  1. Turbos are ok or not, not usually a CAVE issue. The piston rings are, valves, one plug fouling with oil & carbon and burning out. You are doing well the engine runs. (Borewash is an issue, so run the Super Unleaded but not the Long Life oil. (not the VW 504 00) 5w 30 FS III) You can inspect both belts. Change the water pump of a Twincharger once it leaks and change the belts. ? Are you sure never had the waterpump changed. Are you sure the original engine from the factory? The supercharger clutch is with the waterpump. No supercharging servicing. ? Are you running it on E5 97 or 99 ron Super unleaded? If it is running rich because of short trips / journeys and not regularly getting a blast blowing out the soot occasionally is good. If not too much of an oil user then great, 3,000 mile oil changes a bit much unless that is your annual mileage. Well done if the original engine still fitted. ?? Are you running it on 5w 40 FS, so VW502 000. Not long life oil? I would.
  2. @fenny9 low oil pressure could result in a blown engine, so if you have low oil pressure how to you intend addressing that issue? A snapped cam belt is sometimes mentioned online regarding 1.6 TDI CR,s. Has your been replaced or are you going to be doing that?
  3. The purpose was because VW Group faced penalties so conned owners into a voluntary recall action. I am surprised you want to know the oil pressure but do not know about defeat devices and the VW fraud. If the Recall has not been done and is outstanding it might show as outstanding. Some went to tuners and had THE FIX rolled back. http://skoda-auto.com/services/recall-actions
  4. Comparing Apples & pears or oranges & lemons really.
  5. @fenny9 Welcome to the forum. Not related to your question, but has your 1.6 TDI CR had the Emissions Fix carried out, so the Engine Management software update, and a flow device fitted in the air intake?
  6. @thomaser07 I said a mechanic, a Motor Engineer, not a VW Group trained technician / fitter that work full time on Skoda & SEATS yet really seem to be deaf, dumb and blind when it comes to noises.
  7. IMO, If it needs a new Siren & Battery buy one, & fit it. If you can not change the battery yourself. If you can not diagnose what the fault is go to a Auto Electrician not a Main Dealership.
  8. Enthusiasts Forums / Briskoda For Sale type places. Approved Used Cars from VW Group might be no better than from Car Super Markets or Online buying, CINCH etc. People often get rid of crap vehicles and they end up at the above places or just at traders / dealers anyplace. It is a lottery. Made easier since you are just looking to buy one car. All the best searching.
  9. @OccyVRS 2013-2015 DQ200,s. The Service Campaign period covered after the 2009-2012 World Wide Recall excluding Europe of 5 million plus DQ200,s. Then 2015-2018, TPI,s on Clutch Packs and Software. Uprades. So as i said, the DQ381 worse than the failure rates of these with known issues. Obviously denied long enough by VW group. Just look how many we build and how few are Sh!te. Or how many owners and told lies at Dealerships & Customer Services. PS If looking at forums including Briskoda and reading about failings, look maybe at UK, Ireland, New Zealand & Australia, so right hand drive cars. Then maybe see which are people with FWD,s or with AWD,s and are they all having pretty much the same faults with DQ381,s.
  10. If there were only 50 faulty DQ381,s out of 60,000 Kodiaq with DQ381,s then Skoda might get on and stop taking the p!th, even if 100 out of 60,000 they could say an issue they are addressing regardless of Warranty. But the issue is Global and VW, Skoda, SEAT and Audi. It is a biggy, not jst overblown on Social Media, Forums, Briskoda.
  11. The alarm is a siren with a battery. Nothing to do with the horns. Unless different with a MK3. Is it not below the windscreen scuttle?
  12. Premature failure rate worse with DQ381 worse then 2013-2015 or even to 2018 DQ200,S. No acknowledgement of such from VW group. No fit for purpose for 6 years laws / legislation coming in here. Again fundamental design manufacturing or material faults. Tough titty on those without a valid warranty and even the same for some with you are treated like idiots. Just a minor issue, you are lucky to have a VW group car not as bad as some others from other manufacturers.
  13. @thomaser07 Time to let a mechanic diagnose what the fault is surely!
  14. @krdsrl Welcome, i read what car you used to have, but had to go to your profileto see what car you have now and are asking about. Best post what car / engine it is. 1.6 TDI CR 2015.
  15. @gkly Are they selling ones which are not serviced to the Manufacturers Recommendations, guidelines, advice or specification foe servicing? Variable Oil & Inspection services and the Pollen Filter and Brake fluid changes done. Not very much is involved in servicing with Skoda UK approved workshops. A history of ticks is one thing, but actual Servicing and Maintenance is another. Skoda / VW Approved used cars are sold at a premium yet might only just have been looked at and had minimum Servicing that Fleet / Lease cars might get.
  16. Just DQ400-e exist. Used with PHEV,s. 6 speed wet clutch. 40,000 miles service regime.
  17. 7 Speed Wet Clutch DQ500 DSG were used with Kodiaq vRS (RS) i believe. 40,000 miles Oil & Filter changed regime with those.
  18. @Alanovich There is no filter to change, but there are 2 oils. In the MCU and in the box. Maybe consider changing at 100,000 miles. There can be a reset done if needed in a year or 5 if needed.
  19. I am not trying to be awkward. 67 is the Reg Plate, tells when first registered. Not when built, & left the factory, Gives not a clue to how long maybe bunkered / in a showroom before being first registered. The owners here that know details will know the engines, if you have a GASOLINE PARTICULATE FILTER. I suspect your car left the factory with VW 504 00 / 507 00. Others should know what theirs had if the same as your engine.
  20. @deedie No the engine does not require VW 502 00 , 5w 40 FS (Not long life.) **It can be used, it is for Fixed Oil & Service Regimes. I use it for TSI,s. ** You might find 0w 40 even. To VW 502 00. Yes you are going around in circles. I do wish you would clearly state the Age and Engine your car has. With or without a GPF? You will be perfectly OK with 0w 30 FS III, as you will with 5W 30 FS III. If you want use non Long Life OIl & change Annually or at 9,400 miles or sooner. VW 502 00.
  21. I wonder if just an 'apparent recall' or an actual RECALL where keepers will be asked to take vehicles in. Actually a TPI, a Service Campaign action where only those reporting issues get anything done. Others with the same vehicles will know if informed of a Recall Action.
  22. There was online manuals. There are screen shots / links from those. Some printed manuals actually printed before the went VW508 00 / 509 00, So those are not much cope. As it was they said 'Check at Dealerships' Workshops etc. Yet they new jack sh!t often.
  23. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/448200-vw-508-00-oil Skoda only started filling at the factory late 2017 with 0w 20 FS IV. It was after this that members started asking on here.
  24. @deedle If your car is a 67 Plate registered between September 2017 & March 2018 then it was as the WLTP was introduced. They many have started filling with 0w 20 FS IV pre WLTP testing, but prior to that it was 5w 30 FS III. After Skoda oil recommendation changed there were still dealerships using the oil they had for years previously. Your engine was not shown when they published this.
