Cleaning Inside of Headlight Lens
I very much doubt you'll get a microfibre cloth anywhere near the lense. The only real access you have to clean it is through the bulb hole, or as golf-fiend has shown, with some seriously bent pipe cleaners.

Superb 2 purchase advice & ICE upgrade question
That sounds like a really good buy, especially given the prices at the minute. Hopefully the condition checks out when you see it in the flesh.

Karoq no cd player
As has been said before, there is no CD player that is compatible to simply plug into the USB socket. If you really don't want to convert your CDs, your best bet is something like this CD player with an FM transmitter. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B091YP389H Plug it into the USB to charge, play the disc, and then tune the radio to the station that it transmits.

Superb 2 purchase advice & ICE upgrade question
The 2011 SE didn't come with bluetooth as standard, however if you can hold out, personally I'd definitely wait until an elegance came up. None of them came with DAB at that age, but the elegance gets adaptive xenon headlights, leather heated seats and columbus satellite navigation as standard over the SE. Is there a reason you don't want an estate? They are exactly the same length car, the estate simply adds more practicality. Not that I'm biased because I own one, but I think the estate is a much better looking car

Cleaning Inside of Headlight Lens
Yes it made quite a difference. Also make sure to clean the reflector, as I found that was also covered in a layer of dirt.

Cleaning Inside of Headlight Lens
I found these kids sponge brushes invaluable when I cleaned the projector lenses on my old mk2 Octavia. As the headlights are so easy to remove, it was quite easy to do on the dining table. Popped the bulbs out, sprayed in some glass cleaner down the hole and then used one of these to clean the lenses. I then wrapped a piece of kitchen roll around the end to ensure they were fully clean.

Water in spare wheel compartment / light bulb warning / roof door
Another area to check are the vents that are in the body behind the rear bumper. A friend had a mk2 Fabia where the boot and spare wheel well would fill with water. After a lot of tracing using the hose, found that one of these had been cracked from a previous graze with a gate post when she was reversing. Bumper was slightly scratched, but nothing looked broken from the outside. After stripping down the boot interior, we found that when water ran down, it would track along down by the lights, and then in through the vent, where it then found its way along down to the spare wheel well. Given that the car has been written off, it would be prudent to check they are not letting water in.

Wheel change to 16" from 18" TDI 170 2010
That's right, the wheel fitment is exactly the same, it's just the plastic caps that are different.

Wheel change to 16" from 18" TDI 170 2010
I bought some Skoda ones from eBay. The caps from the 18" wheels are 55mm where as these are 65mm.

Wheel change to 16" from 18" TDI 170 2010
Going from 225/40/18 to 205/55/16 is only 0.8% difference in the overall diameter. No need to change anything in vcds.

xenons
They can get really quite dirty inside

xenons
Chances are the lenses will need a clean. Take the entire headlight out (easy on the mk2 Octavia). Remove the bulb, and you can clean the inside of the lenses once the bulb is out. I found one of the below kids sponge on a stick ideal when I did mine.

Thermostat replacement
Then you definitely have a problem. It should reach and stay at 90 on the coolant temperate gauge after a few miles of driving. Although not guaranteed to be the simple DSG thermostat, it's the best first port of call, as it's a cheap part and can be done DIY in around 30-40 minutes. I had exactly the same problem with my Superb when I first bought it. Temp gauge would barely get above 70. It was under warranty at the time, so I got a garage to diagnose it. After having the car for the best part of a day, they diagnosed "faulty thermostat". As I wasn't paying for the work, I just let them get on with it. They changed the main thermostat... surprise surprise, no difference. When I went back to them afterwards, it took me going through the part diagrams and highlighting the parts to show them that there is actually another thermostat in the system. Before that I was met with "We've changed the thermostat sir, there isn't another one" The part on the parts system is described as "Coolant Regulator", so its not a surprise that most garages, even Skoda often have no idea that it exists and how it can affect the system not getting up to temp. At that point I'd had enough with them, and for the sake of £20 for the part, I changed it myself. Glad I did, and I'd suggest the same to anyone with the same issues. You only need basic tools to change it.

EA189 Emissions confusion
Got a link to the for sale advert? It should be easy to work out which engine it has even without the engine code. The PD engines have co2 output in the 140gm range, where as the CR are lower around 129. According to Parkers, the PD stopped May 2010, and the CR was available from June. https://www.parkers.co.uk/skoda/octavia/hatchback-2004/20-tdi-pd-elegance-(2009)-5d/specs/ https://www.parkers.co.uk/skoda/octavia/hatchback-2004/20-tdi-cr-elegance-5d/specs/

EA189 Emissions confusion
Only the vrs had the PD engine dropped for the common rail in 2008. The rest of the lower power engines were pd until 2010.
-
EA189 Emissions confusion
2010 if I remember correctly was the change over year where they went from PD to the ea189 common rail engines. It may have a PD engine which will be unaffected. Post a link to the car we may be able to play detective.

What did the coolant temperature gauge show? The oil temp in the maxidot display is engine oil temperature.

Xenon headlamps help!
No, H7 halogen and D2S xenon bulbs are totally different. Just fit them with a set of the correct bulbs with ballasts. Chances are it will pass an MOT. If not, keep your original halogen units to swap back in for an MOT.

Xenon headlamps help!
Presuming these are genuine xenon lamps, you'll need a set of D2S bulbs, and appropriate ballasts. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/250504146872?hash=item3a5335efb8:g:EJgAAOSw-yxU23Ki You can use ballasts from a HID kit with D2s adapters.

Thermostat replacement
It's underneath the air intake pipe. Removing the air filter box, intake pipe, the battery and the battery tray gives plenty of access. It's pretty straight forward to do, shouldn't take much more than 30-40 minutes.
