  1. Neither my previous 2015 1.4TSI nor my current 2016 1.8TSI had the bonnet insulation - I have also been told that it's only fitted by the factory on diesel models. That said I purchased the bonnet insulation and fittings for both and fitted them myself - took me less than 15 minutes.
  2. Does the vehicle location move when the car is moving? If not then I suspect that there is a problem with the GPS antenna (in the roof mounted shark fin) or the wiring to it.
  3. Sadly that's not the first time this has been reported on here, and I very much doubt it will be the last. PDI checks do not seem to be carried out throughly enough by every dealer on every car, maybe time saving?
  4. A typical dealer response, meaning they don't want to do it - as for invalidating the manufacturer's warranty, that's something that a bull drops onto a field 🤥
  5. On that we agree.
  6. So the front of OPs car is parked in the carriageway - hence my suggestion that he declare parking on the road (even if it's a private road it's still likely to be a road in the eyes of an insurer).
  7. What's the "white" line of border stones shown near your house? That to me suggests an intended separator between private space and public space?
  8. Not just older properties, the deeds for my 2022 build property show my boundary in the middle of the (soon to be adopted) road in front.
  9. Where is your car parked when you're doing this, and how long did you wait after the factory reset? The signal from the satellites is very weak, so you need a 360 degree reasonably clear sky view to see as many satellites as possible. In addition after a factory reset the GPS needs to see at least 4 satellites with a strong enough signal to get any fix at all, and that fix will be very coarse until more satellites come into view which can take quite some time depending on how clear the sky view is (some satellites can appear very low to the horizon and be easily obscured).
  10. Theft from drives likelihood is IMHO postcode dependent - I've lived in south London, Surrey, Norfolk, Hampshire, Devon and Wiltshire and never has a car been stolen from the drive of any property close by in any of those places. Which I guess is a contributor to the insurers logic that damage in a garage is more likely than theft from the drive?
  11. As are all boundaries based on such maps, the thickness of the boundary line itself is equivalent to several feet (metres). A former colleague who lived in rural Norfolk had a dispute with the local council who claimed that his front wall (which had been there since the house was built in the 1850's) was too close to the road (a very quiet rural back road to nowhere) and it ended up with them taking legal action and forcing him to pay for them to demolish the wall. We took him to the council buildings (in an Audi stretched limousine we were working on at the time) in Norwich to pay, with the cheque attached to a brick from the now demolished wall!
  12. @Winston_Woof your superimposed photo shows part of the car outside of the green area, so I would play safe and say parked on the road.
  13. Cars have been damaged when in a garage by heavy things falling on them requiring expensive repairs, so many insurers have assessed that the risk when parked on the drive is lower than the risk when parked in a garage.
  14. ... and some owners have reported that cars without towbar preparation have a VIN plate that shows they have weight limits which means they cannot legally tow anything.
  15. BTW headlights are on the front of the car, what you are talking about is just called the rear light.
  16. The language of this forum is English, please post in English. Google translate says:
  17. Octavia 2 or Octavia 3, 2013 is the changeover year?
  18. Read the translation carefully: No mention of being able to display the CAR menu, etc. It's very carefully worded marketing bumpf designed to deceive.
  19. There's no mention on the Kenwood website here of that head unit displaying car specific information, just being CANbus compatible is not the same thing - you've got the wrong head unit. You need one that specifically mentions displaying car specific information.
  20. If you have Canton I believe you will also need a MOST splitter as the Canton amp is connected using MOST.
  21. Sadly that's one way many people misuse front fogs. The legal position is quite clear, but since it's never enforced it's basically irrelavnt that so many people misuse front fogs as additional main beam.
  22. The whole point of front fogs is that they are lower mounted and hence you get less glare reflected back to the driver. Headlights have to be mounted higher (legal requirement so they can be used when it's not foggy) so any 'fog light function' using only headlights will create more glare back to the driver than lower mounted lights, so I can only see the removal of lower mounted fog lights as a bad move - probably a badly judged cost saving.
  23. In Boston a few years ago I booked a Ford Focus and got ......... a BMW X5!
  24. How many SD card slots? AFAIK an Amundsen always has 2 - one for media and one for maps. Do you have a NAV button? If not then you likely do not have either an Amundsen or a Columbus, which means you would have a unit that does not support navigation.
  25. No, the EA211 engines (like the 1.4) have a cambelt.
