the truth about electric cars
Maybe time that there were smaller Tesla models to suit more World Regions. & built in Europe. Or is it too late for that?

EV real world range and cost to charge
. Cost to charge, off peak, home work maybe 7 pence a kWh or even less. 6.2 pence. Public Charging , Ultra Rapid maybe 60 pence to 90 pence. Loads of money. More than running a diesel if it is just fuel cost. But if the EV is much more efficient and get near 6 miles to a kWh then things get better / less expensive.. 500 miles divided by 85 kWh is 5.8 miles a kWh. Lovely if that is what the minimum efficiency was, loaded, cold weather etc. Long range so longer time between charges is not worth that much if the car is not comfortable for hours of non stop driving. IMO. So 473 miles.... Now we are at 5.56 miles a kWh, WLTP. Not real world. I would have one just on looks. But it would need to be comfy for 3 hours without getting out, then comfy for another 3 after an hour or so of a break. 150 miles then another 150 miles. That is a 7 hour trip.

High oil usage ??
@Ronxy89 I suggest if you are getting a Low Oil warning message /light and are putting in 0.5 litres you are running the car with too little oil. 3.9 litres and a warning might be when the oil is as much as 1 litre to 1.3 litres low. Be sure you put in enough oil, 0.5 litres is not enough in a 2012 1.2 TSI. From warning to correct level. Does it get 3.9 litres filled in at oil changes? Do you check the Oil at normal operating temperature and have it in Area A on the dipstick. You are working the oil hard if running a lower quantity.

Cambelt quandary
Brake Fluid changes used to be first at 2 years then went to first at 3 years then each 2 years. Now back to each 2 years. Haldex was at 4 years / 40,000 miles, then 3 years / 30,000 miles. Still not always a proper service. Other like Volvo were @ 20,000 / 2 years. ................. VAQ FRint diffs were @ 3 years / 30,000 miles and many were never told required, or 'It is optional'. Now it is at 2 years / 20,000 miles.

Cambelt quandary
Service Desk staff, Service Managers, on job training, and Up-selling. Ask the Dealer Principal, or the Area Manager, even the Groups Director or Directors, is it their Policy. The Unique position that VW Group UK and Skoda, SEAT, VW & Audi took with the 5 year / 50,000 miles over therest of Europe / EU is what is really strange. But then there were other countries / regions with only 2 year warranties and not 3. VW Group Main Dealerships liked car to sell with FMDSH and that history to their Guidance, Recommendations, schedule or specification. It is nice for them that vehicles with over 50,000 miles had the cambelt done already. PS Always worth asking if the Master Tech is available and if they recommend the Cam Belt replacement. Personally with a keeper i know how i drive a car and full servicing and maintenance is just 'Simply Clever' if doing the miles and having the vehicle for many years. As for a 1.5TSI ACT. That i would just not have as a keeper.

All In Service Plan and warranty
@Aldfort Which car did you have with which DSG that got it serviced under an All in one Plan? Was it one that needed it at 40,000 or at 80,000 miles? How much was the 'All in one plan' which included a DSG service when you took it out? Are they available now? Or just 'All in' plans?

Cambelt quandary
Ford 1300 CVH 4 decades back is a whole different kettle of fish. More worrying is in the last 5 years right up to now Wet Belts in Diesel Fords / VW,s. Partners. Often Belts are not the issue. 1.6 TDI VW dry belt, but tensioners. So here the discussion might be 2014 on 1.2 & 1.0 TSI,s and 1.5 TSI ACTs. Their own Can of Worms.

Cambelt con at service time at Marshalls
It was only in the UK which is not a Dust Rich Country up to 2023 that Main Dealers / SKODA / VW UK were advising, giving recommendations, or saying the schedule was at 5 years / 50,000 miles. Taking the p!th as it turned out.

Cambelt quandary
As it was and is. The 5 years /50,000 miles up til 2023 was only for the UK which is not a Dust Rich country.

Fuel Gauge Problem
My BMW is bang on correct time after time. When I get home from the North and don't spare the horses filled to first click shows this. When I get back from the South and full to the same it will be 635 miles that shows. Always using the same pump. Then when I head back that way and am 30 miles away it will be showing 630 miles range.

Towing with a DSG DQ200
@JackG25 I have not towed anything near the plated weight with a DQ200 DSG, but it would have been an idea to say it is a 1.5 TSI ACT you have, so 150ps & 250 Nm torque. It will tow just fine.

Cambelt replacement schedule?
MOT Testing stations that have ramps or not enough ramps could work longer hours. But if Examiners are not available that is an issue. As it is the UK,s MOT is damn cheap for an hours labour of a qualified professional (1 1/2 people) and equipment / facilities. (Not 45 minutes, start to finish.) If that Technician / Mechanic was doing Garage Work the hourly rate might be £100 plus VAT. As it is even On the Side & no VAT< nod and a wink might be £50 an hour.

the truth about electric cars
There are papers that have lists of EV,s they think will get grants. Seemingly Manufacturers have to apply to have vehicles included. Looks like a thrown together not sorted out scheme. How are Lease cars affected, or are they not. Cars people have ordered and are on their way, and they qualify, I assume they get their discount. Cars need to be getting bought then, by private individuals regardless of how many they might already have. Can they buy then just transfer the keeper ship to A.N. Other. So not like Interest Free loans, or buying an EV if you do not already have one, used electric car or van schemes as in Scotland.

Do places still have Inspection Pits built for working on passenger cars?

the truth about electric cars
@PetrolDave No idea why they say 'People that have driveways', it is residential properties that matters / homes. (Are they counting all the 1 day olds to 17 year olds?) They might have from 1 person to 40 living there or any number. Multiple occupancy. How many people in the UK or across the Country of England have a driving licence and live in a property with offroad parking and that can have EV chargers is a figure they have not a clue about, but i am sure someone will be getting paid to conjure up an 'estimate'. There is another issue. Long since past the time Properties / Residences were Surveyed for Council Tax Purposes and then they will know who or what has a door with access to ground floors, or to a private or shared off road parking or access. PS Insurers in the UK know how many Car / Vehicle Insurance Policy holder 'claim to have offroad or private parking' and use it overnight, or even daytime. They will know i expect as a calculation how many are lying on their insurance proposal / application. Another can of worms that Insurers and the Government will not want to be opening.

Fuel Gauge Problem
@JohnD123 If when fuelling you stop at the first click does the available range show the same as if you are going to brim it maybe putting in 7 more litres? Full / brimmed maybe 80-100 miles covered before the gauge, estimated range drops?

the truth about electric cars
Now it is "Up to 70% of people do have a Drive Way" according to Lilian Greenwood MP Future Roads Minister.

the truth about electric cars
They need to get a grip as far as the Ministers sent out. Prepped with all the key words, and messages to get out. Lilian Greewood MP, Futures Road Minister is the one today. As see appears on more programmes she is getting more up beat, Sky, then BBC then onto ITV. 'Give them / her an EV for a month with either them or their driver driving and a rule that they must do just public charging & not using Government / Work place charging. Not expecting them to be getting the 2 pence a mile that they go on about but do their miles at 15 pence a mile. Again it is the 'Across the Country' when talking England and Councils in England, then 82,000 public chargers around the UK. Just say 'Across England' if England and 'Across the UK' if the UK, or Across Britain if Britain'. It is not British Drivers, other than if they mean Drivers in Britain be them British or any other nationality. As to British Workers. Is this them going all REFORM UK. Stop the boats. British Cars for British People / Drivers. The quoted 'AVERAGE Price of EV,s, is really not that important when so many EV,s first Registered were / are Company Cars, premium cars per the number of EV,s there were 'Offered for sale' up to last year and more and more on sale with RRP,s under £30,000. The Politicians do seem to just dismiss the Public Charging Issue, and think 'Parking outside your home', and gullies are the solution, or part of the solution. Mention as some TV presenters do, Flats, Tower Blocks etc. We get back to ACROSS THE COUNTRY. Mention not just needed on major routes but in Towns & Cities and again the Local Councils, ACROSS THE COUNTRY. BBC,s presenter this morning says 'Will dealers not just increase prices to then people get discounts?' Well it is Manufactures RRP,s. Sky,s presenter pointed out to today's Government minister, he has an EV. She says, Her husband has a Hybrid, but the next car, blah blah blah. Home charging and we can charge when we go places. Yes you can, at prices greater than the Petrol & Diesel which in the UK is more expensive than needs to be. The sustainability / green credentials will be interesting. Chinese built cars / imported from around the world. MINI Electrics, vs a British Built Nissan. Or a car built on Mainland Europe / EU. Battery and material sources, factories using renewable energy to manufacture etc. Cars with more performance than efficiency. The WLTP figures are very much kidology.
