Clunking over bigger bumps
Might help if you tell us more about your Octavia - engine size & type, gearbox type, version, saloon or estate, model year, etc.

sat nav stops working, intermittently
It sounds like you have an Amundsen, have you tried putting the map SD card in the other SD slot?

the truth about electric cars
Maybe in the leafy part of her Nottingham South constituency but in any inner city area (where millions of people live) the figure is much closer to 0%. I suspect the Minister has glanced at the Google AI summary which gives a figure of 68%? It's this constant denying that access to driveway charging (and parking outside your own house) is a problem that makes it hard to believe politicians have any understanding of the "real world". Oh and the new EV cost cap on the discount being well below the average cost of a new EV means the scheme can only apply to a minority of new EV purchasers.

piggyback fuse "direction"
I stand corrected 🙃

the truth about electric cars
Funding for cross pavement charging solves the problem of getting power to the kerbside but fails to tackle the even more difficult issue of there not being any "right" to park in front of your own house - so if the nearest place you can park to your own house is out of range of the charging cable (which is not unlikely) then charging an EV at home when you don't have a drive will still be impossible. This weekend I've been staying with a friend and never once been able to park outside their house, one day the nearest I could get was 100 metres down the road.

piggyback fuse "direction"
Power comes into the top connector and out of the top connector of the piggyback WITHOUT going through the piggyback fuse. So by inserting the piggyback with the tail pointing up you do NOT have a fuse in circuit.

Hello from Denmark
6V or 12V version? My ex had a Fabia Ambiente 1.2 12V from 2005 until 2016 and we never found it short of "oomph" - I actually used to enjoy occasionally driving it at weekends instead of my V8 RS4, I loved the off-beat sound of the 3 cylinder engine and was surprised how well it went.

OBD scanners
A modern VAG vehicle has correctly been described as "a computer network on wheels" 😵💫

OBD scanners
Not all fault codes clear automatically, in many cases you have to fix the problem and then clear the code. I've used VCDS for nearly 20 years, I like its comprehensive coverage of all the modules in a modern Skoda (not just the major ones), the free for life software upgrades and the great online support (if you have a genuine one not a clone or copy). No it's not cheap, but compare it to the cost of a diagnostic visit to a dealer and it doesn't look so bad.

Amundsen to Columbus
No the screen is only that, a screen. The "intelligence" is in the glovebox unit.

Skoda Octavia MK3 2.0tsi petrol estate - infotainment screen (with Canton) locking.
Amundsen & Columbus are not brands, they are different models of the infotainment system. If the in-built sat nav needs an SD card inserted to work then you have an Amundsen, if the glovebox unit has a CD/DVD drive and the maps are stored internally on a hard drive then you have a Columbus.

the truth about electric cars
The sites of two of the manufacturing companies I worked for are now retail parks, and another is now a data centre.

Speed limit data
I'm using the latest 2025/26 MIB2 Amundsen map which has multiple incorrect speed limits, one example is the housing estate where I live shows as 20mph even though there are no signs changing it from the 30mph on the access road. Where do errors like this get reported? BTW I'm in England.

And watch out for bow waves from idiots driving too fast through the water causing a much deeper surge.

Octy Mk4 stalling in traffic - MAJOR safety issue
Have you tried turning start-stop off? If the car new or new to you? If new to you is the battery healthy with a good CCA?

1.5tsi ACT cambelt change interval revision?
I wouldn't take an ACT engined car of mine to somewhere that doesn't seem to be fully up to speed with the extra steps and special tools required.

Infotainment/cruise/smartlink
According to the VAG documentation I haven't had a compatible phone for many years, but they've always worked! The documentation isn't a priority for them to keep it up-to-date so I wouldn't take any notice of it - just user experience what matters, and I would be very surprised if the A15 isn't compatible in reality.

If you have a MIB2 then you have an Octavia 3 so you have posted in the wrong forum.
