  1. Ah I knew I wasn't going mad: https://web.archive.org/web/20051024022312/http://www.skoda.co.uk/skoda3g/content/showroom/fabia/pricing.aspx Xenon headlights [Fabia vRS only] £500
  2. Have you got the 2005/2006 brochure PDF? None of those links on your site seem to work at the minute and wanted to check something out. I saw this earlier: https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/398384581800076/ An elegance with xenon headlights. Looks pretty factory, as the correct headlight switch without levelling control and washers are in the bumpers. As far as I was aware, in the UK at least xenon were a vRS only option.
  3. Are you really bothered about being able to lock it ever again? It might be possible to force the lock open with a screwdriver and hammer etc. Often locks like that aren't the best security devices. The towbar should still be able to lock in to place with the key lock "permanently unlocked"
  4. Try hitting the ball of the towbar with a hammer, so you're hitting it towards the car, i.e. it's levering it up, whilst at the same time trying to turn the release lever. If it's been on a while it could be a bit seized and a good whack can free the locking mechanism up.
  5. This is what it started out like. After a lot of scraping, it was only just visible.
  6. If it's a Thule or Brink then again the number should be stamped on the barrell. It took a lot of cleaning and scraping to see the number on mine. Daft question, but are you sure it's even locked?
  7. https://www.witter-towbars.co.uk/accessories/keys/westfalia-detachable-neck-keys Have a look here. I had similar with the Thule towbar on mine. Arrived with no key.
  8. The key number is usually engraved on the barrel of the lock. Probably covered in grime but it should still be there.
  9. The window regulator cable will have broken. It's a common occurrence in the entire VAG range.
  10. They are my daily wheels. I got sick of the 18" wheels with 40 profile tyres. A set of Michelin crossclimate tyres in 205/55/16 + the cost of the wheels was cheaper than a full set of 225/40/18.
  11. I have a set of 16" Dover wheels from a Mk7 Golf fitted to mine.
  12. You'd definitely get better value by switching to 195/65/15 tyre sizes. Just looking at cross climates, they are £30 per tyre cheaper in that size.
  13. I used to run summer and winter tyres and swap them over, but I got fed up of that. The last few years I just fitted a set of all seasons and have not noticed any drawbacks. The Crossclimate2 are one of the most consistent all rounders in recent tyre tests, in all weathers. No they are not quite as good as a full summer tyre in hot weather, but you are not driving a sports car, nor are they a full hardcore winter tyre, but they are a very good all rounder. Given where you are in the country, I'd expect you get a very good range of weather? For me it was a no brainer to fit all seasons.
  14. You would probably be better off fitting 195/65/15 tyres instead. They are a much more commonly available tyre size, and are far cheaper than 205/60/15. You can get a full set of Michelin CrossClimate2 all seasons in 195/65/15 fitted at Kwikfit for less than £280 currently.
  15. Technically there is no filler hole in the top of the gearbox, but it's certainly possible using the oil filter hole. It's no more difficult than a regular oil change.

Just spotted your motor going down the a57. Looking good 👍
  17. It's usually much cheaper to source wheels yourself and simply get tyres fitted. I managed to find a set of wheels that were from a Mk7 golf that were only a couple of years old for £100 on an eBay listing
  18. I've just checked and you can still get 4 crossclimate 205 55 16 fitted at Kwikfit for £312. They're a bargain.
  19. Yes that's the right operating temperature for the UK. I wouldn't bother with spending the extra for a Skoda box. Don't buy the cheapest cheap one, you can get Febi one from Amazon for £16 https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00DZM877I/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_AABQ7VNT67RT7CD4F5JF?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
  20. I also agree. I had a full set of CC2 fitted just a month ago. They are much quieter than the Toyo 205/55/16 tyres that were fitted to the wheels when I got them, and in the wet weather they have no problem with standing water, wet performance is great. Not had a chance to try them in any snow yet, but given previous reviews I shouldn't imagine I'd have any problems. Yes 16" wheels don't look quite as good as 18s, but that's about the only drawback.
  21. Can't say I've ever heard of a pure drive. I assume this is a car for sale that you're looking at? Post a link to the advert and we should be able to work out what trim and spec it is.
  22. That looks exactly like how the switch went on my old 55 plate Octavia. I wonder if it's my old car.
  23. All cars with xenon headlights have headlight washers, and all superb have them at the bottom of the lights. Pre-facelift: Facelift: The Facelift was released around June 2013. The facelift uses a different xenon bulb to the earlier model.
  24. If your superb is a pre facelifted model then yes. Take your old bulbs out, remove the plastic retainer clips off the old bulbs, put them on the new bulbs and clip the new bulbs in.
  25. These are a very good price on Amazon currently. As you are buying from Amazon directly you can guarantee they will be genuine osram bulbs. As said, replace the pair of them at the same time. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00HWWX7R2/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_5MMAG9CC7BTWGSJV78N1
