1.4 TSI Multiple Cylinder misfires despite replacing all 4 coil packs and spark plugs
I'd watch which spark plugs & which coil packs as there have been variations even just for the 140/150bhp engines..& one manufacturer later changed the spark plugs... I'd also log the signals/voltage going to the coil packs as the wiring is likely to suffer the same fate as the old 1.8T engine...heat degradation......which is why I removed the Tessa tape & re-wrapped in DEI gold foil... It could also be a bad earth point for the coil pack wiring..there is one on the cylinder head between a couple of the coil packs.

I'll have to dig out the ad I had prepared for Gumtree..I'll pm you tomorrow..... The only tape deck & record deck in the house are the old 1980's B&O....I'm usually CD, or FLAC on a USB stick...which is Denon equipment playing through a set of heavily modified Monitor Audio speakers...

Front differential to gearbox - oil leak :(
Servicing for these units (either front VAQ or rear Haldex) is not listed in the main schedules, its under the ambiguous title of "Country-specific additional work dependent on time & mileage".....& is stated as simply "Every three years".. You can remove the VAQ unit, get the correct driveshafts & code out the module..& then remove the existing open diff in the gearbox & fit a proper LSD (wavetrak)....& save weight, servicing & have more predictable handling... 2019 Superb 206 vs 2019 Golf R
One of the reasons I didn't get the "R" version of my car.....I tend to leave mine in remote places to go hill walking & cars have been known to be stolen..& yes I know much rarer than in the cities, but an "R" shouts almost as much a "Cossie" back in the day for "nick me".

Yep.......& no idea.... Also you have to factor in that raising the suspension height & changing the tyres for bigger diameter spec ones (even if to factory options for your car), alter the original spec of the car & thus the insurance value...so you should legally inform them also...

What alloy size are you running currently??..the Scout spec is 17inch alloys.. Remember that the Scout spec larger tyres are in conjunction with +15mm raised suspension option......so if you just fit the tyres you might get rubbing in certain conditions (load, steering lock etc).

Haha... TBH though my MK7 Golf estate is on factory -15mm sports suspension & I retro-fitted the reinforced skid tray from the "Rough Road package" which actually reduces the clearance under the engine bay area...so I now only have circa 110mm to 115mm at the lowest point which is actually near the wheel arch. I live in the north of Scotland & have driven my car down some interesting so called "roads"....& some of my friends have "driveways"...no...scub that.... tracks i.e. two tyre lanes & a grassy hump in the middle much like a Landrover track....& so far (touch wood) I've not scratched or scrapped the underside. If the OP is worried about his Octavia which appears to be on standard normal suspension, which is +15mm higher than mine, he should retro fit the correct factory option of "Raised Suspension +15mm & Rough Road package" for his car..this giving him an additional 30mm clearance compared to mine (+15mm more than he currently has) & a reinforced front skid tray! If he's really worried he should retrofit the Scout spec bigger diameter tyres, this giving a further 13mm increase in clearance. All nice & simple & still within the MQB platform design specs & options for his MKIII Octavia. P.S. if that's still not enough the OP should be looking at a Landy or similar with "Portal hubs".....

I never thought somebody would compare a Golf & a Superb....the Golf's interior (especially the rear seat space & boot space) is way smaller than the Superb....the cars are in two completely different class/size categories....regardless if they have both been fitted with the same or similar powertrain...

MKIII Octavia estate O/A height stated as Standard without roof rails = 1465mm Scout with roof rails = 1531mm Height of loading sill at kerb weight:- Standard = 631mm Scout = 667mm the above adding up to the +15mm suspension & +13mm from tyre increase & angle of car.. Your countries importer (as other countries do) might spec the "raised suspension +15mm" factory option as default for all the MKIII Octavia's. Therefore a nominal 155mm clearance.

Depending on final weight kerb weight of car (gearbox, trim, engine, etc.) MQB platform Scout springs will NOT raise the car on "Normal suspension" more than the "nominal" 15mm as I previously stated. The “Raised Suspension” as fitted to the MKIII Octavia Scout is also part of the “Rough Road Package” & only increases the ride height by a nominal 15mm. The MKIII Octavia Scout gains an additional nominal 13mm ride height by being fitted with larger diameter tyres compared to the “Normal” spec Octavia’s. Detailed explanation below:- Skoda in their UK 2015 brochure for the MKIII Octavia, state ground clearance for the Estate at "kerb weight" of:- 171mm for Scout, 140mm for Normal, 125mm for Sports, 139mm for 4x4 (non-Scout), 127mm for vRS, The factory fitted optional extra of "Rough Road Package" raises the ride height by a nominal 15mm & is stated as being factory fit to the Scout & an optional extra only on certain listed cars with "Normal" suspension (S, SE, SE-L), therefore a clearance of 155mm at kerb weight. Conversely, the factory optional extra of "Sports suspension" lowers the ride height by a nominal 15mm & is stated as being factory fit to the vRS & an optional extra only on certain listed cars with "Normal" suspension (SE-L & L&K in this case & not 4x4), therefore a clearance of 125mm at kerb weight. However, one has to take into account the factory fit wheels when the above ground clearances were measured. The factory fitted wheels are as follows:- 205/55R16 = S, SE, SE-L 225/45R17 = SE-L optional extra 225/50R17 = Scout 225/40R18 = L&K, vRS, & SE optional extra The "standard" diameter of the above tyres are as follows:- 205/55R16 = 632mm 225/45R17 = 635mm 225/50R17 = 658mm 225/40R18 = 638mm Therefore, we can conclude that the Scout’s 31mm increase in ride height is gained as follows according to the Skoda brochure:- A nominal 15mm from Rough Road Package suspension A nominal 13mm from larger diameter/taller tyres Totalling 28mm, leaving 3mm as unaccounted for, but most likely variations in gearbox/trim final kerb weight, & tyre brand/tread depth variations. Please remember that the Scout, 4x4, vRS & L&K models have the multi-link rear suspension...the others all have the Torsion beam rear suspension. Also remember that you CANNOT increase the spring height (distance between body & wheel hub) too much otherwise you have problems with the C.V. joints on the drive axles as the engine, subframes, gearbox, bevel box, etc. are fixed to the body, & therefore the angles from them (gearbox, rear bevel box) to the wheel hubs become steeper. Here is a screenshot from the ERWIN self-study guide on the MQB platform Golf, which is what the MKIII Octavia is.

I was looking at the VW info for the MK7 Golf "raised" suspension (also listed as the Rough Road Package, 15mm ride increase, in the Skoda brochure). Anyway the MK3 Octavia Scout is stated (in the 2015 brochure) as having 31mm more clearance than the "normal" Octavia suspension at kerb weight. However, please remember that the Scout gets taller tyres with a bigger overall rolling radius....at 225/50R17...where as the normal cars get 205/50R16, 225/45R17, or 225/40R18...this making up some of the stated 31mm difference...

Scout will get you circa 15mm higher than normal... Even the Forge lift kit for MQB won't get you that height gain as only 36mm. & that begs the question:- "how many years is "the entire life of the vehicle""??? I think you'll end up finding that the nearest answer you'll get from the manufacture is 7yrs max....as that's the designed lifespan on average & has been for a number of years...

Interesting advice on cambelt change
I have the tech file on the new EA211 belts...supposed to last a "lifetime"...& this is why its not in the service schedule for these engines... UNLESS:- Your country is classed as having "High levels of dust" according to VAG worldwide service schedules....then its renew every 120,000km or 80,000miles. You could accuse VAG UK dealers of ignoring this & using the old service intervals of 5yrs/60,000miles in some of their confusing info.. I got mine replaced on the "old" intervals, as there has been the odd rare case of the new belts failing already!.. To supply & fit a new belt is cheaper than a new engine..& I hope to keep this car for a total of 14yrs...

I have the October 2015 Skoda Uk pricelist/brochure & the costs are as follows for a vRS Metallic and pearl effect colours £360 CANTON sound system £500 Acoustic front and rear parking sensors £350 Rear-view parking camera £300 Temporary space saver spare wheel (for 17" or 18" wheels) £100 Black design package "plus". Includes black design package, 19inch Xtreme alloys, sunset glass, colour Maxi-dot trip computer. £750 for a hatch, £800 for the estate Cornering front fog lamps £105 Most of the other stuff appears to be standard fit. But your car is a 2018 & this list is October 2015, but hopefully it gives you an idea.

Can you visibly spot the VAQ diff with car on the ground?
Its on the UK drivers side of the gearbox..so the driveshaft should appear shorter than one without the VAQ unit....basically another ad-on box between the gearbox case & driveshaft flange on the drivers side..

Battery AH capacity
The battery choice at factory for all MQB platform cars :- For cars WITH "Start/Stop” eco engine shut off (BlueMotion II):- 59Ah/320A (DIN), H5 size, EFB type 69Ah/360A (DIN), H6 size, EFB type 68Ah/380A (DIN), H6 size, AGM type If its got an AGM battery fitted it needs a charger that has a setting for AGM.... Skoda Fabia MK4 Estate cancelled ?
Small estates are being wiped out.... MKI & MKIII Fabia were good designs.... I bought my MKI Fabia Hatch in Jan/Feb 2001...hardly any estates in the country...then I saw one at the dealers two months later & almost swapped my new hatch! Almost bought a MKI Octavia estate at the time..just to big for 80% of my driving.. I almost bought an AWD Yeti when we had the first bad UK winter in 2009/2010...until I realised the advantages of proper winter tyres!! Saved up for a replacement car (when mine got over 12yrs old)...which was then going to be a Roomster Scout with all the options (expect pano roof which causes problems) Then there was supposed to be a replacement for the Roomster in 2015, basically a rebadged VW Caddy SWB Highlife...(& that still hasn't happened) Then with the MKIII Fabia I knew there was going to be an estate..but no mention of the 140/150PS engines...(vRS spec) which is what I wanted. (& still hasn't happened). Had a look at the MkIII Octavia estate..too long for what I needed & torsion beam rear suspension unless I got VRS or L&K spec...(the car is longer than the Mk7 Golf estate which gets multilink rear in more lower powered engines). Looked at the Golf SV, more expensive to insure, worse mpg/aero as bigger frontal cross sectional area, than the MK7 Golf estate. Ended up with a MK7 Golf estate...multi-link rear with 140PS petrol..nice light weight nose, good handling & power/weight, 4inches shorter than the Octavia, (2inches in the wheelbase), cheaper to insure & good mpg.... (My Mk7 Golf GT estate was insurance group 15E, the same hatch was 17E, & the MkIII Octavia estate L&K was 19E, can't find the info on the Golf SV) The new MK8 Golf estate is even longer than mine as its not based 100% on the MK8 hatch as it has a longer wheelbase & is more a reskin/rebadge of the MK4 Octavia!..

Have you tried setting the parameters in "individual" mode to the "Eco" settings? Usually "individual" mode keeps active for the next time you turn the ignition on.

Varta Battery change
The BCM needs to have one digit of the "serial number" coding line altered to tell the BCM that a new battery has been fitted & to forget all the old learnt values. If the battery is a different Ah or construction it also needs the respective coding lines in the BCM altered also.. "Plus" type Not_assigned_10 Not_assigned_11 Not_assigned_12 Not_assigned_13 Not_assigned_14 Unknown According to various sources of information, including numerous car scans & threads on Ross-Tech, "Fleece" is for standard AGM batteries, "EFB" is for standard EFB batteries, & "Wet" is for standard lead acid batteries, as these settings are used at the factory. The setting of "Binary - AGM" is apparently for specialist "Bipolar AGM" batteries! Also the drop down list is from VCDS & not generated by your car's BCM, therefore, your car may not support all the options on the list, & the BCM will reject the value when you tell it to accept it! Battery BEM codes are now redundant with the above separate channels. The most important channels are:- Rated battery capacity, Battery technology, & Battery Serial Number. For the Battery Serial Number, just change one digit of the old one. This channel tells the BCM that a new battery has been installed & to relearn the new battery & forget any “learnt values” for the old battery!
