  1. The throttle pedal, fix that wiring properly first though.
  2. I have no direct experience of that particular engine but most modern cars have the same access issues, you simply have to dismantle and remove other equipment in order to gain access or work from underneath the car.
  3. I suspect the pedal position sensor has malfunctioned, it's not that uncommon in a twenty year old car.
  4. I know but we're all out of ideas and it really isn't a major issue since you can turn the key and drive it, even my 2.0 does it sometimes, I just have to blip the throttle and it settles down, it's probably fuel condensing in the cold.
  5. Don't look under the bonnet in the dark then you won't worry about how hot the manicat gets.
  6. Sense of humour bypass?
  7. I'd rather use local, it's not rocket science after all.
  8. You're a braver man than me, I don't know anyone who's had a good experience with Mr Clutch but you might get lucky.
  9. I think you should just drive the bloody thing, a lumpy idle on the MPI is frankly normal. You're just chasing your tail now.
  10. Just replace the clock.
  11. You can fit the 11mm EGR reducer gasket which apparently improves matters.
  12. If it ain't broke...
  13. It controls the turbo vanes, it does this by bleeding air into the vacuum line which is the hiss you can hear.
  14. Earth problems seem more likely, join positive and negative battery terminals together then measure total resistance across the starter.
  15. The firm I worked for replaced quite a few castings warped beyond repair on PD's, mostly taxis, and found all the pattern Chinese castings to be excellent, in the case of the Land Rover TD5 head the Chinese pattern castings were hugely superior to the OEM castings which seemed to be made of Aero chocolate sprayed silver.
  16. Everyone is dancing around the issue so I'll tell you straight. You've cooked it properly and now it's ruined. However it was probably on its last legs anyway and you've just hastened its demise.
  17. Fifteen inch wheels with 195/50/15 are the best compromise between handling and comfort but it depends on the size of your front brakes, I have 288's and they completely fill the wheel, no way I could fit fourteens.
  18. The Yaris looks like my dream car but I'd get caught and banned and I really need my driving licence. My 2.0 Fabia flies under the radar but it's still indecently quick on the backroads.
  19. It is supposed to work that way, yes, perhaps the cabin thermostat is blocked, there's a little grille with a tiny fan behind it.
  20. Ok, the heater flap motor must be playing up.
  21. Does your engine take a while to warm up?
  22. Don't bother with LED bulbs unless you want to have an accident because you can't see where you're going, your insurance will be invalidated as well. Just not worth the trouble.
  23. Interesting, maybe you've got the first type after all.
  24. Yours is the second one held on by three bolts.
