MIB1 android auto/ car play solution
This is really interesting and might make life a little more palatable for us MIB1 users. I see when he plugs in the phone via USB he uses the port of the device as opposed to the OEM USB input - I wonder whether the OEM USB is compatible or not as it's a great location for plugging in the phone.

Rear Window on Hatch Replaced - Can hear loose glass sliding. Any way to get it out?
So update - they wanted to strip the interior trim again to have a look. I told them there's no point as I've already done it and tbh do not want them to cause more damage to my car. They refused to take out the new glass they put in to hoover the glass out directly. Does anyone have any more ideas to stop the glass from moving up and down the sides of the hatch when it's being opened and closed? When I had the trim off I tried hoovering right where the glass meets the body with a nozzle but nothing came out. I've seen on an audi tt forum and seat forum that some people have been able to put some expanding foam at the bottom of their panels to 'catch' the glass that's rattling around. Has anyone does this with their Octy? I just wish I knew where to put it as the hatch appears to have several cavities in it.

2015 Octavia VRS manual - what to replace gear shift knob (and boot) with
Hey Ash! 6-Speed Manual Knob and Leather Boot is available on Skoda Parts but unfortunately they don't seem to have the manual VRS badged one. This is the closest I can find to the trim for the centre vents - seem to come as a unit! Hope this helps. My own gear shift is starting to wear down, too.

Rear Window on Hatch Replaced - Can hear loose glass sliding. Any way to get it out?
Very time consuming. I had the trim off again just there - both the carpet and the plastic that joins up with the brake light - and whatever is going on I cannot get access to any of that glass. No matter how much I open and close the hatch. I did the trick where you put straws at the end of a hoover nozzle and although it didn't work getting any glass out - on the opposite end of the car it got a couple of parking tickets out from between the front windscreen and the dash!

Infotainment retrofitting
Oh boy. The MIB1 can stay there so! It's a great system, I can't complain. The Columbus still looks modern - just need to live without the joy of Carplay!

Infotainment retrofitting
I have a Columbus MIB1 with Canton - I'm hoping I can be corrected here but I take it that to upgrade to MIB2 I will also need to upgrade my Canton amp ? Would really like that Apple Carplay/Android Auto experience. Other than that I'm a fan of my setup.

Rear Window on Hatch Replaced - Can hear loose glass sliding. Any way to get it out?
Hi guys. Thank you for your responses. I have removed the trim and taken a look - I reckon I could keep the hatch halfway open from the inside but I don't know where to put the vacuum cleaner - Is there any holes in particular or is it just where the glass makes contact with the metal and hope for the best?

Rear Window on Hatch Replaced - Can hear loose glass sliding. Any way to get it out?
Had the misfortune of someone smashing my back window. Had a crew out from the insurance to change out the back window. They did a fair job but the biggest problem is that they didn't seem all that bothered about vacuuming all of the loose glass as I found a lot of it in the boot, on the road and, worst of all, inside the hatch itself which I can hear every time I open and close it. I brought it up with the company and of course they tried to fob me off. I held my ground as my mk3 is my pride and joy and they're being paid handsomely for the job. They said it's hard to access all the glass. I would have understood that had they done their job properly and tidied up after themselves or at least used a nozzle when vacuuming - which I saw they hadn't. They're willing to take a look at it again during the week. I've already taken out the trim in the hatch and sadly it's not there so it's probably between the new screen and the body of the hatch. Has anyone any experience of this? Is there any way to get this glass out or will they have to change it again? Thanks all!

Steering wheel slightly off centre
Need to get this done myself. Have the car in for a service and have another mkiii as a courtesy car with the same issue. It's alignment is fine but the steering wheel is only ever so slightly to the left to stay straight otherwise if I put it at 12 o'clock the car goes to the right. Hope the mechanic will let me centre the wheel.

17" or not to 17" alloys?
Hi there! I haven't taken the plunge but have been tempted on numerous occasions to go down from my 18 geminis to 17s but I would go the OEM route. OEM 17" VRS Alloys There is a saving to be had in terms of comfort levels, tyre replacement and a far less likely chance of curbing them. What holds me back is going to the trouble!

Car hesitant to start
Any update on this? I don't think my 2015 battery is acting up but I'm wondering is it making my cold start cranking issue worse, despite being there since 2016.

2018 vRS floor mats - where from?
Hi there. I went and bought a new RHD driver's side only mat for my RS from Skoda Parts . It arrived in a few days and is a proper Skoda part with red stitching. €27 for the one mat but better than buying the full set from kopacek which is €80 for the RS set.

Occasional starting problems!
I think you've nailed it Gabbo. They're more than likely well aware of the issue but aren't too concerned given that they've moved on. I have to admit it can be embarrassing when I forget to manually let the glow plugs heat up first as it can crank for 10s+ which sounds like an old tractor trying to start. Serious downer when the rest of the car looks well.

Timing belt
I know I'm repeating myself but a Skoda dealership in Munich informed me that, having checked my VIN (Irish Reg VRS TDI) that the interval was 210,000km without a time limit but would advise every 10 years just in case. The 10 year interval sounds far more reasonable. That said, on the issue of who I would get to change my belt, in Ireland the dealer wanted €500 but the peace of mind of the 2 year warranty is worth the extra €50 vs the independent imo. Got a quote of €550 from the German dealer.

Occasional starting problems!
I love my Skoda but I'm strongly thinking that my next car is going to be Japanese for the sake of not having to deal with these odd issues. I don't want electric, but I hope when that time comes either Hydrogen or Synthetic Fuels will finally be an option.

Occasional starting problems!
Apologies for reviving an old thread but thought I'd add here - I have a 2015 VRS fully serviced at the local dealer and have had the same problem since the car was about 1yr old. I mentioned it while it was still under warranty and told the usual 'we haven't heard of that before' classic line. They couldn't replicate the problem as I had driven an hour to get there so the engine was nice and warm when they tried to start it. I find that 100% of the time the car will start without bother if I press the start button once and let the glow plugs go out before then depressing the clutch and pressing the button again to start. I was under the impression the ecu would look after all of that so that I wouldn't have to do it the old fashioned way? Does this problem still exist and Skoda simply don't care?

Rear Wiper Motor - Part Number for Hatch and where to buy?
Thanks ords! Just got a quote from dealer - €200 for the part alone. Ouch.

Rear Wiper Motor - Part Number for Hatch and where to buy?
Hi all. My searching techniques have not proven useful on this occasion so hope you can help! My rear wiper motor is on the way out - the motor itself has gotten weaker with each stroke and now I noticed that it no longer sprays the washer. I removed the little jet piece itself to see nothing coming out. Does anyone know the part number for the hatch (my2015) and the best place to buy one? I have no doubt the dealer would love to tap me for a new one but I haven't heard of them being revised and are as unreliable as ever. Thanks!

Preface lift heated steering wheel
It's one feature I would have loved alright. That said is there also a need to wire in a switch to turn it on or is it something that activates with the heated seats? I would love to simply put a new steering wheel in my car as the current one has gone far too shiny/worn. Leather cleaner did bring it back a good bit but not as good as new sadly. I do love that matte look.

VRS sound generator - what cost, and what would have been a better alternative?
I would have sacrificed the sound generator for a proper RHD conversion for the Handbrake and Bonnet Release. Other than that more sound deadening would have been nice. I do love my RS.

Sound Deadening - anyone added some?
Hi all, Am seriously thinking about adding some Dynamat to my own 2015 RS but I don't trust myself to not damage the interior of the car in the process. Has anyone used a professional installation service they would recommend? I see noise killer offer the service but they won't do the door panels - whereas I'd like the whole car done. Thanks.!

Cambelt Failure
Wow. Is that the car's first belt change since new? If so - well done! I'm in the same camp of following manufacturer's guidelines as opposed to dealership. That said a dealership in Germany told me their interval on TDI engines is 210,000km or 10 years, twice the length of time they quote here!

‘Built-in’ Dashcam options?
Has also made me realise why factory integrated dash cams aren't a thing.

Ok I'm an idiot - can someone point on that photo where the front subframe mounts are?

Glovebox Rubber Stopper Torn - Part Number?
Hi all. I hope I described it right - but does anyone know where I can get a replacement for the highlighted parts of the pic below? The mechanic who was servicing the car a few months back had broken it - as I only discovered today that the glovebox had been removed and not properly replaced as the soft close lever wasn't reattached. The highlighted part on the left was in the back of the box and because of that the left side of the glovebox wobbles when it's opened. Because it was so long ago I don't think there's a point in bringing it up with the mechanic but can I source a replacement from Skoda? The VW version is part number 5g0898010b for about £10 and comes with other bits and pieces for the glovebox - but they look very different from the Skoda version. Anyone have any idea of a part number before I go to my dealer? Hopefully it's available. Thanks all!
