  1. My new house is on an estate that was built with FTTH, BUT my GF lives in Bradford-on-Avon where there is rotating chaos as the roads are dug up (mostly by Gigaclear contractors) to lay fibre to EVERY property. The chaos they cause is a matter of much "comment" locally and even more frustration as they keep returning to roads where they have not completed the work when they first dug up the road. Oh and they don't always cleanup their spoil - they left a pile of road rubble outside my GFs house which only got taken away after a complaint to the local council and Gigaclear.
  2. Doesn't mean a lot - the temperature gauges show 90 for aa wide range of temperatures, as VAG got too many owners going back to dealers saying the water temperature had gone up/down by a few degrees which is normal.
  3. During a month long power outage in Fleet Hampshire a few years ago the local Honda garage ran their petrol & diesel pumps from Honda generators...
  4. AFAIK the 1.4TSI Octavia 3 never had an engine cover in its Skoda form - the only cover I could find was a VW one - so I'm not sure that's the reasin an engine cover is fitted.
  5. Unless you have DCC the whole suspension system is purely mechanical so there are no electronic diagnostics! So running a diagnostic scan would be a total waste of time and money.
  6. I think all political parties are quite content to "kick that can down the road" because of concerns about upsetting voters until it becomes an economic necessity.
  7. It's a question of getting accees to the servo motor on the side of the heater. I've only had to work on the LHS were access is relatively easy after dropping the glovebox so can't comment on the RHS.
  8. Your terminology is confused. The screen in the centre console is just that, a screen and nothing more. The main unit is in the glovebox and contains ALL the "intelligence". Both Amundsen and Columbus have sat nav. You appear to have a 2020 model so unless the infotainment experts say otherwise I THINK your screen will work with a Columbus main unit - but best to get @pab567to confirm that. Since all the intelligence is in the main (glovebox) unit you'll need to check a Columbus replacement has the features you currently have enabled via SWaP AND it will need the coding and adaptation channels set to match your car - it's NOT plug'n'play without the help of an expert.
  9. A2DP is a Blutooth protocol to establish a connection, it's not related AFAIK to the audio codec used once that connection is established. Having said that, I seem to remember that one of the codecs which the Amundsen supports is AAC (I believe there's a table on here and possibly in the Amundsen manual) that lists the supported codecs - which codec is currently selected on your phone? I'm worried we might be "disappearing down a rabbit hole" here...
  10. I'm pretty sure that still means you're using Android Auto. Is the phone properly paired with the car via Bluetooth? Worth checking the Bluetooth connections/setup menu on the Amundsen? Can you play music from the phone onto the car?
  11. Yes, I have a iPhone. Can't offer any advice on Android as I've never owned one. Android Auto is very much still alive. If you're connecting your Android phone to your Amundsen using a USB cable then you're using Android Auto!
  12. Have you also got "Play as Bluetooth phone call" set? I find this often gets cleared after a Google maps app update.
  13. 3,100kg is still pretty close to the limit on a standard post-1996 UK licence of 3,500kg - so any "extra load" version that Tesla might introduce would have a more limited market in the UK.
  14. I had Eagle F1s on a previous RS4 - they were MUCH better than the OE Pirelli P Zeros, and good enough for me to confidently drive on snow and ice - so I wouldn't write them off that quickly, but it's your car so it's your call.
  15. I'd go for All-Season tyres - otherwise you'll be back in the Spring having to buy a new set of wheels for Summer tyres!
  16. Just get Winter, or possibly a better choice All-Season, tyres in the same basic spec (width, profile, load rating, speed rating) as your existing tyres.
  17. Even if the Cybertruck is an F350 competitor it's still mighty heavy F350 5,878-8,132 lbs (2.624 - 3.630kg)
  18. Sounds like you need a MIB2 or MIB2.5 Columbus to get a CD drive. As for the multi-changer, dream on - AFAIK they have never been available in the Octavia 3.
  19. Looks like a problem with the servo motor controlling the RHS temperature mixing flap - either jammed in the cold position or a problem with the motor itself.
  20. That's just the screen, the "intelligence" is in the unit it the glovebox/
  21. If the MIB3 architecture is the same as the MIB2 architecture then the screen is just that, only a screen, and the "intelligence" (and coding) is in the glovebox unit.
  22. PetrolDave replied to Gary1320's topic in Skoda Karoq
    Yes.
  23. Might also be worth posting in the relevant Superb forum if you haven't already done so.
  24. I'm already using 2110 which I guess should really be described as the 2023/2024 update? Hope VW or Skoda sort themselves out and post the 'real' 2024 update sometime soon.
