the one and only time they get his business.
  18. He needs to find another garage! Not only don't they know that petrols have a chain not a belt, but £2500 for a belt replacement is outrageous!
  19. Depends if @Biggles33 has a petrol or diesel VRS (he doesn't say) - petrols have a timing chain but diesels have a timing belt.
  20. All Audi's (S3, A4, S4, RS4) and Skoda's (Fabia, Octavia) I've owned have had the low fluid warning including those without Xenon headlamps?
  21. I hope it's strong enough to withstand being run over by lorries such as bin lorries?
  22. @NJD91 is it a late Octavia 2 or an early Octavia 3?
  23. Has this been reported to Ross-Tech, and if so has it been confirmed that this is a VCDS HEX-CAN problem? If it is indeed caused by this method then surely Ross-Tech are the people to ask for help as their support is excellent?
