  1. 1. Anything is possible, why would you bother, Omex is race kit, the Fabia is not. 2. The cat is part of the exhaust manifold, not the exhaust system so no decat. 3. No idea.
  2. The tensioner is usually supplied as a complete assembly which will be held on with a couple of bolts, you may be able to get the pulley by itself in which case the bolt holding it is a left handed thread. Which bit are you replacing?
  3. Replace the belt while you're at it, when you have the new tensioner and belt in hand it should be obvious what needs removing.
  4. Golf axle is different and will not fit. Handbrake cables are different and will not fit. Rear discs are not better than drums on slow cars, just fix the drums, parts are cheaper than the mess you'll make trying to do the swap.
  5. Yes perfect. Fresh MOT next month no problem. Mechanics are easy to understand, they just want free money.
  6. https://thepanicmechanic.com/2016/05/20/how-to-handbrake-adjustment/#:~:text=The average number of handbrake, your rear brakes to drag.
  7. This is a MASSIVE fuss about nothing, the handbrake is fine, you have a fresh MOT and no advisories so the car is fine, relax.
  8. Judging by what's written on the tyre they're Bridgestone Turanza's and they've been killed by bad tracking.
  9. Because they go wrong a lot and are expensive new, also there are comparatively few Fabias in scrapyards.
  10. I think it's down the back of the engine near the starter motor, can't quite recall, they don't generally give any trouble though so you might be looking for a wiring fault.
  11. I think you've gotten hold of the wrong end of the stick, this forum is a great resource but when it comes to tuner bits this model is too old now to get any new stuff made, particularly in RHD which is a tiny little market, all the RHD stuff has run out and there won't be any more production runs. Modifying LHD parts for a safety critical, MOT testable application like the headlights purely for cosmetic reasons doesn't make any sense on any level.
  12. It's ok if the mechanic does what he's asked to do for a pre-agreed price which I pay him in cash. This is what I do for all works that need doing under the car.
  13. Not necessarily, the DPF itself may well be clogged, Halfords will clean it for £85 which is a very fair price.
  14. That's not an OE filter so it's already been changed and, no, it won't make any difference if you change it again. To be honest UK fuel is so clean compared to other parts of the world that it never needs doing on petrol cars.
  15. All this palaver for a smudge of lipstick, incredible, just a reminder that the Fabia Mk 1 is TWENTY TWO years old now and all this effort to make it look shiny and new is probably being wasted.
  16. Why did you put it back together without bothering to clean it first, it woulda taken 5 minutes to spray it with brake cleaner and wire brush the drum. The screw that you brutally overtightened for no reason does not hold the drum on, it only locates it while you refit the wheel and wheel bolts, it's there for convenience only.
  17. Don't worry about it, the drum is actually held in place by the wheel bolts so that screw is just to hold it in place while you fit the wheel. Edit: just use a flat bladed driver to get it out and don't bother tightening it so much next time.
  18. Ok, double confirmed, I'm surprised, like putting lazors on a milk float but at least you townies will be able to venture out of the streetlit suburbs without pressing your glistening faces against the windscreen.
  19. They really don't look bad, just clean everything up nicely and put it all back together properly. It's unusual for rear drums to be noisy unless there's debris inside.
  20. They look absolutely fine, what's the problem with them?
  21. Polish those headlight lenses, even t-cut and elbow grease will get them nice and clear again.
  22. Perhaps there's a fault code, maybe the fuel temperature sensor instead?
