  1. It is ICE hybrids allowed to be First Registered in the UK 2030-2035 is it not. Keeping up with rumours, kite flying and actual Government proposals is not simple. As it is JLR are Woke according to the President of the USA. BP has just make it biggest find of Oil & Gas in a long long time. Off South America. Not going to do much for Energy Security in the UK. The Scotland Part of the UK,s energy customers can expect an increase in annual costs because the National Grid infrastucture needs upgrading, with more and bigger pylons. Obviously where so much energy is being generated those nearest it need to pay more get it to their homes and exported to the RofUK for there to be Plunge Pricing and cheap tariffs for those furthest from 'eye sores' and anything to spoil their neighbourhoods. Then there is the A1 centres, heat pumps & EV,s in Scotland to be powered.
  2. As for VW Group / Skoda and DQ381,s and no Filter Change until the 2nd Oil Change, what a nonsense from them. @80,000 miles or sooner, and for the extra / messy work, have the filter changed, by the competent operative. Not just by someone / someplace with all the gear, but no more than ideas, so that your car keeps all its gears. I am not that amazed that VW have not yet changed the Service Schedule and advice on DQ381,s. They just keep ignoring the growing premature failure rates.
  3. Forcing a proper emissions test and introducing Euro 7 emissions by 2028 would make a big change to what manufacturers actually build and sell. The current fining or not fining them for not meeting Average fleet C02 emissions is a joke. Then people buying / leasing so First Registering cars might be lighter and more efficient & less polluting. Allowing the current kidology is ridiculous. Plenty cars built now and within the next 5 years and going on the roads to satisfy the needs of UK drivers if they do not want to be buying anything from 2030.
  4. ? Why in any gods name would a private individual who has to buy and pay to run their vehicle with their earning after tax then run a BEV bought or leased new or used if they have to pay 65 pence or more a kWh to public charging because that is the only way they have to charge a BEV? 50 kWh @ 65 pence is £33.25, if getting 4 miles to a kWh then 200 miles. 140 pence a litre, = £6.37 ish a gallon. near enough. 5 gallons £31.85 & 45 mpg = 225 miles. ....................... Maybe because you like EV,s, are getting cheaper vehicles you want size wise and actually lower maintenance and running cost, insurance / VED. Maybe just because! The Business / Commercial driver & Home / Work charging and BIK or HMRC tax breaks are not anything to do with the question posed.
  5. Agreed, driving down new EV prices on some of those @ £37,000 or below. Causing the reduction in the price of some not in the Scheme. Not a help to the UK / EU / European manufactures maybe, not going to help them meet the Target for No Emission Vehicles. Well unless the con of Trading Credits with Partners comes into things. Making use of the manufacturers just producing and first registering only BEV,s or mainly only BEV,s. As it is the price of used BEV,s and dealers ability to shift them and make profits is going to be worth watching. There is going to be a cost to Tax Payers and the economy because of the Financial Institutes / Banks / Lenders which is Pension Funds & Savers money after all, not actually the Banks / Building Societies money.
  6. New Eon Next Drive Tariff V10 has reduced the offpeak from 12am - 6am rather than 12 am - 7am and increased the tariff from 6.7 pence a kWh to 7.5 pence. Well i think it has, because it came up on my phone and chrome book and showed that, then when i searched could not repeat that figures. I will check later. I hope i never did not in error grabbed the new tariff for 12 months. (I suspect that it might have been as it appeared on the screen and as i left the the site being trying to have me do exactly that.) The probably want customers using the new Smart Drive Tariff and the 6.2 pence a kWh by using the App to start their charging. EDIT. Yes, V10 is not as good as V9.
  7. Re the Grants up to £3,750 off EV,s costing under £37,000 in the UK. What a ba-ll$ up really. Great that the likes of the Chinese Manufacturers are taking £3,750 off the price of some EV,s & the likes of Skoda are guaranteeing £1,500 off even if the Grant does not apply to their cars. This scheme seems thrown together. A list of actual vehicles that have had £3,750 taken off the RRP due to the UK Government grant will be inteteresting to see, and those eligible for £1,500. There are Youtube Vids, articles published & still it is very confusing. What is clear as day is that many EV,s were over priced and yet again the Government will use Tax Payers money to have the price paid at a Dealers reduced. That does not mean that they were overpriced though just because a subsidy reduces what some might actually pay.
  8. @Ron0511 Is this a 2020 1.4 TSI iV (PHEV) ? Maybe it is simply battery replacement time? Maybe something as basic as that would be known to fully trained VW Group technicians though & they have had the car in. They are the ones that should see these cars quite often and have all the gear and more than just ideas.
  9. Sadly things have changed about ease of coding from 2021 to 2024/25.
  10. You could not predict the future. So it was as they came from Euro 5 into Euro 6. / 6d temp. 1.2 TSI,s. Or 1.4 TDI.s They were saying VW504 00 / 507 00, so 5w 30 FS III. Fixed or Variable Servicing. But Fixed Servicing only was and is VW502 00, 5w 40 FS. But just for TSI,s. If you wanted. But they never showed that.
  11. See the new Ford Mustang GTD.
  12. 1,400 Kg and lower and 130/150 ps-300 ps, or more might be enough fun for many with the right tyres & on UK roads with the 60 mph NSL. & not that high insurance cost for many. Best plan is try before you buy, or before dismissing out of hand. Loads of cheap used ones of all flavours coming in the next couple of years.
  13. Buying / living in the UK part of Europe should mean that paying good GBP for 'Towbar Preparation' should negate any need for discussions on SFD 2 when Retro Fitting a tow bar.
  14. What came of it is the legislation started in 2021 , mandatory. (Should have been 2019) Compulsory sound warning. Nothing to do with a 'Fake engine noise'. Yet my 2023 MINI Cooper SE (Electric) does not make a warning noise for predestrians / cyclists when it is going below 12 mph. Neither did my 2020 Corsa Electric. It should not matter that they were Type Approved before 2019. But maybe that is the case.
  15. The Mk3 Fabia Owners manual from 2014/15 was 2-3 years before the 1.0 TSI & 1.0 TSI with GPF were launched and VW / Skoda went to 0w 20 FS IV at te factory pre WLTP / RDE 2 certification.
  16. I was just looking for something a bit cheaper.
  17. The MG X-Power brakes are poxy, but that only matters if you are the kind of driver that uses brakes to get a move on... Cloak of invisibility is of the greatest importance. Not making loads of noise is simply clever. But now the drones are there to see you before the traffic cops pull you in. Regardless of what you might be nipping along in.
  18. They might get beefy brakes but not all need them and really in the UK even if you think you can go places at 100 mph average speed, that is in a parallel universe. Sometime i might see some of these hyper cars going someplace really really quickly on 60 mph hill or mountain roads a lot quicker than that for mile after mile. As it is many drivers of these super cars seem unable to stay on their own side of the road on thew A93 or A939 or the Evo Triangle / Roads around the Scottish Borders.
  19. The VW recommended oil is 0w 20 FS IV. That is VW508 00 / 509 00. Not VW504 00 / 507 00, 0w 30 FS III or 5w 30 FS III
  20. @MartiniB Good. If VW 504 / 508 then 0w 30 or the 0w 40 that some places show. What age is your car / engine? EDIT, i see 2023. Does @Tibbadog,s car not have the same sticker, and as it is then last time serviced they used the wrong oil. But then that seems to be how things have been going, there are those that no longer have Long Life III or VW 502 00 , 5w 40 FS Not Long Life oil for fixed oil servicing of TSI,s. Some TDI,s from WLTP time were then getting 0w 30 FS III when they were previously 5w 30 FS III. Still VW 507 00 rather than VW 509 00 0w 20 FS IV.
  21. MINI Countryman. Barn doors but low which might be an issue. Citroen Berlingo or the sister cars. Hatch rear for shelter, low hatch entrance / for sitting. flat load area.
  22. @MartiniB Well maybe think. Connection is not about being a 280, it is any TSI after 2018 when they were WLTP Cerificated, 1.0, 1.5, 1.8, 2.0 & the TDI,s other than one that still used VW504 / 507 FS III 5w 40 FS III (long life) & III is 3. 0w 20 FS IV (Long life( & IV is 4. I never named the oil.
