  1. According to this road transport accounts for 15% of global CO2 emissions, so while it's significant it's not the major source.
  2. I really think you need to find someone locally with either OBDeleven or VCDS and ask them to do a scan for you.
  3. What scanner did he use? A non-specific VAG scanner is unlikely to detect faults in the infotainment system, as they are often restricted to critical systems such as engine, ABS, transmission, etc.
  4. When done properly the refrigerant usually also contains an ultra-violet sensitive dye (as well as the oil for the compressor) that can be used to help locate leaks.
  5. That's correct on the Mk4, the heated screen has an all over film not the individual heated elements. As the screen heats then I'd suggest that even though it's not a Skoda branded screen it's a proper replacement.
  6. To save more guessing it might be an idea to post a fault code scan of 5F made with either OBDeleven or VCDS.
  7. Most members of this site are not representative of the car driving population of the UK, which you seem to keep forgetting. Most UK residents do not have solar on their homes, and even less have solar with batteries. A significant proportion do not have driveways so cannot be sure of parking within a cable reach of their home. Taking all these factors into account there is a large percentage who will be dependent on public chargers, so the cost and UK wide availability of public EV charging is what is limiting EV take up.
  8. So that's a 14 reg not an H reg!!! HJ is the location it was registered - the Bournemouth office. 14 is the 6 month period it was registered March 2014 to August 2014. VDD is the "random" letters specific to your vehicle.
  9. I'm puzzled by 2014 being H reg? In the UK a 2014 would be either 14 or 64 reg? Or are you not in the UK?
  10. I suggest getting a good diagnostics scan done, with OBD11 or VCDS, which will likely show a problem with the sensor in the drivers door handle.
  11. Skoda exploited the 2000 lumen limit on the Scala by fitting Xenon headlamps below 2000 lumen so they didn't have to fit self levelling or headlamp washers.
  12. Please post only in English.
  13. So Osram are saying that in certain countries their compatibility list overrides the lack of Type Approval of non-projector headlamps for LED bulbs on the Octavia 3? I find that puzzling???
  14. There are brighter H7 halogen bulbs from major manufacturers such as Osram and Philips. Your headlights are not type approved for LED bulbs (look at the codes on the corner of the lens) so anything other than a halogen bulb is not road legal anywhere in the EU.
  15. I only paid £20 on my 2016 Octavia 1.4TSI estate, it should have been more as it had 17" wheels which would have moved it into the next emissions group but the supplying dealer "forgot".
  16. For that to happen two things need to be in place first IMHO 1) the huge difference in cost per kWh between public and home charging needs to reduce drastically or even disappear 2) the number and locations of public chargers needs to increase hugely in ALL areas not just the current hot spots.
  17. The 5 years or 50K miles limit was only suggested by Skoda UK, not by any other country or manufacturer in the VAG "empire". Please explain why the UK has climate conditions that only affect Skoda vehicles and are so much worse than the rest of the world.
  18. That's not true, what they actually mean is that they have only enabled VW vehicle data. You need to go to an independent Skoda specialist or a Skoda dealer.
  19. While SFD2 restricts changing most things it's important to remember that the generic OBD-II functions required since 2001 in Europe (earlier in the US) are still available, on VCDS see the OBD-II button on the home screen.
  20. See the image posted by langers2k, pins B1, 2, 7 &8 are the microphones.
  21. That's an important piece of new information...
