  1. A 2013 Octavia will have a MIB1 Amundsen which has different screen resolution to a 2018 screen for a MIB2 - they are not compatible.
  2. Not convinced that it's possible to remotely detect fuse or wiring problems?
  3. Could be missing/blown fuse or wiring/connector problem too.
  4. For a 1.5ACT engine that's too low, that's the quote for a 1.4 non-ACT engine. The ACT needs special tools and takes longer. 5years/80k miles is the old recommendation by Skoda UK which was "corrected" last year. Sounds like your "local ish VAG garage" is not 100% trustworthy?
  5. There are no TPMS wheel sensors, it's an indirect system that uses some weird software in the ABS module and the ABS wheel speed sensors.
  6. £2500 is an absolute rip-off for a cambelt and water pump replacement - search on here and you will see MUCH lower prices paid by other owners of diesels. If your son REALLY has to go to these rip-off merchants then this should be the one and only time they get his business.
  7. He needs to find another garage! Not only don't they know that petrols have a chain not a belt, but £2500 for a belt replacement is outrageous!
  8. Depends if @Biggles33 has a petrol or diesel VRS (he doesn't say) - petrols have a timing chain but diesels have a timing belt.
  9. All Audi's (S3, A4, S4, RS4) and Skoda's (Fabia, Octavia) I've owned have had the low fluid warning including those without Xenon headlamps?
  10. I hope it's strong enough to withstand being run over by lorries such as bin lorries?
  11. @NJD91 is it a late Octavia 2 or an early Octavia 3?
  12. Has this been reported to Ross-Tech, and if so has it been confirmed that this is a VCDS HEX-CAN problem? If it is indeed caused by this method then surely Ross-Tech are the people to ask for help as their support is excellent?
  13. VCDS keeps a copy of all changes in two files in C:\Ross-Tech\VCDS\Debug called CodingLog.csv and AdpLog.csv which you can open with Notepad.
  14. The comment about the water pump being in the same area is only true for some of the engines fitted to the Octavia 3 - it is NOT true for the EA211 1.0, 1.2, 1.4 and 1.5 petrol engines where the water pump is on the other end of the engine!
  15. There isn't a "one size fits all" answer as it depends on driving style, environment, etc. Which is why VAG as a whole advise a time/mileage after which it should be regularly inspected.
  16. It's not that the parts are being made better it's that Skoda UK were out of step with the rest of the VAG empire when they were saying 5 years. It seems they were forced to get back in line when the cambelt replacement costs on the ACT versions were so much higher than the non-ACT versions.
  17. Sometimes on the MQB platform, which includes the Octavia 3, this process needs to be repeated up to 5 times to reset the one touch.
  18. Was it made with 25.3 as requested? The header wasn't posted and I'm no expert at spotted the output of hacked versions of VCDS so it's not clear to me.
  19. Either 2 failed modules or a fuse/wiring problem?
  20. That's the thing with OBDeleven apps - they do lots of other stuff "under the hood", sometimes, as here, it's not a problem but other times (especially where Skoda have changed the firmware in a module) it has unexpected and unwanted side effects. This is why some advise to not use the scripts but do everything manually.
  21. Are you 100% sure that the VCDS is genuine? 12.12.3.0 is 13 years old which is very strange as updates to VCDS are free. Did the VCDS cable come with software on a CD? If so then that's a very good clue that what you have is a pirated clone.
  22. If the sensors are monitored for open or closed circuit (I don't know if they are just raising it as a possible issue) then this would cause fault codes to be stored.
