  1. None of the OE infotainment systems for the Octavia 3 support wireless CarPlay, you have to use a USB to wireless adapter once wired CarPlay is working. Do you have Canton? If you do then as well as the glovebox unit, screen and USB socket you'll have to replace the Canton amp. @pab567is the guru for part numbers.
  2. So what is BMW's logic in keeping MINI production at Oxford? You can't get much further from a port! And the Government grant they were offered is tiny in comparison to the real cost.
  3. What model Skoda do you have, and what model year is it?
  4. Are you using a full USB cable with data connections as well as power connections? Many cheaper USB cables are power only which won't work. I don't use Android but I understand that you have to enable it on the phone, have you done this?
  5. On the Octavia 3 SmartLink is wired only, have you tried connecting your phone to the USB socket under the heater controls?
  6. Only if the app can read/write the J367 module which is a subsystem of the J533 CAN Gateway at address 19.
  7. I have stop/start so it may be different to yours - when stop/start is active the revs drop to 750rpm as the DSG clutches are disengaged, but when stop/start is not active the revs stay around 1000rpm.
  8. Function is hidden with no notification, it just happens. When stopped on a slope I just press the brake and after a few seconds hill hold engages, then when I lift off the brake I have a few seconds to get onto the accelerator. That's how it works on my 1.8TSI Octavia 3 with DQ200 DSG.
  9. Unusual to get a factory fitted AGM battery, Skoda normally save a few pennies and fit an EFB battery - you lucked out!
  10. IIRC 04xx versions require different hardware or some "tricks", maybe @pab567 can confirm/correct me?
  11. What model year is your Octavia? SmartLink requires a MIB2 or later infotainment system which was fitted from May 2015 production onwards, and then requires a SwP code to enable it.
  12. Not damage, but to avoid confusing the battery management system.
  13. Behind the interior mirror.
  14. But it was the question that @Gammyleg asked 👍 I can only find a maximum of 3000 candela, nothing I can easily find about a minimum.
  15. Yes, on all cars and light good vehicles type approved after 2011.
  16. They're LED strips that are part of the headlamp, so the only way to replace them is buy a new headlamp £££. Given that the average lifetime of an LED when illuminated is 50,000 hours i.e. about 5 years 9 months that's an awful lot of driving. I agree LED lifetime is not extended by reducing their duty cycle as the heat generated is so minimal.
  17. You need to change the Dimmwert value in the Leuchte channels that control the DRLs in the BCM.
  18. I would stick with the 90V load and speed rating, personally I'll be changing to All Season tyres when my current set need changing (which will be soon).
  19. In response to an Ofcom consultation Cubic Telecom included in their reply that they are an MVNO on the BT/EE network.
  20. Varta is not an OE supplier so the battery has been changed, when it was changed was the car's battery management system recoded? Do you have any obvious extra electrical devices such as a dash cam, cool box, etc.? Failing that something is not turning off when it should, and the best way to get more clues is a fault code scan with e.g. VCDS or OBDeleven.
  21. If the voltage is really that high then somerhing is SERIOUSLY wrong, the voltage should never be above about 15V!!! Sounds like your alternator regulator is not regulating, get it looked at and fixed ASAP before some serious damage is caused - and be prepared to need a new battery if this one has "boiled".
  22. SSP511 abut the EA211 engine might be interesting/helpful?, especially page 36 about the cooling system?
  23. After even a long weekend parked up outside both the front and rear discs on my Octavia 3 have a noticeable rusty film on them, more so this year as it has been wetter than usual.
  24. Exactly what model Octavia do you have - engine size, is it hybrid? Why doesn't start/stop turn off the engine when you are stopped?
  25. Here's an actual example from a petrol car I used to own - used it for urban commuting all week (lots of slow stop/start traffic) and filled up with petrol on the way home Friday - range shown 300 miles. Went on a 100 mile dual carriageway & motorway drive on Saturday - range at end 320 miles! So I drove 100 miles and had 20 miles MORE range at the end... How come? Estimated range in petrol/diesel VAG vehicles is based on the average consumption of the last 20 miles and my average consumption on the open roads on Saturday was much less than during the week.
