  1. The MIB units are actually in 2 parts - a simple screen in the centre console and the "brains" in the glovebox. The real problem with any non-OEM unit is that it's an infotainment system not just an entertainment system - which means it also is used to control several car functions as well. None of the third party systems successfully do all of that. So the real answer is to rip the CDs onto a large capacity SD card and use that in the car as an equivalent to a mega-multi CD changer.
  2. We know nothing about your car - is this firmware for an Octavia 4 relevant?
  3. Click on the word "Home" at the top left of the webpage and then scroll down to find the forum your car model and version, then click on that and start a new topic just like you have done here. Give FULL details of you car - model, year, infotainment type, etc.
  4. I love the lack of clarity about what times the "ultra low off-peak rate" is available on the Next Drive Smart tariff.
  5. As I understand it no printed manuals are available in any language (most of them were never read so it's both a cost saving and an environment saving), if you want a printed manual then you have to download and print the online one yourself.
  6. Not so, it's a card ID code that's unique to the VAG (inc Skoda) SD cards, there is NO extra chip.
  7. My previous Octavia came without the map SD card for Amundsen (and the dealer said they couldn't get one) so I spent a few minutes on eBay and found many suitable Skoda map SD cards, look for one with a part number beginning 5L0 051 236. Since you have a MIB2 make sure you get at least a 16GB or 32GB Skoda SD card (I use a 32GB card and the full Europe AS maps). There is a thread on here 2026/27 MIB2 maps with links to the latest 2026 maps for the MIB2 Amundsen, and I can confirm they work on mine.
  8. Wiring harnesses most likely made by/for Kufatec - it seems that OEM parts they supply are OK but any hardware or software that is Kufatec exclusive can be questionnable.
  9. My experience is that their parts are good, but where they supply a dongle to make coding changes that's when the problems start as VAG make regular software changes that the dongle doesn't keep pace with.
  10. If it's a 2.0L petrol VRS then it will have an EA888 engine, and to my eye the oil filler and dipstick are NOT in the usual place for an EA888 petrol engine (which is on the right hand - drivers in the UK - side).

Shame they won't offer the 200kW iV in the Combi, seems a mistake to me - the 200kW iV Combi is what I would buy as my new tow car.
  12. Have you actually checked visually whether the left front fog is working? I ask because on a previous VAG vehicle every 6 months or so I would get a spurious warning about the left front fog not working when it was actually fine.
  13. I'm retired so workplace charging isn't an option. Until we have the house and garage fully rewired we have been advised by more than one electrician that home charging is not viable due to the out-of-date switchgear and poor quality of electrical feed to the garage - so we've decided that our replacement vehicle cannot be an EV on running cost grounds, so we will be having either another ICE or even a HEV.
  14. The MIL being lit is the important part, many misfires are not consistent enough and frequent enough to set the MIL (the ECU software allows a few misfires happening infrequently) - as @Evolution13 points out provided emissions are with limits then the MOT will pass.
  15. That suggests that the accessory towbar is not suitable for PHEV, but can the PHEV be ordered with the factory fitted towbar? Interested because we're planning on buying/leasing a Superb PHEV to tow a 1600kg caravan.
  16. Is that Yaris Hybrid a PHEV or just an HEV? If a PHEV was it being plugged in? And when a PHEV is plugged in, will that also charge the 12V battery (generic question I now, but is there a generic answer?)? My soon-to-be brother-in-law has a Yaris Cross hybrid (not a PHEV) which needs to have the 12V battery charged regularly as the 12V is only charged when the petrol engine runs, and ontheir mostly short urban drives around Plymouth the engine doesn't run much. In their usage pattern it seems to me that a PHEV would be preferable to an HEV?
  17. The first car to set a Land Speed Record of over 60mph was also electric La Jamais Contente
  18. This is another reason the cooling package needs uprating: Octavia 2.0 tdi (remap to 190) So you're towing with what is effectively a 190TDI with the basic 150TDI cooling package.
  19. Previously it's always been said that a MIB1 Canton amplifier cannot be used with MIB2, so it's good to know there is a way round - provided you have the tools to install the MIB1 Canton dataset.
  20. You have Canton? Then it cannot be plug and play as you also need to change the Canton amplifier when you switch from MIB1 to MIB2. Oh and the coding needs to be corrected to match your vehicle, and the USB socket needs to be changed also.
  21. The language here is English, please always post in English. Google translate says: Is it possible to update my Columbus navigation 2026? What version Columbus do you have? If it's a MIB1 then no, but if it's a MIB2 then yes - there is a thread on this site with links to the updates.
  22. Clearing component protection needs a garage with an online connection to the Skoda servers.
  23. Strange - I used the same Thule bars (with different bases) on my B7 RS4 Avant, my Octavia 3 Combi and now my Octavia 3 saloon?
  24. Not the same as you were talking about when running the whole house and/or charging an EV - so not relevant.
  25. IF they can afford the cost of home batteries, remember many people are NOT eligible for the available grants - and amongst them are those most in need of lower energy costs!
