Battery replacement advice?
For reference you need to tell the BCM the AH of the battery, the battery construction, & also force the BCM to forget the previous learnt values by changing at least one digit of the serial number. I wrote a thread back in early 2015 on retro fitting a bigger battery to an MQB platform car....all info in the first post here:- How to retro-fit a bigger capacity battery to a Mk7 Golf | GOLFMK7 - VW GTI MKVII Forum / VW Golf R Forum / VW Golf MKVII Forum

Changing the differential??
As has been quoted from the above MK7 Golf post...Basically open up the existing gearbox/diff casing...remove existing "open" diff...drop in a Wavetrac or Quaife LSD, reassemble gearbox/diff casing. Plenty of people doing this on Mk7 Golf GTI (with or without VAQ) & even the "R" (& some doing both open diffs on the AWD Haldex system).

Tyre wear and wheel spin
The EA211, 1.5lt engines have maximum torque available of either 200Nm from 1,400rpm or 250Nm from 1,500rpm That will spin the tyres !!... Having a set of wider 225mm (225/45R17) tyres helps mitigate it.....but you still get it on steep uphill junctions when you need to get away quickly!..

A Fabia with a GT Bumper
The advantage of the 1.4lt 100BHP is its a high revving nat asp buzz box.....& with 45kgs less nose weight the handling on twisty roads if far better! I used to drive mine through the gears using the full rev range...limiter didn't kick until 7,200rpm...red line started at 6,200rpm......& mine got there so fast & would headbutt the limiter if I wasn't quick!.. My AUB made circa 120-125BHP after the mods...If I'd have bought the ABT kit it would have had 140BHP... I suppose I just hate heavy nose weights & what I would call "leaden" diesel like engine responses....🤷♂️ Mind you I drive my cars "rally" style...especially given the roads local to me....😎

A Fabia with a GT Bumper
Doubt it against mine....even the head mechanic/tech at the Skoda garage (who I knew) said was faster than any other (non vrs) Fabia MkI that he had driven & that included the 2lt....but mine was modded!.. Also I had nothing go wrong with my 1.4lt AUB drivetrain in 14yrs of ownership....😛

A Fabia with a GT Bumper
The Elegance was the top spec at launch (& when I got mine in Jan 2001) before the vRS came out..which was later... I decided against the 2lt as it was 115BHP & 125lbft & 0-62mph in 9.9secs & 36.2mpg combined -vs- the 1.4lt 16V 100BHP & 92lbft & 0-62mph in 11.5secs & 39.8mpg combined The 2lt was also heavier by 45kgs (all in the nose weight) & polluted by 17g/km more CO2 than the 1.4lt. manual (75bhp 1.4lt auto polluted the same as the 2lt) If I remember it was the old 8v from the Mk3 Golf Cabriolet.. My Fabia after some mods was defo faster than the stated brochure specs anyway..

What does this switch/button do?
I found the old sale ad on here which lists the spec & still has the photos (you have to click to view them)

What does this switch/button do?
I even retro fitted the fold out cup holder from the left side blanking panel next to the radio! If I'd have had EKTA back then I would have fitted either the skid tray or at least the full engine aero cover (sold as diesel noise insulation), & the "rough road" plastic protectors for the underside of the rear axle "arms"...& also a fire extinguisher bracket to the front seat (remove the drawer)..

FWD LSD or 4WD? Which is better?
If you want a real spanner in the works what is fitted by VAG (heavily modified Haldex unit) to the sporty front wheel drive cars (like the Mk7 GTI PP) is not a LSD...never has been & even the makers & VAG tech dept don't call it that..only the marketing lot called it a LSD which is highly misleading as the term LSD correctly refers to a completely different & solely mechanical item...to which the "VAQ" unit is not. Many people who track or enjoy spirited driving with their Haldex based AWD MK7 Golf "R" have replaced both the open diffs for proper LSDs & the car grips even better, exits corners faster, etc. as the it relies less on the electronics..

Skoda sd card not enough room
As has been suggested, download & you should be able to remove some of the countries you don't need...or make the cluster size smaller when you reformat the card..

What does this switch/button do?
My late 2000 built MkI Fabia Elegance did not have a lockable glove box...(I don't think they ever did) But it did have amongst other things:- heated front seats both front seats height adjustable only the drivers seat electric windows front & rear (rear ones were removed from later models) Hatch & petrol flap remote releases (by drivers seat) Door window carrier bolts (not rivets as fitted to later models)

A Fabia with a GT Bumper
I had stated 1hr beforehand that I was wrong as the 2000yr brochures did NOT state that it came with them & that the possible reason that I thought they did is that there was a 2lt Elegance on the dealership lot in Jan 2001 (when I was ordering my car) & it had them fitted...as I said must have been a dealer spec'd "show car".
-
A Fabia with a GT Bumper
Just had a look through all the 2000yr catalogues then I bought the car..you are right no mention stating these items are "standard fit to 2lt"...I could have sworn that the 2lt Elegance got them..I did see one at the dealers with it when I got my car. It could have been a fully spec'd one (dealer fit)...& not standard fit?..!!!
-
A Fabia with a GT Bumper
Its just an optional dealer fit overlay cover...I had looked at getting one fitted to mine back in Jan 2001 when I bought my MkI Elegance.. It was a whole kit of covers for the front & rear bumpers, roof spoiler extension & wheel arch extensions. The 2lt (8V) Elegance got it as standard..

Battery issues… (Resolved)
Things move on..much like I stopped using copper grease for the brake calipers to pads & the slide pins...now only those two greases I mentioned in the other thread (Loctite & TRW)

Battery issues… (Resolved)
I don't use anything on mine except electrical contact cleaner...sprayed onto a cloth first & wiped around the terminal & the clamp...I don't use any white grease either...especially since I have both plastic terminal covers & then the felt type cover with lid/flap. 25yrs ago I did use white lithium grease, then realised that dirt stuck to it which is rubbish if you have to remove the clamp & refit & get the crud in the clamp...so just used WD40...that gets rid of water/dirt....now for the past 10yrs+ I use electrical contact cleaner...the right tools for the job..

The rough road package was usually just a metal (on older cars) & now a GRP/aramid/Kevlar/reinforced full engine bay undertray/skidtray...& rubber covers for the lower rear suspension arms..It might also include a cover tray for the front section of the exhaust tunnel. On some previous VAG cars it was also reinforced brake hoses on the rear axle.

H6 is the Euro name for 096.....& yes the biggest 096/H6 case size can be fitted at factory to certain high output cars with loads of electrical load... FYI. Bolt torque settings from VAG:- clamping plate bolt = 15Nm (11lbft) battery terminal clamp nuts = 6Nm (4.4lbft). I just do the battery terminal up until the "gap" is just closed at one end.. Mk3 VRS TDI DSG Estate - 3rd set of brake discs warped
Actually they might need to be modified for full clearance of the caliper at full lock in certain suspension loads..they were made for the Audi's which have bigger calipers which are further away from the hub centre. 3 .5yrs ago I did the original write up/how to guide here:- How to retro-fit the front brake air guides from the Audi RS3 (2017->) | GOLFMK7 - VW GTI MKVII Forum / VW Golf R Forum / VW Golf MKVII Forum To the OP I reckon you are suffering from a sticking caliper.....not the piston in the caliper housing, but of the pad ears sticking in the guides & the guide pins (in the rubber boots) between the caliper & the carrier sticking also. You need to strip the caliper of the carrier, (via guide pin bolts), remove the pads, clean up all mating faces & the guides where the pad ears are..then re-grease with Loctite LB8009 (heavy duty) or VAG "hot bolt paste" all the pad back to caliper & pad ear to guide faces..& then remove the guide pins/boots, clean & re-grease the pins..TRW make a specific grease for their calliper guide pins called PFG-110. I had loads of problems before & wrote off a set of discs/pads......now I don't! So info in my posts on this page.. anyone play music from a USB stick?
Mine doesn't do FLAC..even if it did I would still not use FLAC in the car..can't hear the difference in 320kbps -vs- FLAC in the car even with the Dynaudio...well its not the best environment to do so anyway! Also by using fixed 320kbps MP3 the files take up way less space than full FLAC so can fit more on the SD card..
