  1. @Sunmoon which gearbox do you have ?
  2. I have RCD315BTDAB in my 2010 Yeti, I've used this in the same car and I was impressed. https://audiotechdirect.com/original-rcd360-6-5-radio-with-apple-carplay-android-auto-for-vw-mqb-platform-19g035280/#:~:text=The RCD360 Plus head unit,an OEM radio from Volkswagen.&text=If your vehicle is equipped, the head unit as well.
  3. £6699 for a 13 year old 1.2tsi ? 🤨 Swapping speedos is complicated and requires dealer level diagnostics, VCDS wont do it - I specified that I wanted backlighting permanently switched on when I upgraded my S spec to full FIS.
  4. @waitpet yes, the parking sensor (when it worked!) worked with the usual picture on the screen. DAB aerial? I bought one from AliExpress which stuck to the screen, worked absolutely fine and cost £10. The RNS315DAB is now in one of your Yetis and continues to give excellent service.
  5. The Yeti is essentially a Golf, search the Golf forums for info, the bits are bound to fit.
  6. I understand this is plug and play, for info I bought a fascia adaptor to fit RNS315DAB into my 2010 S spec from AliExpress for under a tenner.
  7. I ran out of time as I need the car with armrest for a journey tomorrow, it's in, I've not had chance even to clean it yet - it looks weird, but it works.
  8. @J.R. The Yeti and Octavia up to 2013 centre consoles are identical, in fact I have an Octavia until in my 2012 Yeti Greenline S, this unit is for the 2010 S. @muddyjim Thanks
  9. Thanks all. I have the whole console assembly including the leather armrest for £25 delivered so I've got nothing to lose by spraying the plastic bits black - I've had success with leather dying in the past, and going TO black is easier than going the other way. This is a great upgrade for S models that don't have the armrest console as standard, it's surprising how much difference it makes.
  10. Sorry folks, I wasn't clear - it's the rigid plastic of the console I want to paint, the actual resting pad is beige leather and I shall dye that black
  11. I've acquired a used centre console and armrest for a very nice price that is finished in beige, I am looking to match it to my black dash - does anyone know of a paint that will match?
  12. I bought my 2010 2.0tdi S in 2020 with 120k in shocking condition for £2700, it now has about 155k has just passed it's MOT with no advisories and runs like a swiss watch, fuel economy is excellent and we never notice regens. I bought my 2012 1.6tdi S in 2021 with 105k in shocking condition for £3000, it now has 135k has just passed it's MOT with no advisories, it has horrible diesel knock off idle, but otherwise runs ok, regens every 350 odd miles miles with an associated horrible stink and horrible fuel economy at all times.

Did you fit the race poly bushes or the standard ones for tdi's?
  14. Get the 1.6tdi checked on VCDS for EGR, DPF and injector faults. And then reject it anyway because those faults will appear pretty soon anyway.
  15. If it helps, I have 205/55/16 Contis fitted which are quite squashy and the ride isn't too bad, but not as great as the 215s. I agree about ditching the 1.6, I wish I'd never seen mine.
  16. Ever wished you'd not started a thread ??
  17. Your signature says 1.6tdi dsg ? I thought the Greenline models were eco spec to qualify for lower road tax and insurance? Hence the lower profile 205/55/16 and manual gearbox ... If your 1.6tdi has dsg, surely it's not a Greenline and therefore not 'restricted' to 205/55/16 tyres?
  18. Now, on the other hand ... I might use this excuse to the Mrs to justify selling my truly terrible 1.6tdi for another 2.0tdi
  19. I regularly see collision investigator and vehicle examiner reports in the course of my job, I have seen reference to the type, age, condition and tread depth but never a reference to whether the tyre is type approved for the vehicle. How can any owner or vendor be at fault when a mod was done by a previous owner, are they supposed to check the original spec of every car they sell? I presume any lawyer appointed would hedge his bets on such a case and take it on a no-win, no-fee basis.
  20. I've only just changed back to 205/55/16 Contis as they were more economical after a prolonged period on 215/60/16. The ride is now crashy and harsh again, I would go back to 215/60/16 in a heartbeat, I don't subscribe to the type approval mania that infects some club sites. Illegal is a big word, I would imagine there will be a typically gaelic response from the chap who sold you the car

Same issue with both of my RNS315 units
  22. Had one of these in the aux socket on my RNS315 for many years, a bargain at the price.
  23. Buy one of those £5 GPS modules that plug into the back of the unit (Ebay) and test the head unit separately from the inbuilt aerial.
  24. Well done that man! So, are you cleaning or replacing this part?
  25. Surely a vacuum test would be better to know whether the full movement of the actuator is being achieved, often due to carbon build up this doesn't happen.
