the truth about electric cars
Most members of this site are not representative of the car driving population of the UK, which you seem to keep forgetting. Most UK residents do not have solar on their homes, and even less have solar with batteries. A significant proportion do not have driveways so cannot be sure of parking within a cable reach of their home. Taking all these factors into account there is a large percentage who will be dependent on public chargers, so the cost and UK wide availability of public EV charging is what is limiting EV take up.

Head Unit display failure !!
So that's a 14 reg not an H reg!!! HJ is the location it was registered - the Bournemouth office. 14 is the 6 month period it was registered March 2014 to August 2014. VDD is the "random" letters specific to your vehicle.

Head Unit display failure !!
I'm puzzled by 2014 being H reg? In the UK a 2014 would be either 14 or 64 reg? Or are you not in the UK?

2016 Škoda Octavia KESSY Stopped Working
I suggest getting a good diagnostics scan done, with OBD11 or VCDS, which will likely show a problem with the sensor in the drivers door handle.

the truth about electric cars
For that to happen two things need to be in place first IMHO 1) the huge difference in cost per kWh between public and home charging needs to reduce drastically or even disappear 2) the number and locations of public chargers needs to increase hugely in ALL areas not just the current hot spots.

Will OBDII work with my car? SFD2?
While SFD2 restricts changing most things it's important to remember that the generic OBD-II functions required since 2001 in Europe (earlier in the US) are still available, on VCDS see the OBD-II button on the home screen.

3p per mile for EV and 1.5p per mile for hybrids
Still not comment on mileage done whilst not in the UK. IMHO charging an EV owner for mileage done abroad is just as immoral as charging an ICE owner UK fuel duty for fuel purchased abroad.

You raised the question of battery modules in your opening post - so you have to expect some discussion on the subject?
