  1. No really, stop. And spend the money on some track days instead so you can improve the most important component of the car's handling - the driver (however good you already are).
  2. Think it's just as good looking as a Mini Coupe (what is it good for?).
  3. Superb Elegance ex demo on a PCP with maintenance contract and extended warranty.
  4. I'm biased (see sig). Or maybe I'm not so biased, having had heaps of these kind of cars (inc VWs, SEATs, Audis, Skodas, Mondeos, Mercs) either by owning them or as company cars, the Superb keeps coming out on top. Buy a 12 month old or ex-demo one at right money on a PCP with an extended warranty and maybe a service plan. Sell it privately when the extended warranty has 6 months left. Repeat as often as necessary.
  5. As pretty as an X6. Or a Ssanyong Ugly.
  6. As your roof has eaves, how about blocking off that badly desgined thing on the ridge and putting a fan in the roofspace, exhauting downwards through the eaves? Run the fan from a solar panel and it'll vent more heat in summer when you want to get rid of it and less in winter when you want to retain it as insulation.
  7. Totally agree with the human factor. Reckon the touch judge could have been in a better position though, instead of standing still for the last few crucial seconds. Also agree that England (and others) are just as guilty with conceding cynical penalties to evade scores, which ruins the game for spectators and potentially creates incorrect results where cheating is more effective than being the better side. So how about if the ball stays in the last 10 metres and two penalties are awarded against the defending side the ref must warn that the next penalty will become a penalty try with no discretion for the ref and no exceptions? It would be fair for all sides and would also take the final decision away from the ref while allowing a fairer game to be played. While we're at it, to make someone being binned a proper punishment, how about a 2 second maximum for using the ball once it's out the back of a ruck to avoid sides standing over the ball for ages to run the clock down when they've had someone binned?
  8. Is it really that easy to leave the engine running?
  9. Or do the other common thing whereby there's one designated test-taker who takes the test on behalf of other people who look similar to him? I've been unlucky enough to have been driven by a person who acquired "his" "licence" this way. He was working for me as a car salesman. After the first 30 seconds I got him to stop the car, then drove him back to the dealership to investigate why he was so unsafe. He admitted that one person in his circle of friends did everyone's tests. Needless to say he lost his job and rather than face criminal charges himself he chose to name the test-taker, who was prosecuted by the police (and virtually let off by the magistrates). Can you believe the salesman told me and the rest of his community that I was in the wrong and should have paid for him to have driving lessons, and when I banned him from the premises, expected me to pay his notice period and holiday pay?
  10. Touch judge anticipation fail. More importantly, how many deliberate penalties should a defending side be allowed to concede within 10 metres of the try line before the ref must award a penalty try?
  11. So you've used a set of rear pads in 18 months?
  12. 1.9 quieter and smoother than the 2.0PD. The 2.0CR feels like the best of both worlds.
  13. Confused and driving are not words that should be in the same sentence.
  14. My guess would be that there was a conversation with the control room about the possibility of a concealed weapon (given that he's driven off, suggesting that he has something to hide, and has dark tints, further suggesting he had something to hide, and has number plates that can't be auto-read, suggesting that he doesn't want his movements to be tracked). Perhaps it's standard procedure in all these circumstances not to make a single officer a sitting duck and that two or more should attempt entry to distract and disorientate the occupant(s)? If I remember correctly, a Range Rover will have anti-terrorist locking once driven over 10 mph, which only unlocks with an interior door handle and the ignition off? As for compo, he needs to pay the taxpayer for wasting police time, not have the taxpayer give him a donation for being an idiot.
  15. The world does indeed revolve on profit. Most customers decide whether the item is worth it to them, rather than deciding (or caring) whether the dealership is using the best way to cover its costs. Someone who polishes their car every weekend shouldn't buy paint protection. Someone who prefers to spend time using their car and just washes it once a month might make a different judgment, and depending on whether the dealer is switched on, might well get a better PX value down the line. For what it's worth, overall, a well run car dealership will make pre-tax profit of 3-5% on turnover. A badly run one will make a 3-5% loss. Unless it sells "MGs", when it might easily make a 10,000% loss. Clothes and furniture stores usually add 100% mark up and then add the VAT. Would you like to guess how much mark up you pay at Maccas?
