Go and see a Physio and take the car. SWMBO is a Physio and gets tons of people moaning about their seats. Generally, the position of the seat can be improved or you can buy extra lumbar devices.

Classic car or modern classic? Early golf, MR2, Scimitar?

ECO Mode - TDI (Golf GTD - Mk3 Octavia vRS)
dobbey replied to Rob-vrs21's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
I would. If it does feel slow, why not go for the petrol? The economy figures aren't actually that different. I'm looking at both and thinking I'll go for the petrol. I don't do mega miles so it makes sense -
ECO Mode - TDI (Golf GTD - Mk3 Octavia vRS)

Eco mode will certainly not lower the power, it will only slow the throttle response. That can make the car feel less powerful though -
Go to a local trimmer? They'd charge £100 max for a good job and leather that matches

Very good and cheap. He'll do anything you want http://www.speedys-signs.com/ Tell him Oaksey sent you

My new car has arrived at the dealers, but...
dobbey replied to Didescharlie's topic in Škoda Citigo
I don't think you are thinking of the same clip. I think Didescharlie is talking about the one on the dash, not windscreen/A pillar -
You're going to insure it at some point, so you may as well do it a few days earlier, before you go France. Problem solved...

You can reset the DSGs memory with it. Don't know if it does anything else

An induction kit helps more air get to the combustion chamber quicker. The more air that goes through, the more fuel the ECU decides to chuck in and more fuel+air= bigger bangs. Sports exhausts help the gases created by combustion get out quicker than a standard exhaust. If the gasses were slow moving through the exhaust, the engine can't run as efficiently and as powerfully because some are still in the cylinder, meaning less oxygen gets in, meaning smaller bang. Hope that makes sense

BBC Your Money- Their Tricks 'sting' on Kwik Fit. (About time)
dobbey replied to grr666's topic in General Automotive Chat
I NEVER go to these companies anyway. If I need tyres fitting, I'll go to the indie. I'd rather give them my trade than a national company. If its any other work, I do it myself -
That little a offset change is hardly anything http://www.willtheyfit.com/index.php?width=185&aspect=50&diameter=16&wheelwidth=6&offset=43&width2=185&aspect2=60&diameter2=14&wheelwidth2=6&offset2=38&Submit=Submit And of course, you'll have to tell your insurance to allow them to charge you more :(

Guinness Record Attempt "Largest Parade of Skoda vehicles"

Some good silicone sealant. Its held number plates on my cars forever, as well as holding interior mirrors to glass and repairing window seals

It seems people are forgetting the Superb V6, which will leave behind any standard VRS (as it did last night, infact ) It also has better suspension than standard superbs and the largest brakes on any RG Skoda (and of course, 4x4) and it goes round corners well. I'm going to compete in a hillclimb in it sometime Also, when the new VRS comes out, I'll be in the market for one. I'll look at the FL superb (170 CR) and the VRS

Advice on compounds and pads, please
dobbey replied to Devon Wanderer's topic in Styling and Car Care
G3 is good stuff, mainly used for freshly sprayed paint to for faded paint, as it's quite coarse. I'm afraid I don't know any of the other things (I know basically nothing on polishing ) -
And apologies for the topic going off topic

1) Don't tell us what our cars are like when you don't own one yourself. An Omega is not a Superb. 2) Don't tell us we're just going off the MFD stats and not real life. If anyone is being blinded by stats, its you. Driving in town is different to "urban cycle." 3) Please feel free to add to the discussion, just don't call other members liars or stupid

My 17,000 mile V6 is driven just in town, with one longer run every month. It averages 27.7mpg and does 32 on a run. If we are stating totally irrelevant figures, my 2.6l Scimitar will do 20mpg however its driven

Will Skoda ever release this...........
dobbey replied to Auric Goldfinger's topic in General Automotive Chat
No. -
As well as (or even instead) getting protection for the wheels, whack in some green stuff pads. They produce far less brake dust than standard pads so it takes a lot less time to clean wheels (trust me, I have wire wheels to keep clean )

Heat still transfers through paint. Radiators are the same idea and they've been painted since they were first used in cars. I've used painted intercoolers with an air temp differance of 0.2 degrees compared to bare metal. Also remember, if painted a dark colour, it will emit heat better, giving an even better effect on the air temp
