  1. That makes no difference to the problem that the EV won't have the same level of regenerative braking if the battery is cold or almost fully charged - you're ignoring the problem, not answering the question.
  2. Can you confirm that when you are having to emergency brake you take the time to look at your instruments rather than at the rapidly approaching obstruction in front?
  3. It would appear not, and that on cold days with a well charged battery you cannot expect the same level of regeneration. Be interesting to see what the liability would be of an accident on a cold day near home with the EV driver saying "my EV didn't slow down like it usually does so I hit the queue of stationary vehicles" - the driver would (rightly) blame the car for not behaving as expected but the manufacturer would say "they all do that sir/madam" and the insurer would shrug their shoulders as usual.
  4. There are plenty of areas near where I live in Wiltshire with NO mobile data reception, even the large new housing estate where I live has reception so poor that phones revert to WiFi Calling for voice calls! In the UK relying on mobile coverage for driverless vehicle operation is insane with so many not spots and areas of inconsistent mobile coverage. IMHO a pre-condition of allowing driverless vehicles needs to be decent reliable 4G/5G coverage.
  5. UK or US date format? 6th October or 10th June?
  6. You don't say what head unit you have so it's not possible to advise!
  7. AFAIK you can only check the Haldex once the propshaft is back on and you try driving - there have been a few threads on here about Haldex problems so it's worth doing a search.
  8. That's not just the rear diff - that's the rear diff AND Haldex clutch. Do some reading up - they use different oils and it's strongly advised that you also clean the Haldex filter.
  9. The Haldex clutch and the rear diff are two different units. Between the propshaft and the rear diff there is a Haldex clutch unit that only engages drive to the rear diff when necessary.
  10. I guess it's possible that the LHD drivers & RHD passengers or LHD passengers & RHD drivers are not the same length if the position of the wiper drive shafts are not identically handed. Sorry if that sounds complicated but I'm struggling to find an easier way to explain it!
  11. OP says it's a 24 reg (March 24 to August 24) so it's not a "new" car as a "new" car will be a 74 reg?
  12. I used to use Eco mode most of the time but in hilly regions the lack of engine braking means you need to use the brakes more, so I've switched to Drive mode to regain the engine braking - and not noticed any reduction in mpg.
  13. Did they use any heat when fixing the dent? Maybe the clips that the bulb plugs into have relaxed?
  14. Which resulted in 2 recalls as Vauxhall attempted to fix the problem, I had to accompany my brother to the local vehicle dealer twice to get his Zafira sorted. Apparently the heater blower resistor was too close to some sound damping material which then caught fire.
  15. I have the same problem, I plan to just put the Data Plug in the back of a cupboard somewhere and forget about it - shame as I find the Connect Lite app really useful.
  16. SIM cards and eSIMs are available that support roaming between UK networks not just when abroad.
  17. A wire damaged during the dent repair, the ground wire not well grounded due to corrosion or paint or loose bolt?
  18. Not in my area, 2G Vodafone is still active (and is planned to be until at least 2030) but 3G Vodafone was turned off last summer - making it impossible to open the Lidl Plus app in-store as there is no 4G coverage yet! And there's no planned date for 5G rollout in my area. Made me very puzzled when I read in IET News last spring that research into 6G has already started, as an IET Member I had a letter published the next month suggesting that instead of spending on 6G research they should be spending on 4G/5G rollout to get rid of the newly created not spots by turning off 3G!
  19. It was pretty obvious that with the (forced) move to EVs then any Government would have to make good the shortfall in revenue by, at some date, making EVs pay VED - so to not expect to have to pay VED on an EV is very naive.
  20. You can apply that argument to all VED changes, the VED on my ICE Octavia is way more than when it was first registered in 2016. The VED on my previous Audi more than doubled in the 10 years I owned it! Perhaps I chose the wrong word when I said "retrospective", what I meant was that it doesn't cancel the existing VED registration (for £0) for EVs on 1st April 2025, and like all VED changes it applies from the time of next VED renewal.
  21. Same here, only runs continuously while the rear washer is active (and a few seconds after).
  22. Possible but unlikely IMHO, retrospective orders/rules/laws are very rare in the UK.
  23. The transponder needed to turn on the "ignition" is passive so will work even with no battery in the key, the battery in the key is only needed for remote locking/unlocking.
