  1. you wont be allowed buy either then
  2. given the flood defences are in place, and the river has over topped the bank in a few places, i didnt risk getting stuck or having to turn back and adjusted my route a bit. managed to still be done in 24m 31sec, despite there being a nastier hill to go up and over on todays circuit. missed the river section though, its peaceful
  3. a rising tide with the rising sun on the way home from my run this morning.. flood defence barriers are up to close off the path accesses after the torrential rain yesterday
  4. what setup do have for this? that whirlpool shot is stunning
  5. if its an 09 and on original springs, id do both...
  6. Progress Update - i just went back and checked... my first attempt at running what turned out to be an almost 5k took me... over 35mins, probably closer to 36.. my time today is a new Personal best at 24m 31s. so, i have shaved 12mins, ish, off my time over the past nearly 4 months of running, and im able to carry on and function for the day like im looking for where both my lungs fell out... Im a happy bunny! also. i have new routine plan in my head - mornings only, leaving before 7am. Mon. Tue, Thur, Fri. it gives me the weekend off so a shot a lie in... and it gains a run per fortnight compared to the current every second day plan. dounle gain
  7. is the time right yet? edit. we may be waiting, he hasnt been on since sept 2018... wonder did we miss the right time?!
  8. right, who thought about this out loud recently to allow the collective unconscious drag this thread up again....
  9. yesterday morning.. same start point, same finish point, same route. 10m variance... strava has my vote! the mapping is also alot more accurate, i can see see where i drift wide to make the turn at the lamp post at the farthest point of the run, and the line is on the footpath (aerial layer turned on) for the vast vast bulk of the way. much happier than fitbit..
  10. well... stuoid question... is the new cv joint definitely the correct one? if it isnt, it may be creating a different ratio of drive to the wheel?
  11. hello, and yes. the engine from a mk1 fabia vrs diesel will fit in a mk1 octavia. or.... you can get all the bits for the 1.9 pd from an octy or a mkiv golf gttdi and a massive remap to get it up to where you want.
  12. strava... measures during run to 2 decimals, fitbit only does to 1. exact same route.... 5.01km about 100m earlier than fitbit had been telling me... screenshot below. under 25mins. behind thrilled..
  13. its the fitbit app, on my phone, in my pocket while running. you can use it without a wearable. and, no, its not my phones gps, as that has always had me pretty much exactly where im standing. and, as i have said in the other thread... fitbit not recording distance properly has been an issue for a couple of yrs now - on literally the same run giving vastly different measurements to other apps... using strava tomorrow, so will see what it does
  14. dubious result last as fitbit made me run about 150m further than the last 3 weeks on the same route... fk you fitbit..
  15. not going by the online communities i was reading last night... one guy ran a 10km road race that fitbit said was 8.7km.. another guy ran nike+ simultaneously with fitbit on a known route and there was almost 2km of variance in fitbit over 3 runs where strava was about 20m..
  16. luckily im only using the app, havnt purchased a wearable yet, so a i think ill be avoiding the fitbits!
  17. update... from searching and reading some of the fitbit community forums, the gps tracking is crap. some people have reported it losing kilometers off their run... one guy did a 10k fun run event that his fitbit tracked as only being 8.7km. another guy ran the same route 3times with 2 apps running - samsung health and fitbit. samsung health varied about +/- .06km. fit bit lost almost 1km from 1st 2nd run, and another 1km on his 3rd run... so, fitbit seems to be crap. going to try strava instead..
  18. i had a jelly comb bluetooth thingy in my insignia that plugged into the aux port. could do calls, and stream music to the headunit. it about 40-50mm diameter, round single button job. worked fine, layout of the cabin in the in****nia (where the aux port and 12v sockets are) meant i couldnt really hide the cables as much as i wouldve wanted. and night driving the little blue light flashing was a tad distracting unless i put it on the side of the centre console, so thats where it lived. audio quality was good, but due to where i had to put it, i did have to shout a bit during conversations to be heard. edit... i got it on amazon, i just checked and its not currently available. but it cost 15quid sterling, plus postage, so your not going to spend a fortune trying something out.
  19. im using fit bit app for trackin my runs the last few weeks. and its great, except... the last 2 runs ive done, just now and Wed morning, its not so great. its making run nearly 200m farther to cover my 5k, on the exact same route ive been runing for 3 weeks. and whats sickening is that both runs wouldve been under my target time if the finish point was in the same place as previously! anybody else use it and have the same problem?
  20. could be the alternator starting to go? when was the auxillary belt (alternator etc) and tensioner done?
  21. oh yeah, bonus .. apple tree spud sr planted a few weeks ago in the park i go through on my route. i can see it in the morning light now, and i remembered to take snap on my way through today
  22. this morning, 655am start... annoyed, as im not sure its correct.. i ws passing my end point at 24m56 but.... fit bit app didnt go to 5km for another 100m!
  23. right, i cant run at night. i dont sleep. dont even feel tired until after 1am. and when small people have a habit of waking you around 630am and you dont even have caffeine to keep you going... its just unpleasant and makes me narky. so its gonna just have to be mornings, and hope swmbo gets used to me sneaking out and can go back asleep. anyway, 15 Oct, second fastest all time at 25m 18secs. ended up missing a run due to the floor removal weekend.. 19th oct. 21st oct. this one was hard for some reason. 24th Oct, back to mornings.. and today 26th oct im happily keeping under 26mins, and i know i can crack 25. todays headwind on the return leg definitely cost me time.
  24. i think you should get the bumper chairs. they are so unnecessary they are epic.
