  1. You could skip the tracking since everything is going back together the same way it came apart.
  2. Those 'rings' sound like shims which you use to get the chainline dead straight between the sprockets.
  3. Could you try and explain the fault better, I'm not really getting a clear sense of what's wrong with your car from your description.
  4. Impossible to remove the wings without damaging them due to the bonding sealer used at the hinge pillars. Better to use new pattern wings and dry fit them so they can be fettled then get it painted once complete.
  5. ECU doesn't care, it only looks at the voltage.
  6. It only matters if the vehicle has stop/start in which case it needs to be an AGM battery, if you've traded like for like then as rum4mo says you haven't changed chemistry and so recoding is not required.
  7. Go here: https://batteryuniversity.com/ Rather than performing obscure rituals you can learn about the actual chemistry very quickly and easily. If you pour fresh dilute sulphuric acid into a brand new but dry lead acid battery you will have 100% of the battery capacity available for use right away. I already told you this.
  8. It'll leak from the rack into the bellows.
  9. Modern sealed Lead acid batteries are filled and sealed at manufacture, they use calcium to prolong shelf life and reduce self-discharge. As soon as such a battery is filled it is immediately available for use and requires no charging beforehand, it is conceivable that a battery that has sat on the shelf for a long time would need a top-up charge but it's very unlikely. There is no accurate way to determine charge capacity of a lead acid battery but if it's new then it'll be VERY close to 100%. Close enough to fit and forget about.
  10. I think all those 1.2 R4 engines are 8V to increase torque off boost.
  11. Sounds like a 1.2 which has lost its cam timing from the faults and symptoms.
  12. That was three and a half years ago, the problem is not that I posted my response ten months ago, the problem is that people don't bother to READ what was already staring them in the face.
  13. By far the cheapest and quickest option is to sell yours and buy an automatic version.
  14. It's not gonna happen, they might get autopilot working for long motorway journeys but motorways are already the safest part of the road network so it'll only help where tiredness or poor visibility might be a factor.
  15. K Jet is a purely mechanical injection system built like a swiss watch so getting the fuel distributor alone reconditioned could be very expensive, all those tiny seals will have age-hardened and it'll be leaking like a sieve.
  16. It doesn't get much more pointless than audiophile in a car unless your car is stationary and silent.
  17. You've misunderstood the purpose of it, because these engines use port injection, the warm air is to help the fuel stay atomised in suspension rather than partially condensing on the cold metal surfaces and trickling into the cylinder as a liquid which doesn't burn and blows straight out of the exhaust. It's why port injection engines use more fuel on cold starts. The issue no longer exists on modern direct injection engines because the fuel isn't injected until the air in the cylinder is partly compressed and already very hot.
  18. Then you're stuck with scatter and a sick idle because there's no way to improve it without changing the cam profile and increasing fuelling at idle.
  19. Whoever told you that didn't understand the effect of cam scatter at idle when the chain's slapping about and the cam timing is randomly varying, all pushrod engines with simplex chains do it, it's why we used to fit duplex chains when doing performance upgrades.
  20. The shonky idle is caused by cam scatter, it's not worth worrying about, those engines are crude but bulletproof.
  21. No it can't trigger an ABS fault. Just make sure the tyres are all the same size all round.
  22. Check for air leaks in the brake servo vacuum pipe before doing anything else, the pipes can split letting unmetered air in and making an already rough idle worse.
  23. Forgive me if this sounds obvious, is there a possibility that one of the rear wheel and tyre combinations is a different size to the other?
