  1. Yes must come off, 14xzn for the carriers
  2. If it's still overcooling after all of that I'd question if the work was actually done by the mechanic..did he give you the old parts.
  3. Thanks for replying, no fault codes stored (checked with OBDELEVEN) may send the binnacle off
  4. Hi, I've got an 02 Fabia TDI. Can someone advise what the fluid colour should be? Is it green? Thanks.
  5. Hi all, just bought an ATD engine PD100 (privately),and I missed the fact the C.E.L didn't come with ignition! I've pulled the binnacle and the dials off the board but there's nothing untoward, no tape, no Sharpie, nothing. I'm assuming it may have been mapped out? For what reason I'm not sure as having scanned it there aren't any stored codes. Any idea if I can (using Obdeleven) remove any map? Thanks, PP
  6. Yeah, block 93, should read - (negative) then a number. I've heard anything lower than -5 i.e 5 or 6 means the chain is stretched. My 2.0tsi is on -3.7 for example last time I checked!
  7. That definitely sounds like a stretched chain or failing chain tensioner. A cheap code reader will tell you the code. Anything cam correlation related will be chain out of time. Get it sorted asap before it destroys itself.
  8. Yep, mine frayed in the driver door hinge from normal opening & closing. The crash sensor in these are in the driver's door so throws an SRS light.
  9. DMF may be on its way out, explain why the vibration stops when you press the clutch. The springs in the dmf can fail causing excess movement
  10. It's used to reduce vibration, they should be on the trailing side of caliper
  11. Contact vag bolts on eBay, he'll have the M10 & M8. You can also put your VIN in Skoda7zap or LLLparts to find your part numbers. They aren't the most user friendly sites as they're free.
  12. Did they change any brakes/discs/pads at service? If they didn't push in or wind in the rear pistons (properly) they'll be seriously dragging on the discs
  13. Youre best off getting some verniers on the actual bar
  14. Yes but they'll have slightly different parts numbers for Skoda/VW/seat etc
  15. Yeah I'd risk it. Intermittent issues are a pain. May be worth getting a scanner on it to see what code is stored. Might have just interrupted a dpf cycle
  16. Springs are a nightmare to get right, the original ones would have had a colour code on them.
  17. Likely they re used the lower chain cover (which is almost impossible not to bend) when taking it off.
  18. Don't need to touch the drive shaft bolt for the front brakes? But the 200nm should be done off the ground, further 180° on the ground. Use new bolt, or risk it snapping as they are one time use 'stretch bolts'
  19. Use a new bolt, 3/4 bar and impact socket. It doesn't seem too bad using the proper kit and will ease around to the 180° if you're nice and smooth. It does seem a lot on paper, but I put my trust in the engineers. I personally wouldn't reuse a drive shaft bolt or do it to just xxx as it's essentially what's holding your wheel on.
  20. Carbon build up on the valves causes cold start and running issues. I assume you've scanned it and have no codes? If not, look at getting a carbon clean. Injectors, plugs and coils 'should' throw an engine light
  21. Sounds flywheel related. When was the last oil change & adaption
  22. Two either side, engine mount down the left of engine as you look at it. (transmission mount under the air box) third, sometimes known as the dog bone mount is underneath, holding transmission to subframe. They are quite easy to change, just need to move the coolant bottle/water filler neck for the engine mount. The air box for the transmission mount. just use new bolts as they are stretch bolts. Swap one side at a time. Jack the relevant side from underneath prior to loosening the bolts. Buy Lemforder from autodoc or similar.
  23. Be careful because the rear disc size could be 272 mm. It tends to be the pre-facelift that are 282mm but it is known that some 282 calipers moved over to the face lift production, I assume to use up excess parts. It's a P.I.T.A but I'd take a disc off and measure it, or order both sizes and return the pair you don't need.
  24. Problem is they set the wheel to 'straight' and lock it in, stood from outside the car, which is a big difference to 'straight' sat in the driver's seat. Even an inch can look weird
  25. In all the years of cruising various VAG forums I've never heard of this happen (dsg or not) if it did happen to me, the last thing I'd be concerned about is trying to save/stall the gearbox as the engine will be goosed.
