Interesting stats on the decline of filling stations in the UK
and wholesale rate buying power of the big chains. independents probably made up a big chunk of market share in the 60s but they cant compete with Tesco et al. in terms of volume purchase thus higher price on the pump and peopme can and will shop around for fuel.

Biceps tendon rupture, anyone 'been there'?
nifty video. looks like a neat enough solution too, given the options. swmbo has a tendon partially torn away from the bone in the rear of her shoulder. only option she was offered a few yrs ago was cortisone injections and needling... it isnt bad 95% of the time now, unless she does something unusual or drives a car with a french gearbox (the amount of clunky play in the gear change aggrevates it.)

632am - beep beep... alarm, off. 634am - sitting on bed turning off house alarm via app. 636am - "mamamamamamam" from next room.. spud jr is awake 🤦♂️ so, i change him, feed him, he doesnt want back asleep, so i give up at 745, accept im not running. swmbo arrives into kitchen and says " shur go now its grand, ill get Spud sr ready for school" so, 755am - 6km in 30m 3secs! i wouldve cracked 30mins if i hadnt need to almost stop 3 times to cross the road due to traffic m, dont have that issue at 650am!

Mac's Running Diary - edit jan '21 cycling too - edit jan 23 back @ circuit training,
so last friday morning was a dsgusting run. i was tired, hadnt slept great, really couldve skipped it, wasnt in the form and it showed... even the weather was that horrible humidy evaporating rain sticky mild feeling that makes you feel like sweating even if its a bit cold. it put me off, and i wasnt in good form after it. but after a weekend off i. got ip this morning and went. notice anything?? i was approaching the end location of my 5k route, and i was still feeling good, so said sod it, if i run this way, and carry it home, id say itll be near 6k. i had to do 2,laps of our cul de sac to close out the last 150m, but i felt really really happy, shagged tired, but happy! first time running 6k, and to do it nearly sub 30mins was a massive bonus gonna do it again tomorrow morning, see if i can crack the 30 min barrier

Coolant temp low
i havnt taken much notice of the time to get to temp tbh i also have the 1.6cr, but i would expect it to be slower in "chilly" weather. irs worth noting though... the temp sensor in a mk1 diesel had 2 outputs - one for the dash, one for ecu. the dash sensor tended to fail, mine didnt display above 70deg unless i was pointing downhill stuck in non moving traffic for a few minutes for months. i dont know if this is the same on on 1.6, but if there nothing else wrong, id say your fine..

Oil in coolant reservoir
how is the oil looking? as you said the coolant low warning light came, if it is the oil cooler, and oil is in the coolant while the coolant level drops there then also is coolant in the oil...

Octavia 2012 rear door mystery piece, cannot identify
if i had to guess its a cable clip, from the loom going to the speakers, or maybe a guide for the pull bar from the internal door pull to the lock mech?. it has 2 little barbs on the wider side (bottom in the end profile pic), so they clearly hold something thats pushed into the gap. the narrower side (top in your end profile shot) looks like it hooks into a slot somewhere. i havnt a door card off mine yet to visualise where it should be, sorry.

Wet in boot and passenger seat in octavia estate
chalk it up first - its an instant spotting aid, esp if doing it solo, as you see the track lines when you open the door i do seem to remember someone, possibly Bowders1 having an issue and tracing it to corrosion under the plastic in the roof rail slots (his was a hatch but still..) and that antenna bolt seal was also a common one a few yrs ago when i joined first (2012)

So I went and bought a Jaaaag
oddly, i dont mind that grill. i dislike the really chintzy lookin mesh where (imo) the fogs should be. the paint job is horrendous, and the overall shape gives a feel of "battered and rotted 1970s Rolls Royce owned by your broke neighbour who fancies himself as a bit of an antique dealer" thats an unusual descriotion for a car i know, but i hope it conveys adequately the image which I intended it to generate

that they do, as, iirc, they include a vasodilator affect so help open up the arteries to allow more flow at lower pressure. (i could be wrong on that bit, im not on them and it a while since i read about them).

@muddyboots yes! this is the kind of bio i want to people to feel happy to share. at the moment im still working my to consistent pace on the 5k route, im trying to decide between stretching the distance oe making the 5k more difficult (adding weight for example) its a bit of a conundrum, as with a 6yr old and 9month old, and tryin to work full time (mostly from home) there isnt a lot of time left day to day to add more run time. im gettin up at 630am as it is to get it done before everyone gets up for the day! ( not fun when the 9month old decides hes waking at 4am until 530 ) i think im into the "liking it" phase now, esp as i am getting up regarsless of weather..

Wet in boot and passenger seat in octavia estate
check the boot seal - rub some chalk along it all, then pour water over it. if any gets in, it will wash the chalk off. do the same with the back door. boot hinges can also let water in. you say your back seat was damp though? so have a look under the headlining at the seals and nut for the radio antenna.

Mac's Running Diary - edit jan '21 cycling too - edit jan 23 back @ circuit training,
this morning was the most odd run i've done. it was warm, humid, drizzly and just icky. so i left the house with a wooly hat on, which intook off and stuffed in my pocket. (do this when its cold too, until im up and going nicely). but 300m later it fell out! so i had to double back 20ft to retrieve it.. lost a bit time, annoying. i carried on, but went up the steep hill instead of around the other way, so that i wouldnt have to double back, its a minor route alteration. tgen i decided to chance coming up by the river. stung. flood barriers still closed, i couldve hopped it but i couldnt remember if the gate at the other end is climb overable, so... i took the right, and headed out by an access path beside a shop. i climbed up and over the fence rail and when hopped down to carry on running my knee just decided nah, your not jumping now your stumbling... and i ended up executing a beautiful forward roll (martial arts breakfall style) and then carried on running through the carpark. i hope the shop staff got to see it for a decent laugh on the cctv...
