karoq - and service schedule on MySkoda app
Ours is out of sync as it was (allegedly) a VW Group employee car which they kept longer than usual. Those cars, indeed all leased cars, and some privately bought car like our old Tiguan, where they forgot to switch it to fixed interval, are left on the longlife servicing. So ours is shown in the service history the dealer printed out as having an "oil change" service, which is literally that and a few very basic safety checks, at 16mths old. However the dealer is absolutely adamant that they did a variable / longlife service, which has more extensive checks and the pollen filter is changed. When we got the first service in our ownership, at 28mths old, done a year after the previous service, they would only do an oil change service "because it had a full service last time". Then at our second service, at 40 mths old, they did seem to do a fuller service (check sheet was longer, and they changed the pollen filter). However they also wanted me to pay £172 to have the spark plugs changed as the car will hit 4yrs old before its next service. As it's only done 12K miles and I'm hoping All In will cover the spark plugs, I declined - but I expect an argument about that next year, when it should normally be due a major service, but they'll say it had one last time. For balance, I'm also having a nightmare with our Hyundai EV - it does about 15K/yr and it's supposed to be on 2yr/20K service intervals, but both local dealers insist it needs an interim service at 10K. Hyundai have sent about half-a-dozen emails without answering the question about whether it's essential for the warranty or not.

Karoq 2020, 1.5 tsi, front suspension knocking and squeeking
I don't know if it's date specific but our 22 Karoq makes a knocking sound which supposedly comes from the front shock absorber pistons rattling in the bump stops. It's most noticeable on slow corners, especially when there more than two people in the car. Dealer "fixed" it by greasing the pistons but it came back after 6 months, although we don't use the car much. They said they regreased them at last service but I don't believe them and it was just as noisy as before.

W/screen wiper fault
Sorry, daft question - even when they're switched off? If left on auto on a dry day they can just randomly wipe for no apparent reason.

Karoq fault at 3 months old
Noting that the OPs car has done only 850 miles in 3 months, I wonder if this could be battery related? Low charge can throw up all sorts of random errors.

My skoda app. failed
What does the MySkoda App do? I've never bothered to activate it.

iPhone 16 issues
Don't know how helpful it is, but my iPhone15 works fine on our 2018 SEAT Ateca, using the USB A (car) to USB C (phone) cable.

Suspension Knocking
Appreciate that you think it's fixed, but the knocking on slow speed (probably does it higher speeds but is overcome by road noise) cornering sounds (no pun intended) same as ours - which was put down to the shock absorber pistons knocking on the bump stops as the top of the struts. There's a Skoda TSB about it - "fix" is to grease the piston rods which of course only works for a bit. It only rarely does it when there's one or two people in the car, but put our decent sized grandchildren in the back and it's much more noticeable. With four adults in the car the knocking is insane.

Spark Plugs - 1.5TSI Karoq
Took wife's 1.5TSi in today for its 3rd service today - it's a little over 3yrs old as we bought it approved used and the dealer did a longlife service just before we collected it so it's all out of sync now. Car has done 12500 miles. I thought service cost was covered by the 2 services plan that the car came with but was told it was "recommended" the spark plugs were changed - for £174.02 🫨 I declined. How on earth can service items not be covered by the service plan? Of course dealer just blamed Skoda.

Heater windcreen - how do I tell if it is an original screen
Would it show in the Consumers menu when it's on?

The need for an aircon service?
It's clearer colder in our Ateca - icy cold out the vents. The Karoq reminds of a Mercedes I had where the a/c seemed to do just about enough, but nothing more. Owned that car for 15yrs, had various work done the a/c but it never improved. Yet they sell the same car is the US and Saudi etc and it's the same setup. You can change the a/c profile in both the Ateca and Karoq in the HVAC setup menu in the infotainment. Not clear exactly what it does - the only obvious thing is the lowest fan speed is a little higher as you go up in profile.

The need for an aircon service?
The dealer changed the compressor on ours at about 18mths old and I'm sure it just needed regassing (was a making a squealing noise in hot weather, but there was always a background fan like noise from the dash when the a/c was on). With a new compressor the background noise was just the same, and a courtesy Karoq they gave me was the same. The squealing is gone, but like I said, I reckon that was just low gas (have had similar in other cars but after much longer ownership). We also have an Ateca and the a/c on that is completely silent.

The need for an aircon service?
I had a similar offer from my local dealer - astonishingly it doesn't include the regas, it's just a disinfect of the evaporator.

Skoda Finance Redemption
Oh dear - if you'd called a few days earlier and asked to Withdraw and it would have cost you just a few pounds.

date of production dilemma
If the car was built in Sept 19 then the instrument cluster must have been changed - I guess, like anything, they can fail.

2023 Karoq, Selling after 10 months.
Our 22 (just pre-faclift) Karoq isn't great in this respect. I'm running our daughter's old 2018 SEAT Ateca 1.0 manual at the moment. It's nudging 90K miles and it's such a nicer drive than the Karoq it's hard to believe they're pretty much the same car. Ateca is on 17" CrossClimates vs the Karoq's 18" Primacy's but the difference seems far greater than that.

Checking Oil
The oil check procedure is designed for checking the level when you're out on a run so the engine will be hot. Typically. stop for fuel, refuel, check oil. So hot, with engine stopped for a few mins. In practice I find the level to be pretty similar when checking stone cold. The dipstick does take a good tug.

Does the Karoq work as a 1L Petrol?
They do still offer it in other models, just not Karoq. When it was dropped they thinned down the drivetrain configurations quite a lot - quick look back says 12 versions dropped. VW Group have been increasing dropping manuals recently.

Noise from both LHS (? top mount area) and steering motor
I wouldn't like to swear either way - we don't use the car much so it's only done a couple of K miles since the "fix" and the car is rarely loaded, which is when the noise is most noticeable. I thought I did hear it the other day when reversing and turning on a slope, but I haven't noticed it in other driving but it never really did it with one or two of us in the car. Will have 4 adults in the car in a couple of weeks.

Does the Karoq work as a 1L Petrol?
I'm driving daughter's old 1 litre manual SEAT Ateca at the moment. It's nudging 90K miles and it drives amazingly well. In manual form, it does have a lot of gears (6) but it's quite high geared and we live in a semi-rural area so don't need to use 5th and 6th much - there's quite a range available in each of the ower gears. It's amazing economical - in trips where our Karoq would be doing high 30's MPG, the Ateca will be nudging 50. Power-wise, it is what it is, if that makes sense. I'd say it's perfectly adequate, but probably best to avoid iffy fast A road overtakes.

Approved used - "free" MOT?
In advance of going in for the MOT I'd emailed the sales guy we dealt with. He read my email within a few mins of sending it but didn't reply. Called him a week later and he said of course the MOTs are included and he would sort it out. Went in today and was asked how I'd be paying. I said I won't be as it's covered by the package that came as part of the deal The service advisor looked at me like I was trying to steal £50 out of her purse. Found the sales guy and he said he'd sort it. On leaving, I wasn't asked to pay and I asked about the next MOT. Service manager / supervisor type person said he'd sort it, and the sales guy then appeared and I asked him if I'd been dreaming about the 2 MOTs being included and he threw a curve ball which was that they're only included if they fall within the 2yrs of package duration. The service manager latched on to that and said they've had that happen with servicing too - yet that shows on the Skoda app as having a 4yr expiry and it has on other VW service packages we've had - I assume to cover people who use longlife servicing. It's all a bit moot as once the warranty and roadside cover expire in August I'll buy All In if we still have the car, but its frustrating that a simple thing results in a disagreement.

Changing to USB C phones ………….
USB A to USB C cable works fine in our 2018 Ateca for wired CarPlay (doesn't have wireless).

Engine running cold? Stuck open thermostat?
I'm running daughter's old 1 litre manual Ateca at the moment. The water temp engine gets up to temp very quickly - the temp "gauge" is LED sections in the Ateca, but the first one appears very quickly - seems like moments - and it's at the mid-point (=90C) in a couple of miles of rural road driving. As it happened I had the coolant temp in the multifunction display today and I noticed it was at 90C as soon as I got onto the main road out of our village - of course much milder today, outside temp was 12C. I would say the oil temps I'm seeing are same as yours - takes ages for the oil to get hot and I noticed at 60/70 today it was hovering in the mid 80's, The oil temp seems to jump around a few degrees too. The coolant temp just sits at 90 although I believe VW engineer it do that - it's not the actual temp, it's the engine ECU saying "OK". I've been paying attention to the temps as I don't think the heater in the Ateca is great - it's adequate, but doesn't seem to get hot as quickly as our Karoq does. Is your car manual or auto?

Nearly 2 years of ownership.
As ours is a similar age I'd be keen to hear about what the brake pad issue is - had to get the rear pads and discs done unexpectedly on daughter's Ateca (noted at 50% at previous service) and it was horribly expensive even with 10% off but didn't have time to shop around are argue about it. I asked our village garage and they were iffy about whether their diagnostic kit could deal with the EPB. I've mentioned it elsewhere but the Ateca (late 2018 model) rides so much better than the Karoq. It is on 17" CrossClimates but the difference in the way the car feels "planted" on the road, yet is compliant over poor surfaces, feels far greater than just inch smaller wheels would suggest. We've run winter wheel and tyre sets on other cars and there's not been a noticeable difference.
