  1. Well, I bought mine from HIDs Direct over four years ago, they worked perfectly from the off and are still going strong....but I'm sure they've changed what's available for something "improved". Just a question....have you tried removing them and replacing them, having given half-a-turn (ie turn them around through 180 degrees)? I seem to remember that some on here needed to do this in order to get working as they should.
  2. As luck would have it, I still have the 2013 brochure from when I purchased my Citigo Elegance and no....alloys were only standard fit on the Elegance and a £400 to £550 option on the SE.
  3. The reason I mentioned it...I looked on eBay for seat-belt extenders (curiosity - don't actually need them) and found pictures of them fitted looking decidedly dangerous. See here... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2pcs-36cm-Car-Auto-Safety-Seat-Belt-Seatbelt-Extension-Extender-Buckle-Guard-Kid-/252833432756?epid=701257666&hash=item3ade0c04b4:g:evEAAOSwzgBY2dvu
  4. Reading this thread ( and similar ones on the same subject) I realise what a lucky boy I was back in 2013 when I bought my new Citigo. I fitted a pair of LED DRLs from HIDs Direct...absolutely no issues at all, simply plug-and-play. They're nearly four and a half years old and still as bright as new...as I say, lucky!
  5. I hope that, when fitted, it doesn't re-position the buckle over the soft parts of your abdomen...a definite no-no. The buckle should be at the side, away from soft body-parts.
  6. Yes, but I assume that if they are displaying the Skoda National Pricing List, then they ARE a "participating dealership". The point I was making is that, even if prices are displayed in the service department, they are not definitive....it's always worth negotiating/ haggling.
  7. Don't forget that Skoda's Price is the MAXIMUM that a dealer is permitted to charge....the dealer is free to charge what he likes , up to that maximum. My first service (three years ago) was quoted at £139....I mentioned that some on here had got it for less than £100, and the reply was "OK, how does £90 sound?). It was that easy! I've "negotiated" about a third off quoted prices ever since....and, yes, the second service did include a rear brake "strip and clean".
  8. Strange....because both VW and Skoda call the void below the windscreen....the plenum chamber. (And so did Citroen when I owned several of them). From my Citigo handbook..."ensure that the drainholes at either end of the plenum chamber are kept free of debris" Here's VW's version..... http://www.volkswagen.co.uk/need-help/owners/plenum-chamber
  9. ...you do know that there is no factory-fitted alarm?....unless they have "upped" the spec recently!
  10. Yes, another possible cause. However, if there is the usual hyper-concentration of VAG additive in the washer-bottle, you'd soon notice the smell!
  11. A common cause of water ingress into these cars is via the plenum chamber...that large empty space beneath the windscreen- if the drain holes at either end aren't clear, water builds up and enters the front footwells. Don't know if if can get to the rear from the front, though. If there's a large amount in the rear footwells, it may well be from somewhere else...at the back end of the car. Sorry, that's as far as my "water in Citigo" knowledge goes!
  12. My Citigo is 2013 and the manual is dated 11.2012...and it definitely says DRLs at 4 and 22....I thought it seems odd to have a fuse for each side! (Switch illumination and number plate lights at 21 here)
  13. Having looked at the manual again.....DRL fuses at 4 AND 22....so, has somebody removed both fuses? I'd guess at 5 amps....
  14. Just looked in handbook....yes, it actually tells you to remove the fuse if you want to disable the DRLs......fuse number 4 on the underside of dash panel.
  15. I may be imagining this, but.....I seem to remember that some people who don't want DRLs disable them by removing the appropriate fuse. See if a fuse is physically missing?
  16. Does the affected car have Stop-Start engine? I ask because you say you've used a wet-vac on the carpet/seats and the Stop-Start variant has some important equipment (electrics-wise) under the front passenger seat. Just a thought.....
  17. I ordered my Citigo with a (full-size) spare instead of the standard repair kit....the wheel is fitted with it's "outside" facing downwards in the well - and there is the required jack, brace and tools etc in a black polystyrene moulding which fits tightly in the centre of the wheel. This moulding does indeed raise the level by several centimetres so that there is support for the boot floor (or "liner"), keeping it dead level. Perhaps you could either add stiffeners to the underside of the liner....or improvise support with polystyrene packing blocks in the wheel centre?
  18. The only national chain I would use is "formula one autocentres"....they are family-owned and I always have MOT's done there. In about fourteen years, they have never once "invented" work needed to pass MOT. On one occasion they actually spent about 20 minutes freeing a jammed rear seatbelt (Fabia Mk1 Estate) to enable the car to pass MOT (I was present the whole time) and didn't charge for the time/work. I was really impressed (and grateful!). https://www.f1autocentres.co.uk/
  19. I bought this kit about three years ago and am delighted with it....it costs a bit more but comes with a longer (8 metre) pressure hose as standard and includes extra jets specifically for car cleaning....a fan-shaped jet and an underbody jet. http://www.argos.co.uk/product/1577941
  20. I was quoted £139, said that some on here were paying less than £100 and the reply was..."oh, OK, how about £90 then?"....the prices quoted are Skoda's MAXIMUM price - the dealer is free to charge as little as you can negotiate!
  21. Of course they want to sell you all they can...it's called "good business" and if you buy all the services in advance, they prevent you from shopping around/going elsewhere for servicing (which you are fully entitled to do). "Stuff going wrong" fixed under warranty isn't the same as "maintenance". I didn't take them up on any pre-paid offers....just pay for each service when it occurs. However, the price they quote for a service is negotiable...my Skoda dealer takes about 35% off the maximum price that Skoda quote for each service. As a result, my first three services have totalled a lot less than the pre-paid "service plan" that was quoted when buying the car originally. It depends how you approach the servicing guy (or, in my case, lady) and if they are open to bargaining!
  22. My favourite is Bouncer's Done & Dusted.....just look at the reviews.... https://www.amazon.co.uk/Bouncers-Dusted-Quick-Detailer-500ml/dp/B00W9O3Q1A (Can be got for less.....I paid £12.95. Very easy to use and very economical)
  23. Don't worry that this might be the start of something big and on-going. Years ago, I bought a new Fabia Mk1 and at about three weeks old, it stopped at traffic lights and wouldn't go into any gear at all....taken to the dealers, there for several days having gearbox and clutch work (can't actually remember exactly what!) and was perfectly fine and never gave any trouble for the several years that I had it. So....chill, all will be OK!
  24. I have this model (in a kit with lots of extra nozzles, patio washer, extra long pressure hose etc)...bought three years ago, still performing like new. Highly recommended.
  25. ...and it's not only wiper blades that cause fine scratches. Removing ice/frost with a scraper can cause damage, too. I'm lucky that I don't have to do this (garaged car) but if you do, remember...use only a decent-quality proper scraper (no plastic cards/cases etc), always scrape in one direction - away from you (NOT the usual scrubbing action) and avoid doing it if the screen is dirty under the ice/frost. You'll probably notice any (straight) fine scratches only when driving into low sunshine or oncoming headlights and then it's too late!
