  1. My car will be a similar sort of mileage and age in September so planning on having the cambelt and water pump replaced when the car is MOt`d. As others have said, the price quoted by Marshall`s seems over the top. Shop around.
  2. Mine is 5 years old in September and will be 50000+ miles by then so plan to have the cambelt and pump done when it is MOT`d....
  3. Took my Octavia in for a service on Monday and when i collected it, they had printed out a complete service history for me including any additional work or inspections that had been done, so I am sure your dealer could supply a print out if requested?
  4. Funnily enough, my Octavia is going in for a service tomorrow and they want to charge me £40 for swapping my tyres around. Never charged me before.
  5. I owned a Fabia SE estate 1.6CR TDi 105 from brand new which I purchased in 2010 when Skoda was doing a VAT free offer. The car was virtually faultless in 50000 miles and I wish I’d never traded it in for a nightmare of a VW Polo. On the MOT checker it is still going strong at 136k! At no time, have I felt that I have been ripped off and feel the need to be compensated for something. I purchased the car for its low CO2 ratings. Even if I did want to claim, I no longer have no evidence of ownership as it was traded nearly 6 years ago!
  6. There is a protection kit that does boot liner and mud flaps in the IV brochure.
  7. Can answer no4. My Octavia 3 has no service book as service records are electronically held, however my servicing dealer always supplies an invoice and record of work etc so that is my service history for the car. It is a shame not to have a stamped book.
  8. I also thought that SEL First Edition had electric seats?
  9. I always find high mileage cars more interesting than low mileage ones, it does look good and as it’s appears to have a full history it could be a great buy. Just not from these guys in Keighley going by those entertaining reviews! Wait, plenty of cars around.
  10. I frequently see drivers of cars that clearly have the required tech, still unable to park their car or using a phone in the traditional illegal method when the tech is available with the vehicle to use it safely.
  11. Had my 1.6 litre diesel for nearly 47000 miles and nearly 4 years and no issues with it with exception of failed fuel pressure sensor at 36K. Okay it can be a bit noisy at times but is great on fuel and spacious and solid. Easily best car Ive owned and despite always trawling the ads looking at cars, I cant see a reason to trade it in.
  12. And thats plenty of reasons why I dont wat to buy a new car, although to be fair I use stop/start.
  13. Has anyone traded in a Octavia III to Scala? Obviously space will not be so generous, but in terms of build quality and comfort etc. The SE Technology looks interesting. I like the look of the Octavia 4 with exception of the touchscreen heating etc. Thanks for any comment.
  14. Mine went into limp mode, 2500rpm and 50 mph and turned out to be a fuel pressure sensor.
  15. I have a nice large men’s M&S umbrella across the boot of the car. A good solid one, cost about £25!
  16. Was looking at the mk IV configurator again last night and I see on the SEL that can’t have cornering fog lights unless you add the powered tailgate for about £900! But on the SE, you can have the cornering fog lights on there own. Like you, I can’t get over 1 litre “big” cars.
  17. Stick with your Mk3! I’m not entirely convinced with these mild hybrids, seems that manufacturers are all jumping on the hybrid band wagon and most are a compromise. These packaged optional extra bundles aren’t ideal either. I’d be happy with a heated screen and washers, but feel no need for heated seats or steering wheel.
  18. I’ve had my Octavia 1.6TDi 5speed for 46’500 miles and have averaged 58-62 mpg over that time and I don’t hang around either. I think that around 55mpg must be appropriate for a 1.6TDi DSG surely? Your mpg does seem a bit low.
  19. Plenty starting to become available now by the looks of Autotrader. I will probably go with a plain SE without a digital cockpit.
  20. Seems to me that cars are becoming more and more “accessories to compliment your (so called perfect active) lifestyle rather than just a means to undertake a journey in a safe comfortable efficient manner. Which ultimately a car is supposed to be? The more a car is able to be personalised, the more premium the price can be, and the less chance a skinflint like me will be able to pick up a pre reg bargain!
  21. I like the look of Octavia IV but there seem to be plenty of glitches right now.
  22. My car had idles at 750 rpm when out of gear with hand brake on. As soon as you start to depress clutch to engage gear, the revs automatically go up to 1000 rpm. Its an anti stall device. Done it since new....Sept 16 66 reg, 46000 miles.
  23. If the wheel is distorted/ out of square so to speak, surely in time you will develop uneven tyre wear and make affect the handling? Might even weaken the structure of the wheel. I`d personally get it looked at.
  24. Think they are so new, nobody owns one. You maybe the first!
