  1. Yeah but how many days of rain have you had in 2 months, JR?
  2. Well I’ve done sod all to the car for a month. I hate it being dirty but with the wet weather followed by our builder occupying the garden for three weeks means it hasn’t been cleaned for five weeks. 🤮 I’ll shut up moaning now… The only good thing is that the TW Graphene Wax makes washing it a pleasure. It’s amazing stuff.
  3. That exhaust system is a thing of beauty…. 😔
  4. Sorry for the late reply. Please look through this Sticky….
  5. Copy and paste…. site:briskoda.net 280 spark plugs …..into the Google search bar and watch the results appear before your very eyes….
  6. Perhaps get a VCDS owner nearby to scan the car to see if that throughs-up any fault codes.
  7. Yes, you have to remove the tray. IIRC, once the screws are out, you need to slide the tray forwards to remove tongues from grooves at the front of the rear tray. It’s a PITA, as is uncoupling the plug and socket you need to bridge. PS - I might be wrong, but I think there could be more than 8 screws? Anyone have an illustration to confirm?
  8. Would these be valves in the rear boxes? If so, I'd be very surprised if it would produce the issue you describe. I’d suspect it would be related to an injection issue.
  9. If you don’t me asking, but what was the cost of the two maps?
  10. GLWTS, but I’d imagine most 280/272 owners won’t be letting go of their pretty rare cars anytime soon.
  11. Well, that’s not very nice!
  12. Cheers AS. I haven’t touched it for years since the first and last time, so I’ll have to have a look and see if it’s possible to repair it. Last time I looked for a replacement, the cost was so ridiculous I ditched the idea.
  13. Yes, but mine falls to bits when I remove it from the holder… 🙄
  14. Try this…
  15. Oh of course it was going to be a £1,500 part, but then it was… ….n’t! 🙄 Still so many dodgy so-called mechanics around, ready to rip people off.
  16. Best deal I got last year was through Sterling, which is part of Adrian Flux.
  17. Personally I think the carbon “effect” always looks cheap and nasty; they’d have to be colour coded to the car so it’d have to be a bodyshop jobbie.
  18. Horses for courses; there’s no right or wrong decision. One is limited to the max performance of a box but not with a map, albeit beyond Stage 1, it gets very expensive.
  19. Our 2016 280 engine bay is sort of painted, but there’s practically no lacquer.
  20. I would miss ours but if I take it out of its holder, it disintegrates. I would replace it but not at 40 bloody quid.
  21. Seems correct for the figures others have got and that is also a very good price.
  22. Yep, agree with all of that, and in retrospect I wouldn’t use them, but we all know VAG put up more of a fight for warranty claims if it’s been touched outside the network.
  23. I’ve owned four Skoda over the passed 22 years; a MKI Octavia and then a MKI, a MKII and the current MKIII Superb. Until 18 months ago, I’d always used main dealers to service and repair the cars, but after the dash lit-up like a Christmas tree during a holiday to Ireland and every conceivable safety feature stopped working, on return home, I called Lookers in Guildford. They gave me a 3 1/2 week wait or that’d be 5 weeks if I wanted a courtesy - whoops, nah not anymore of course - a £30 per day rental car, and that was just for me to spend £120 for them to diagnose “the problems, as it sounds like there has been multiple failures” - and their complete lack of help or empathy, I’ll never use any main dealer again. I then called a highly respected local independent VAG specialist, who said I could bring the car into them in three days, I’d have a free loan car and oh, not to worry as it almost certainly would just be a wheel sensor which had failed. And that proved to be exactly the case! I should add that for obvious reasons, I’d always use the main dealer whilst the car is in warranty.
  24. Bit of a boast and a bit of a concern where that was going! I presume you’re looking for a good set and that they’re not too expensive? Gone are the days of Champion and NKG’s at 2 quid a pop; plugs now appear to be ridiculously expensive at about 80 odd quid a set.
  25. It would do, given your car is a diesel with a 16:1 compression ratio; there is s0d all engine braking on the 2.0 TSI.
