  1. Make of tires, and how many miles on them?
  2. Love the Virtual Cockpit. The big map screen is awesome, the big screen for the overview and then you can use the cockpit map display a bit more zoomed in to see detailed turns etc. Also when the passenger is using the big screen (changing the music or doing routing on the map) you still retain your map screen in front of you. Apart from the map, the biggest plus for me is the night mode. Being able to shut down almost everything is great, coupled with the "screen off after 10 seconds" option on the big screen the cabin becomes very dark for long motorway drives at night. I waited to upgrade from my Superb 2 specifically untill the Superb 3 got the Virtual Cockpit. Even came close to pulling the trigger on a Karoq (which got the Virtual Cockpit sooner here in Belgium) but I held out because I need the boot space of the Superb.
  3. Front Assist does not need ACC active. First it will show a small icon in the dash to show you are following too close (2 cars separated by a warning triangle). If you continue to approach a car too fast it will show a large red warning, then a loud beep, and eventually it will apply the brakes. To activate Front Assist you need to enable it in driver aids, ASR needs to be active, and you need to move at more then 5km/h.
  4. I only make sure the ignition is switched off personally.
  5. I would try contacting him, you never know if he can find one of those you want. Definately would never recommend using cars-equipment again after my last experiences with them, see my reply a few posts up. Yeah I know what you mean by the behaviour 1=>2 when coming to a stop. I don't mind using the brakes at the very end when I'm stopping, it's mostly to use the engine braking a little bit to try saving the brakes. I also tried the S mode "quick-pull" on the stick, but S-mode doesn't quite suit my driving...I try to be as relaxed as possible.
  6. So. I got my new steering wheel (with paddles) from THIS excellent seller on Ebay. Very good packaging, fast delivery, and the price was fair. Fitting it into my car was easy enough, simply the same procedure as VAG has used for the past 100 years. Turn steering wheel 90°, unclip the clip at the back (I use a small flat screwdriver and a small mirror to see). This releases the airbag at one end. Turn the steering wheel 180°, unclip the other one. Airbag pops right out. Unplug the yellow clip (this cuts all electrical current so the airbag is rendered "safe", as far as it can ever be safe). Unclip the lead that goes towards the multi function buttons. Use the M12 splime bit to remove the center bolt, remove old steering wheel. Done. Installing one is the same procedure in reverse, the only difference is you just push the airbag into it's 2 clips. This requires quite a push, so you'll end up honking the horn, scaring yourself sh*tless. Job done! Paddles work straight out of the box on mine, no coding needed. I had to install new buttons on my new steering wheel with paddles, I need the "view" button for Virtual Cockpit, so I bought that separately and fitted those into the new steering wheel. Also a 5 minute job. Got to play around a bit with the paddles this morning on my way to work, and I'm happy! With my manual cars I always try to use engine braking as much as possible, and that's the only thing I really miss in my new DSG car. Now at least I can shift down a few cogs when I'm coasting up to a roundabout, so there's that.
  7. My Superb II had 225.000km's and only the drivers seat side bolster showed wear like on your photo. The general school of thought is, it's no use applying products after the cracks or creases are present. It's already too late. Basically you need to start applying products as soon as you can to keep the leather supple. Hard, dried out leather can crack and wear. Supple treated leather will move back to it's original position not allowing creases to become permanent. Once a month all seats get a wipedown with Dr Leather leatherwipes, about once or twice a year I use a dedicated cleaner and a soft bristle brush. Spray on, agitate the dirt, wipedown with MF cloth. Then use leather sealant spray to protect the seats.
  8. Works a treat! Sattelite view is indeed a bit distracting. I also worry a bit about cellular data usage when using this view. Anybody know anything about that?
  9. From what I've been able to learn you need the following; 1. Heated steering wheel (obviously) 2. Airbag for heated wheel is different. Unsure if it's a completely new unit or if the airbag is the same but the COVER is different, but I know there's an issue there. So maybe a new airbag. 3. New wiring between wheel, airbag and clockspring. 4. New steering clock spring that has extra plug for heated steering wiring 5. Climatronic with plug for a wiring harnass between BCU and the climatronic. So new panel. 6. Loom from climatronic to BCU. 7. Coding. There's a thread on vwvortex about retrofitting it into a Golf VII, they got it to work (using an EXTRA clockspring just hidden away ) and just coding it so it turns on automatically with the heated seats. Another person sais he will update the details on the wiring loom, but no details yet. Likely it will be something like "connect pin 23 on the BCU to pin 6 on the plug B to.......". Now, I can live with forking out cash for parts (you can buy a new steering wheel, climatronic panel, clockspring etc), but the wiring loom between BCU and climatronic is not available so would have to be built from scratch. That is where I draw the line, so no go for me!
  10. No problem. Just today I got the results from PostNL (I used them to ship the steering wheel return from Belgium to cars-equipment). I opened an inquiry with them aswell with the Credit Card company. They send me a printout of the reciept, the owner himself signed for reception of my return item.
  11. Then you got lucky. I ordered that exact steering wheel from cars-equipment. When it arrived it had a big cut in the leather. The packaging was ok, so it obviously was damaged before. Their return policy they show off with on their website sounds very good, (if not installed you can get a refund after contacting them and shipping it back). So I let them know that I wanted to ship it back. No dice, I had to claim it with the delivery service. Yeah good luck with that, the second you accept a package at the door you lose all rights to claiming damages. The damage was so bad I could not sell it myself, nobody would buy it. It took 10 emails back-and-forth untill I got "fine ship it back to this adress then we will refund you the money" So I paid for Insured tracking back to them. It shows the package arrived at this address in January. They next working day it was "back in stock". So they obviously got it. Since then no refund and no more responses to any emails. I had to claim it on my creditcard to get a refund. The cost of the insured tracking I had to eat, obviously. Absolutely blows my mind a shop will act like this, I've ordered from them several times, and not small amounts either. They won't lose any sleep over it, but cars-equipment won't get another dime from me that's for sure...
  12. Not me mate. That's all your own doing. I didn't have any trouble, your entire page of content is just an endless boring postcount inflating rerun of the same negative drivel. I did my research before I bought and I'm going in with both eyes open. I don't have an entitled opinion that simply because I put down a dollar it becomes my God given right to never be disappointed. I understand sometimes life happens, sometimes you get lucky and sometimes you don't. Seriously, you sound like the kind of person who stands around on streetcorners wearing signs and shouting 'REPENT! THE END IS NIGH!'. Now, you may have a point. The problem is, if you keep on shouting the same over and over and over everybody ends up ignoring you. Which is what I'm going to be doing from now on.
  13. You can be as flippant as you want, if you are not going to give relevant information why bother replying? You honestly think correcting someone's preferred way of expressing horse power is relevant in a discussion about the reliability of a gearbox? Nevermind, just took a gander at your post history. Especially your created topics. Seems you have been dealt a very poor hand indeed... Skoda bites me again One week to go and still nothing issue needed repairs replacement (again) beware blunder yet another issue initial impressions-disappointed My friend, a Skoda could walk over and plant a big fat kiss right on your face and you would complain you didn't like the colour of her eyes...time to move on to another carbrand, I'm sure your experiences will improve drastically.
  14. How about giving some actual info instead of guessing and implying things? Early DQ200's suffered from a known problem. They were a 'sealed-for-life' unit containing synthetic oil, which contained sulphur. Now, when the car is driven in stop-go traffic, and if you add hot and humid conditions to that, electrolysis happens, and the sulphur gets deposited in the form of conductive particles along the oil. The computer now detects this as a short circuit, and cuts off the clutch, which is why you don’t get the “Drive” mode when your DSG fails. There was a massive recall switching to mineral oil (November 2013), and all newer boxes have mineral oil. This recall (1.700.000 DSG units!!!) forever tainted the DQ200 transmission. It will forever be 'that' gearbox. Since then no widespread issues have come to light. Currently there is one issue that I'm watching, it's the so-called 'kangarooing". Some (not all!) 1.5 TSI DSG equipped cars have shown this, it seems when the transmission is cold and at low speeds the throttle response can be jerky. Doesn't happen on mine, Skoda UK have acknowledged this is an issue and are preparing a software update to fix this. The update should be available sometime Q1 of 2019. My Belgian dealer is also aware of this issue, and the update. I suspect it's related to emissions. Regarding the 'sealed-for-life' thing, Skoda (and VW for that matter) still send out conficting info regarding service schedule. I took delivery of my 1.5 TSI DSG Superb last saturday, and I plan to have a DSG fluid change every 2 years, done by the local transmission specialist. I also have extended warranty on the car. These are complex cars, with very complex components. The DSG is a thing of beauty in use, but that complexity comes at a price. Also, keep in mind no-one with a perfectly functioning DSG transmission is going to start a topic today on the Internet declaring his undying love for his gearbox. It's usually the people who have issues who post about it. And I feel for them, but there are some (even on this forum) who jump at every opportunity to copy/paste their story. Now, how tragic that might be, I don't think their experiences are typical of DSG owners. I'm happy with mine.
  15. Very nice in white! Went to pick mine up this weekend. 2018 Combi in L&K trim with the 1.5TSI and DSG. Replaces my 2010 Combi in Elegance trim with the 2.0 TDI. Love it so far!
  16. Also have a DQ200 DSG on the way. And I got the extended warranty, 5 years in total. I've been scouring the internet about the reliability of the DQ200, and I'm fairly certain the early units had a problem with the mechatronic unit. Initially they used synthetic ATF oil that had an additive containing sulphur that would end up interfering with the ECU of the gearbox. Newer units should run a mineral based ATF that would not cause that issue. Apart from that i'm not reading alot about recurring issues. I also plan to take my car to a gearbox specialist to change fluids. DQ200 2009-2017 have NO service schedule, they are sealed 'lifetime' units. So I plan on getting a yearly or twoyearly gearbox oil change at that specialist, depending on mileage. There are also chiptuners that offer "DSG driveability and longevity"-tune of the DSG box. I'm still on the fence about doing that, especially since I'll be having the extended warranty.
  17. I ordered from Superskoda in January, they were still "in development" at the time so I doubt you'll find someone who has them. If they were available, I would have ordered a set. In my experience Superskoda LEDs are extremely bright, very longlasting and hugely expensive.
  18. Correct, only on when the ignition is on. Estate so I had a rear wiper.
  19. That is the exact cable I've used for years to power my dashcam. I piggybacked into the rear wiper fuse on mine, but you could use any that is 'ignition live'
  20. Have a look HERE (the 'big' thread resides in the Karoq forums because the Karoq was the first Skoda to get the 1.5) That being said, I'm waiting on the delivery of my new S3 1.5TSI with DSG. My advice would be to testdrive a car (ask that it's 'cold'!) and see if the problem manifests itself. Word on the Dutch forum skodaforum.nl is Skoda NL is aware of the problem and they expect a softwarefix in Q1 2019...if that's just dealertalk to get the annoying customer to go away, of if it's really in the works, time will tell... Drove my car and another VAG product (Golf 7.5) with the exact combo of 1.5+DSG and couldn't replicate the issue.
  21. When I bought my Elegance spec second hand it had no Bluetooth. When investigating what it would take to retrofit I found there was a microphone, coding and the wiring under the passenger seat - just no module. I got a 3C8035730D Bluetooth module with WLAN and A2DP, plugged it in, and hey presto, everything worked. Talked to the (private) seller about this, he said he never used Bluetooth so he didn't want to spec it when he ordered the car new from the dealer. So the dealer got an Elegance trim car, and appearantely ripped out the module leaving everything else in place. I was amazed they didn't cut off the connectors with pliers...
  22. Maybe we should Passat to other car brands aswell. I mean, you can't just keep making Up! the puns using Skoda car names, after all.
  23. Superb-ly done. Good thing it didn't crush your testicles, your voice would be a few Octavia's higher I'm sure!
  24. To add (confusion?) I have this info; It's an option (100EUR) in Germany. Option code is PHJ - Foldable passenger seat However, it is NOT compatible with: PLC - Seats in fabric/leather/artificial leather with Varioflex PLB - Seats in leather/artificial leather with Varioflex PWC - Sportseats WFD - Style Comfort pack (seats in fabric/leather/artificial leather, Varioflex, heated steering wheel, heated rear seats, heated windscreen) Basically I think the foldable front passenger seat is ONLY compatible with the standard fabric seats. I can spec Varioflex (PWD) with Foldable Passenger Seat (PHJ) so Varioflex is not the problem. I'd say if you want to have a foldable seat, be very sure which seats you order because even though the dealer SAYS they can retrofit them, I'm not so sure.
