  1. I suggest you two take this discussion offline, it doesn't help those less skilled than yourselves to read this debate.
  2. A 2015 Octavia won't have a clutch mechanism on the AC pump, it's a variable displacement pump.

  5. Skoda don't publish release notes so there's no official way of knowing what new features and bug fixes are included in any release.
  6. Any receiver that fails due to a jamming signal hasn't been properly designed, but like @TomerB2025 I think it's a manufacturing fault not a design fault.
  7. Often this means the window is so stiff that the motor current reaches the limit and stops, so worth checking that the window is not too tight in the runners.
  8. If the headlamps are that fragile then they haven't been designed to meet the conditions in the real world such as potholes and speed bumps.
  9. At around £100 per dealer diagnostic session, it soon pays for itself. BTW if you have a clone/rip-off copy then don't expect any help either from Ross-Tech or on here - we only support the "real deal".
  10. Has it always done this? On older models there was an isolator in the feed to the rear window heating elements which were also used as one of the radio aerials, this was a known point of failure causing this sort of loss of radio when the rear window heater was on. Does anyone have wiring diagrams for the Octavia 4 and can confirm whether this is also the case?
  11. Sadly it seems most dealers and large independents only employ keyboard technicians not mechanics who actually understand the oily bits of cars.
  12. That would fit best with the rest of the mileages shown.
  13. Owners in the UK have posted here that their 1.5TSI did not have the sound insulation, so maybe it's market related? Neither my 2015 1.4TSI nor my 2016 1.8TSI ha the sound insulation, so I added it to both. My understanding is that it is only fitted when needed to pass the drive-by noise tests.
  14. You defined the sun belt as being 35N to 35S, which doesn't include NZ as its most northerly point is over 40S, plus Australia goes as far south as 44S so it's not entirely within the sun belt.
  15. 1) No, the under bonnet sound deadening is only fitted to diesel versions. 4) I have a 1.8TSI (also the EA888 engine) and use 95RON most of the time, maybe once every 3 months or so I fill with 98RON.
  16. Also in that "sun belt" are some of the countries with the lowest per capita earnings in the world, transformation there is making the gap between "the haves" and "the have nots" even wider, so it's not as rosy a picture as you paint.
  17. What do you mean not working? Remote unlock/lock doesn't work? If not KESSY, key turned in ignition doesn't start car? If KESSY, key in car but car doesn't start when pressing start button? BTW I always use a CR2032 from a reputable battery manufacturer like Duracell - the Octavia 3 seems very sensitive to battery condition and even brand new batteries from some manfacturers don't work.
  18. MIB3 in a 2018 model? I don't think so as all Octavia 3's have MIB2 or MIB2.5 systems. Do you have Swing, Bolero, Amudsen or Columbus?
  19. It was over 30 years ago that all EU countries agreed to work towards a harmonised standard of 230V. The UK was allowed to adopt a tolerance of -6%/+10% instead of -10%/+10%, the UK DNOs are finally proposing that the UK also adopt the -10% lower tolerance. Proposed Changes to UK Mains Voltage Limits Explained
  20. Octavia key fobs are very sensitive to the battery - even some brand new batteries don't work. It seems that time since manufacture and even manufacture are important. I always fit Duracell CR2032 - they do fit despite being 0.7mm thicker than the CR2025 that Skoda fit.
  21. It's nit just about purchase price it's also about running costs, which if an owner cannot charge at home or work means public charging - so something needs to be done to make public charging universal throughout the whole UK (allowing the costs of installation to be offset against business taxes would be helpful), and also to control or limit the cost per kWh of public charging (cutting the VAT rate to 5% or even zero rating would be a good start).
  22. pab567 will get in touch and assist with all those questions.
  23. Have you monitored the battery voltage under various conditions - ignition off, ignition on, just after starting, while driving several minutes after starting and while braking? Those measurements will give clues whether the Battery Management System is working correctly. I use something like this in the 12V socket LED Voltmeter USB
  24. I've always been puzzled why the Type Approval regulations specify brightness of the indicators, but say nothing about their proximity to other (brighter?) lamps which make them more difficult to see? They've allowed form (design & aesthetics) to override function (visibility) IMHO.
  25. OT slightly but: Some of the worst examples of barely visible rear indicators are where the indicator is a iny amber dot surrounded by the brake and side lights, and yesterday I saw a car where the front indicator is in the same lens as the halogen DRL so all you see is a slight increase in the amber/orange light.
