  1. After 168k miles the flywheel is grumbling disconcertingly at around 1500rpm on 4th, it round like something has broken off and is rattling around - ok at other revs though, and no hint of clutch slip which is weird. Question is, the old girl is coming is 15 years old, she's probably not worth £1k on the market but worth more to me. She's looking a bit saggy, wheel arches, doors and rear suspension arms have tin worm, so do I replace with a new DMF or convert to single mass?

    @Yety @Prezafab Thanks both

My wheelarches and corners of the doors are slowly being lost to the dreaded tin worm. Can anyone recommend a paint on inhibitor that I can apply before I get the bodywork fixed professionally?
  4. Follow the wiring, as you've said mk 5platform cars usually have an access under the rear seat, my Touran required the whole carpet to be peeled back.
  5. I think they're dual filament, if so yours are goosed.
  6. @J.R. Same here, but a 2005/6 2.0tdi Touran in my case.
  7. @J.R. I've always had classic cars with weak batteries so starting the car with clutch depressed has become a habit over the past 43 years of driving. Thanks for this info about the clutch switch.
  8. Thanks. The PID screen thingy doesn't show any gear change instructions, so you may be on to something. Any ideas where I would find the offending switch?
  9. Afternoon all, I've got an error which shows up on a Carista scan as '05602 clutch switch input circuit fail' I'm new to the Citigo having just landed from the Yeti pages so have no clue what this means! Clutch bites quite high, and I've noticed it doesn't need to be depressed to start the car which is weird as my 2012 Yeti does. Can anyone assist?
  10. @Tudormara sorry mate, I think you've only done half of the job. The steering controller ECU under the steering column usually needs to be changed to a highline version. Probably best you google search 'retrofit mfsw' for Octavia/Superb of the same year which get modded more frequently than Yetis, as the experience I have is with 2010 models.
  11. Hi, did you upgrade the steering controller under the steering column - it's flat black within a yellow connector close to the dash.
  12. Search RCD360 for the gadgets you want, plus an OEM look
  13. The problem with older cars is that by the time you become the owner, you could find you have any 5x112 wheels from the VAG empire fitted !
  14. You should really be putting these questions to those who know their way around VCDS, Carista and OBD11; https://www.briskoda.net/forums/forum/23-diagnostics-amp-vcds/
  15. I have this unit, the latest maps I've been able to find are 2020. I bought the maps on an SD card, it loaded onto the internal HDD and was removed - I have 64gb of music in the sd slot.
  16. You could ask on the VCDS forum if anyone is close to your location who could assist with a scan of the car. My cluster experience was a retrofit upgrade, but if you have an issue with a cluster it's easier to simply get another used version and get it coded to the car - the keys get recoded as part of the process. You'll need to make a note of the cluster part number.
  17. I bought a highline cluster for £50 on ebay and spent another £50 having it coded to the car and the keys.
  18. One possible reason; there has to be a wire from the ECU to the steering controller, without this it won't work. Get googling, there's loads of info out there.

  20. Adopting a new DPF sensor can be done via VCDS, however I'd be wanting to run VAGDPF via Carista OBD dongle to see how blocked the DPF actually is, whether the car regens etc before I'd shell out on new parts.
  21. @J.R. GOAT = Greatest Of All Time - Valentino Rossi, No46
  22. I had this with a Touran, there are YouTube videos showing how to break-in thru the door handle but I couldn't manage it - sadly after removing all the seats I had to trash the door car card to get the door open.
  23. How did you disable the airbag? I have this error on my Yeti and despite best efforts it won't clear.
  24. I have a 1.6tdi Yeti which had one injector 2 years ago which neither restored the lumpy idle, the economy nor the horrible diesel knock noise just off tickover under light load. I tried the injector deviation test on VCDS but it simply destroyed the tickover and made the car sound like it was running on 3 cylinders, I have since found out this doesn't work on SW version 8822. Next steps in the coming weeks are; log the injectors via VCDS over a few miles, clean out the ASV, and I find myself in agreement with @HeavyMetalRich in that I firmly believe a clogged lift pump in the tank may cause starvation issues.
  25. I was in Bishop's Castle, Clun, Craven Arms area yesterday, the area is stiff with Yetis!
