1.4 TSi oil usage and fuel consumption
Yes you can alter it with VCDS...I swapped mine from flexible (factory setting) to fixed...

Halfrauds strike again - can't even change a battery! I should know better!
096 is the biggest case size..there is no "upper limit" on Ah capacity. Yes you need to alter the settings..if its the exact same battery Ah, type just alter the serial number setting by one digit...if its different Ah or type then these settings also need altering All info in my previous posts, but I'll repeat:- This is from I how to guide I did on the MK7 Golf forum..same applies for any MQB platform car like the Mk3 Octavia.. How to retro-fit a bigger capacity battery to a Mk7 Golf | GOLFMK7 - VW GTI MKVII Forum / VW Golf R Forum / VW Golf MKVII Forum VCDS coding required From the Main screen:- Select Control Module [Select] [19-CAN Gateway] Advanced Functions screen:- [Adaptions-10] New value choice screen:- Change the following four channels, inputting the relevant data about the new battery. IDE03256-MAS06105-Battery adaptation-Rated battery capacity IDE03256-MAS06106-Battery adaptation-Battery technology IDE03256-MAS06107-Battery adaptation-Battery manufacturer IDE03256-MAS06108-Battery adaptation-Battery Serial Number When you click on "Battery technology" (using VCDS 21.3.0) a drop down list appears with the following options (= actual meaning):- Wet = Standard Lead Acid Fleece = Standard A.G.M. Wickel6V Wickel12V Ultracap Gel = Standard Gel Lead Acid Lithium ions = Standard LiFePO4 EFB = Standard E.F.B. Binary - AGM = "Bipolar" A.G.M. type EFB+ = E.F.B. "Plus" type Not_assigned_10 Not_assigned_11 Not_assigned_12 Not_assigned_13 Not_assigned_14 Unknown According to various sources of information, including numerous car scans & threads on Ross-Tech, "Fleece" is for standard AGM batteries, "EFB" is for standard EFB batteries, & "Wet" is for standard lead acid batteries, as these settings are used at the factory. The setting of "Binary - AGM" is apparently for specialist "Bipolar AGM" batteries! Also the drop down list is from VCDS & not generated by your car's BCM, therefore, your car may not support all the options on the list, & the BCM will reject the value when you tell it to accept it! Battery BEM codes are now redundant with the above separate channels. The most important channels are:- Rated battery capacity, Battery technology, & Battery Serial Number. For the Battery Serial Number, just change one digit of the old one. This channel tells the BCM that a new battery has been installed & to relearn the new battery & forget any “learnt values” for the old battery!

1.4 TSi oil usage and fuel consumption
ERWIN (official VAG workbooks) documentation from March 2021..although its for MK7 Golf its the same engine & will be the same across the brands... Basically they simplified it for our EA211 petrol engines.. 504 00 for variable time/mileage interval oil changes 502 00 for fixed time/mileage interval oil changes Use the above spec FIRST to select your oil NOT the "w rating". Then of the oils you have available chose the grade (part synthetic/fully synthetic) & "w" rating you prefer as the above VW spec will cover various "w" ratings from numerous brands/manufacturers.

the truth about electric cars
Re car aero & mainly the Cd value.... How many of you remember the Vauxhall Calibra??....One of the design features was incredibly low drag of 0.26 on the 2WD early models when it came out in June 1989.. Later cars with the bigger engines & 4x4 16V, V6, turbo models had a worse Cd of 0.29, due to changes in cooling system, underbody, use of spoked wheels & other minor changes. I mean the Tesla model S from 2012 was only 0.24Cd....!!... Automobile drag coefficient - Wikipedia

the truth about electric cars
ANY vehicle will benefit from proper aerodynamics..... In fact I started a big thread on it years ago when I started retro-fitting more undertrays to my car to give it better aero.. The funny thing is that most of the parts exist for the "eco" versions, & on the current Polo & MK8 Golf VW have coated the whole underside....I reckon they have been reading my threads as they are top in Google for the subject on the MK7 Golf.. Here's one of them, most info in the first 8 posts:- How to retro-fit skid trays, aerodynamic under trays, & stone guards to a MK7 Golf | GOLFMK7 - VW GTI MKVII Forum / VW Golf R Forum / VW Golf MKVII Forum Fitting the rear window fins which is another well known aero mod as it reduces turbulence around the rear screen sides How to retro-fit the rear window spoiler fins to a Mk7 Golf Estate/Variant/S.W. | GOLFMK7 - VW GTI MKVII Forum / VW Golf R Forum / VW Golf MKVII Forum Lower rear arm covers & the Mk8 aero covers:- How to retro-fit the Mk8 rear suspension aero covers or stone guards to a Mk7 Golf. | GOLFMK7 - VW GTI MKVII Forum / VW Golf R Forum / VW Golf MKVII Forum Tiguan subframe cover:- How to retro-fit the front subframe cover from the VW Tiguan (2016->) | GOLFMK7 - VW GTI MKVII Forum / VW Golf R Forum / VW Golf MKVII Forum Decreasing the frontal cross sectional area via lowering the car, reducing the width of the tyres, not fitting mudflaps that stick out beyond the tyre, reducing the wing mirror size ........ The other way is to smooth the underside air flow...so cover up all those cavities etc...ever seen the underside of a Tesla or Ferrari??...smooth & totally covered from bumper to bumper...

Halfrauds strike again - can't even change a battery! I should know better!
MQB platform cars were designed for stop/start & battery management Whether your country's importer spec'ed them that way is another matter..... BUT most of the European MQB cars got it from day one.. The July 2014 Skoda Octavia MK3 brochure list all cars from the basic 1.2lt "S" as having stop/start engine tech. Therefore BEM codes are N/A & have been superseded..by the four separate coding lines as I previously mentioned.
-
Halfrauds strike again - can't even change a battery! I should know better!
Don't need a BEM code on MQB platform cars...as there are separate coding lines for Ah, type, serial number & brand.. & a 096 AGM should work on any MK3 Octavia as the battery tray is the same & will take the biggest (096) & the two smaller batteries

the truth about electric cars
Plus the "raw materials used & the processing of the them to make the batteries is environmentally unfriendly".

the truth about electric cars
Doubt they ever will....... ...its too shocking!!!!..... TAXI....!!!...🤣

Halfrauds strike again - can't even change a battery! I should know better!
If the battery is exactly the same spec as before just alter ther "serial number" section by one digit. This is what tells the BCM to forget all the previous learnt values.... If its a different battery AH rating or construction then those need altering also.. I did a "how to guide" way back in 2015 when I swapped my factory EFB for a bigger AGM on my MQB Mk7 Golf..basically it shares most of the same electrics/mechanicals with the Mk3 Octavia....all info in the first post.. 1.4 TSi oil usage and fuel consumption
To add to the confusion.VAG info for the MQB 1.4lt engine is:- 508 00 or 504 00 spec for flexible service.. 502 00 for fixed service for fuel not compliant with EN288 Any of the above three specs for fixed service when using fuel compliant with EN288 (as we are in UK). There is a caveat from 2018 re the change in the oils.. I'd need to know the exact four digit engine code.. Personally speaking in my 2014yr 1.4lt CHPA I use Castrol Edge Titanium FST 0W40 A3/B4 (which is VW502 00 approved).

Fault code
Scrap that...............looks like yours is a one piece job...!! wing; wheel housing liner, plastic - Octavia(OCT) [EUROPA 2016 year] (7zap.com) Whereas the Mk7 Golf is two piece wing - Golf/Variant/4Motion(GOLF) [EUROPA 2016 year] (7zap.com)

Fault code
Having had all my undertrays off (yes I know I'm a Mk7 Golf, but its very similar)...If you undo the black screws & remove the lower internal front section of the UK passenger side front wheel arch you will get very good access to the pump & washer bottle...There will be some screws under the front corner edge of the bumper..

Transaction control system (TSC) and Control system for exhaust lights are on after changing tires
If they hit the tyre when the wheel was on the car they could have dislodged some dirt into the gap between the ABS sensor & the magnetic reluctor ring on the back of the hub....or they could have moved the hub unit which would alter the air gap.. Go for a drive & turn the steering wheel lock to lock & see if it goes??...if not it needs a scan as its either the ABS sensor wire, the sensor, or the ring which is part of the hub unit..

Diagnostic error message
I understand that VCDS readout no problems...😎.....infotainment unit has an intermittent fault, which has not occurred since last tested...
-
Diagnostic error message
The fact that the fault code reader states that the CAN gateway module was "inactive" I suspect that the ignition was switched off...or the CAN gateway module is faulty..
-
Diagnostic error message
No power to the main CAN gateway??....ignition switched off???

Cambelt Failure
7yrs is the design life of the cars these days...but I still wouldn't trust it.....
-
Cambelt Failure
The timing belts on the EA211 engines were designed to be "service life reliably spans the life of the entire vehicle!”. I've decided to stick to the old 5yrs interval for peace of mind...& that's probably why VWUK state it also..to stop expensive claims... The water pump on the EA211 was specifically moved to the other side of the engine & has its own belt..so if it shreds that it won't cause the main belt to shred..

Skoda Fabia Mk1 1.4 MPI 16V Exhaust
I had a Remus stainless backbox with a twin outlet (single side)....I did at one time have a racing 200cell cat (one under the gearstick)...but caused the ECU all sorts of problems which really required a custom stage2 remap on the Magneti Marelli ECU to sort out!

Fabia 4x4 project
There was a forum member (BossFox) on here who did a 4x4 conversion to a Citi-Go....which is only slightly smaller than a MK1 Fabia.. Darkside developments got the car eventually & fitted a diesel engine..

EFB or AGM?
This is what VAG say in their Self study guide on batteries:- Basically AGM are the best but heat kills them...so they need to be shielded from the engine heat.
