  1. Sh!t happens, but there is a lot of sh!t to spread around and spoil many's day, or days.
  2. No Text or email from Charge Places Scotland telling Systems issue, or even a human call handler telling you, 'It is not just you'. It is us.
  3. Going to 205 tyres on the 17" rims might just give the same fuel saving of maybe 1 MPG if that & saves the cost of new wheels. & there might be more comfort. Or if happy buying wheels and tyres going 16" wheels and 205 tyres but fitting All Seasons.
  4. Put a wanted ad on here maybe. There are some cracking cars that have been sold on here in 'cars for sale'. . Dealers / traders can not make a big deal about a service history if there is not one. There are places that do get a load of paperwork / service history and maybe to not pass that on.
  5. The OP is in the UK where all 95 ron Unleaded sold is E10 so might have up to 10% Bio-ethanol. Skoda / VW says OK to use. the 97 or 99 ron Super unleaded is E5 and might have up to 5% Bio-Ethanol. Some might have 0% bio-ethanol like ESSO Synergy in a very small amount of the UK. Up to the person buying what they want. Sainsbury 97 ron min Super Unleaded or Tesco Momentum 99 might be no more than the Branded companies E10 95 ron.
  6. 70 pence a kWh because the AC posts are off and need charged up to 99% and ready to go. Stirling rapid chargers show as still off at the park and ride so likely paying 78 pence at Osprey to get enough charge to get home. That is how things are these days in Scotland with council owned public charging , so unless using Tesla superchargers or subscription maybe with Ionity or whoever. 98% showing 122 miles is ok if I got that and could get to Perth to charge, but likely it is 110 miles max and maybe 6-8 miles to spare I will get.
  7. What I would do is take a VW or Skoda CEO and have them 800 miles away from home with no money / card , phone or anything other than one of their PHEV,s fully charged and just to be fair 7 litres of petrol and challenge then to get home using no outside assistance and if they fail they give 5 years salary to charity.. PS 148.7 to 217.3 seems to be the claimed mpg and less than 60 mpg the real world.. I would like to see the 20 kWh,s worth taking it 75 miles then the gallon of petrol another 70. Or what ever magic they get on sharing and regeneration for the magic to happen.
  8. Your not getting 700 mpg really though. 10 gallons and one charged battery does not go 7,000 miles. Getting 75 miles from the battery fully charged does not 700 mpg give. PS. 700 miles from a full charge and 1 gallon is unlikely. .
  9. TSI,s can love the ethanol when they are mapped to appreciate it. Reduced in the UK in winter formulation because hygroscopic. A location location location thing even in the UK what is distributed and on sale.
  10. I went and looked at the Capri & the Explorers and comfy. I preferred the Explorer. Not driven any but will next year if Motability are helping Ford get more first registered and out on the roads by having low Advance Payments on them.
  11. No dip stick. & some reporting the cars saying 'Too high oil' & dealership staff saying 'Over filled' & yet new cars from a factory. So are they being overfilled at a PDI ? When these Dealership staff say they have removed the overfill then surely Factory or Supplying dealer at fault. Or surprise surprise yet another TPI and a software update required. PS There are posts online and Youtube vids where owners have been buying a kit so they have a Physical Dipstick.
  12. @PetrolDave No place in the UK as sold 98 ron for over a decade. But there is E5 97 or 99 ron minimum Super Unleaded on sale.
  13. Actually. 6-7 am there will be many Eon Next customers charging car maybe pre conditioning for 7 am departure. Shower being used, maybe finishing the off-peak use of oven, dish washer , tumble dryer. Toaster and kettle going on. Well in Politician world where nearly everyone has a house with a drive and charges there one or several EV,s at home. Plus all have a smart phone, smart watch WiFi hub smart TV, passport and a 2nd home for holidays.
  14. Parked up and left also can be left in N. Parking brake on. Doors locked.. normally will apply to some vehicles. Like generally. So what matters is how particular vehicles do things. Manual hand / parking brakes are what is relevant really when the vehicle has a good old manual pull up a lever not just use of a finger. Or unfasten a seat belt or open the driver's door. Eg E-Brake. (And auto hold)
  15. @Grc The Skoda / VW recommended oil for your 1.5TSI ACT is to VW508 00 / 509 00 so 0w 20 FS IV. The oil recommended earlier than 2018 and pre WLTP testing was to VW504 00 / 507 00 so 0w 30 FS III or 5w 30 FS III. Other members with a 2017 TDI might have one that was still recommended to use VW507 00 (Long Life) for fixed or Variable services, and still were in 2018 on. Not relevant to your 1.5 TSI ACT. Not that the 5W 30 FS III will harm your engine. Just it is not what the Manufacturers of the car recommended or filled at the factory.
  16. No idea and no idea if it makes a difference but for those that do know, is it a 1.2 TSI or 1.6 TDI Monte Carlo Mk2 Fabia?
  17. 2003 was when VW started using DQ250 6 speed wet clutch DSG,s these run until some vehicles got DQ381 7 Speed wet around 2017 & on. PS Maybe lots of Taxi,s were serviced and cared for, and some will have been treated as easy come easy go. A history of some kind like receipts / invoices for DSG servicing would be nice. This does not have to be Main Dealer servicing. The DQ250 Oil and filter changes were not complicated. ? Are you looking at cars with 80,000-120,000 miles covered, or higher miles than that?
  18. You are right, they can not be that bad. A low mileage one might not be as good as a higher mileage. Consider the DPF from how the car was used. A car used on long runs might be a better choice than one used for short runs. Lots of Superb / Octavia with 1.6 TDI CR,s and 7 speed twin dry clutch DSG are used as taxis or were. Some had no issues and some plenty with engine or DSG. Superb / Octavia with FWD & 2.0 TDI,s will have been used as taxis / airport transport and very likely serviced as required, engine and DQ250 DSG. You just need to find one that is good and not one someone got rid of because they were facing a big bill.
  19. Culzean Castle South Ayrshire, near Turnberry, Maidens, Maybole and Ayr. If you are near this area I would visit KC3,s wee abode Dumfries House. 365 days a year free entry to grounds. About 25 miles away from Culzean.
  20. National Trust. Never checked tariff. Probably less than food and drink. Edit. Free my favourite. 7kW AC.
  21. Are there less EV,s on fire, or just less reporting of these in the UK? Less major events as far as closure of roads and car parks etc Are people maybe being more careful over their charging and chargers? Headline 'ELECTRIC CARS'. but story is Electric Vehicles. So when is it actually just BEV cars / vans and when does statistics also include, e-Bikes, e-Scooters catching fire?
  22. PS The crap AI puts out on fuel is unreal. Much based on the USA or Rest of World and Octanes. Or EU / Europe not UK in Europe were 97 ron E5 is Super Unleaded. or 99 Ron Min. 100-102 or higher is sold as race fuel. Sainsbury E5 Super unleaded shown as 97 ron is good stuff and can be 97 or 99 ron min depending on who is delivering and in which part of the UK. They buy at best price @ the time and that might be from Greenergy. Producers of Tesco Momentum 99 and ESSO Synergy 99 in some parts of the UK.
  23. The VW Website and the recommendation for 98 ron was for GTI,s / R,s and was from before the UK had no retailers selling 98 ron. It went 97 or 99 ron min over a decade ago. The Skoda cars that had prescribed 98 ron were the Fabia Mk2 vRS, and before that the Octavia. If there are Skoda / VW recent published advice on Super Unleaded and use 98 ron or higher please link it. So anyway. Euro 6 1.0 TSI,s. 3 cylinder, with a misfire. Even if no fault codes logged as not enough in a cycle. Check the spark plugs. 1 is prone to premature failure. A failing plug can cause a ignition coil to fail. Simples stuff. & as to 1.0 TSI timing belts. Too many messed those up not using the correct tool.
  24. @Yorkshiremidge You should be able to leave an Auto / DSG not in PARK, with the wheels locked. & you can do and use a perking brake. You can leave a DQ200 DSG in N and start the car as long as not -8*oC or lower. People do want to service cars and not have the wheels locked. Or just not select P at times.
