  1. I have a work tablet for work email access and other work stuff ..... Question is, is it normal / usual practice to not be able to access work emails on other devices ??? I can log into my work account on my private laptop at home but I cannot see my inbox ... Am I correct in assuming that to get access via my laptop I would have get the administrator (work) to add my device to the allowed list of devices ??? I ask as I may want to send one of the upper management a very wordy email and it would be sooooo much easier on my laptop rather than a tiny tidly iddy biddy crappy touch screen. Thank you for advice / info.
  2. @Warrior193 Probably try that next, just for peace of mind for winter ...... I think the battery is in good nick. I still like the idea of the solar charger but not sure my 12v socket (F40 1 series) remains live. And I was never actually sure to be honest, if it did anything, It just has a little green led on it, Lol..... I think it did tho.
  3. I use my old Samsung Galaxy A5 with an XD memory card in it. I like the fact that you can instantly view playback (not whilst driving, obv's) and just delete the recordings if (hoping) the journey was uneventful. And you can zoom in on registration plates too. Worked so much better than I thought it would in the dark also, with just street lighting and my (at the time) rather dismal Octavia's halogen headlights. Secured to the side of the sun-glass case above the rear view mirror. Secured to the passenger sun-visor mounting in my Bavarian motor. And anyone driving behind can probably see that you are recording. Passengers have been fine with where it is located.
  4. You might have got £15,000 from Motorway ????? I have heard good things about their service ... though this was some time ago. If you're happy then all is well and good.
  5. Maybe they do not have any to sell .......
  6. Purchased a Draper 53489 ......... £32 Awaiting delivery Prevention rather than a cure. It's resting voltage read 12.52 volts after circa 72 hours car sat on drive. (me, sat on bike, Lol) According to info found, probably Ai, this is above 90% charge and indicates that battery is still good after near 4 years ........ I'm assuming it is it's original battery. Thanks guys.
  7. Probably the same types that go, Oooh, when are you getting married then ..... just cos you've been together for what they deem to be too long to not get married. You may not have even thought of marriage ..... Or Oooh, when are you having children ...... just cos there's nothing going on in their own lives they put pressure on others to give themselves something to talk about ...... 'Peer Pressure' .......... I hate it
  8. Where, and who did you purchase it from ???? Skoda ??? Independent ??? Car supermarket ??? Online ??? Any warranty ??? (assuming not ???) Auto technician may be a good shout if your seller is not going / liable to help.
  9. Maybe see how it drives ...... I had mine from 2011 and ran it for 13 years ...... 1.9tdi DSG Elegance estate. (So ... 6 speed wet) No DSG service was carried out by myself (I have 'admitted' this before, as I know many will frown) ....... ...... But I had NO issues with the gearbox whatsoever, in the 13 years of abuse that I gave it. It was my workhorse vehicle. so iirc it had just the one DSG service in it's 150,000 mile life and 18 years of age. Aaah ...... 18 years old ...... seems a lifetime ago for me, Lol.
  10. Lol ......... I laugh, cos it sounds like me
  11. Get your battery checked would be my advice ....
  12. I thought that was what it was .... the DSG knob. I didn't look at the pedals .... but to me, the pedals look weirdly offset in the pic to be fair, but I think it is because it is such a close up and that the steering wheel isn't straight ...
  13. I think you would have to check the vehicle ... Yes, some 1.9 TDI engines had a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF), but it was not a universal fitment; DPF inclusion depended on the specific vehicle, its engine code (like the BLS), and the market it was built for, with later models and specific regions (like Europe) being more likely to feature them. You can confirm if your 1.9 TDI has a DPF by checking the vehicle's handbook, looking for manufacturer stickers in the driver's door or under the bonnet, or visually inspecting the area behind the turbo for a large, steel-canned DPF unit. but IF this info is correct DPF filters became mandatory for new diesel cars from 2009 in the UK to meet the Euro 5 emissions standards, though some models were fitted earlier to comply with these standards. While 2009 marked the widespread introduction, the technology itself and some early applications on passenger cars began even sooner, with Peugeot being a pioneer in this area. taken from Ai, then I suspect that it may have one.
  14. I ran a 2005 mk2 estate with the 1.9tdi BKC engine (believe this is the best reliable / less issues engine model ???) from 2011 to 2023. 150,000 miles when I traded it. I have admitted this before that I never serviced the DSG gearbox AND never had any issues with it either. 5 years old when I purchased it as a work horse. If you are fine with the agricultural like noisy element of this engine then it has to be a great choice. Cheap (well, nothing is cheap nowadays) and cheerful, happy .... and should be ... reliable motoring.
  15. Did you ask them what problem the software issue was causing, or likely to cause ??? I would have at least wanted to know what they thought was wrong with the car if it was running and all working fine.
  16. IMO telling them you have someone else interested could backfire ...... They could say to you, well, see how that goes and get back to us if you do not sell it ...... And then offer you a lower price. I would just let it play out. If they want it they will buy it. if you play games it may just pi55 them off. just my opinion though.
  17. I had 'Adaptive Xenon' headlights on my A4 ....... They were pretty good, but not a patch at lighting up the road ahead as the LED ones are on my current vehicle. Non matrix. I had an issue with my A4 headlight on one side due to the 'adaptive' part affecting the high beam solenoid. I managed to mend it myself but a new headlight would have been circa £1000. I hate to guess what these matrix replacements would cost, or even the non matrix ones should an issue arise, though I'm guessing no moving parts inside the headlight housing.
  18. Not that human beings cannot bugger everything up themselves ....... We now have tech and software and AI helping us to bugger everything up at a faster rate ....... All programmed by human beings of course, Lol.
  19. Obviously assuming this sorted the issue ........ Nice simple fix, well done. I can understand folk not wanting to mess with their vehicle, and they shouldn't have to either ....... ...... but sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and sort the 5h1t yourself, or get a mate to do it. Shame on Skoda not sorting these issues out.
  20. @skomaz I like mine purely for leaving the windows open a little and not having to worry if it rains. And that they cannot easily be seen that they are open a bit.
  21. Yep, noticed this on my 1 series too ....... Though I purchased the 'Edge Visor' branded ones, I have had to trim a part of the visor that sits into the window channel on the rears and could do with doing the same on the fronts. (I used an electric plane. ) Unfortunately I didn't try to fit them before I removed the cover on the tape as I got impatient, so atm they do not look proper professional on a close up inspection on the fronts, but they still look ok. I have NOT fitted the clips and have not had any issues with the deflectors so far though without the clips. I cannot remember if I used the clips or not with my Heko ones fitted to my Octy estate...

^^^ ha ha ha ......... nail on the head, probably @Ootohere
  23. @chrisgreen hit the nail on the head for my way of thinking ........ Keep it ......
  24. ^^^^ Agreeing ........ With my car, the advice was to read the manual before driving it for the first time. Have you seen the size of the blumin manual. Must be over a million words. I'd definitely be late for work, Lol. And how the heck am I supposed to remember even 1% of that information. I can remember how to start the engine but every time i try to alter the exterior lighting it tells me I can't, Lol. Some of the tech works well but there's too much 'tech stuff' for my liking but hey, others will disagree. I've only ever come across one car that stalled at the traffic lights and that was a VW Passat during a test drive many moons ago. Hasten to add for however much the seller tried to assure me that there was nothing wrong with the car and it hadn't done it before, I didn't buy it. @chelon Hope you get yours sorted.
