  1. Welcome. It is a TSI i take it. What re-map takes it to 250 bhp? Is there a Dyno Print out or some proof? What country are you in, and is you insuring it not an issue? Not having receipts for the oil and filters does not really matter does it, it was not getting services at dealerships was it, and they say they were doing it every 10,000 km, which is not even at the fixed service regime, unless that was each year. WHAT IS THE SERVICE & MAINTENANCE HISTORY THAT THEY SAY THEY DO HAVE IF NOT THE BILLS? ? How long have they had the car?
  2. So grants or money off some electric cars £37,000 and less and various amounts. Manufacturers to apply for which ones in their range it will be. Looks like being a complicated scheme. No idea how it affects those that lease / rent their vehicles and no matter if £30,000 or £27,000 they are not buying, just leasing. PS. Will an Alpine A290 meet the strict environmental requirements, or a Abarth 600-e? EDIT. Band 1. £3,750 Band 2. £1,500
  3. Groundhog day. We all hear it, read it, see it. Post about it. There is nothing new really going on is there? Car fires, pavement crossed by cables. Contact your councillor, MP or maybe Reform UK. Stop the boats, stop the EV,s.
  4. This type of charging is happening and has been for years now. It is just so it is. Blind people or those with poor sight know all about all these types of trip hazards. As do Guide Dogs for the blind. I live in a town with the Guide Dog Training Centre. People like me with artificial legs are maybe fine walking on snow as long as it is not thawing and turning to ice. Those that clear snow and then let water turn to ice maybe need to think on and get salt / grit down. ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Head for thinking, feet for dancing, or even possibly tripping. Councils and Government need to realise there are non as daft as folk including politicians.
  5. Skoda Servicing might say the DSG Oil change does not require a new filter until the 2nd service. Stuff that for a game of soldiers.
  6. @MP74 Is that Skoda CZ that told you about the Monroe Lifespan of 50,000 - 80,000 miles? Or some person that has no Motor Engineering training or Qualifications @ a Dealership? Or a WARRANTY MANAGER, same thing, not a Technician. I would be having them put that in writing with their name and position / job with Skoda. Monroe will no doubt be interested to know that Skoda fit the 'Not fit for purpose component'. Being out of Warranty is not relevant when Skoda Warranty T&C,s exclude shock absorbers.
  7. Let's see just how this goes down when announced and not some leaking pre the announcement. Is it Parliament that is supposed to be told first which is why she only mentioned the £63 million, for this country. England that will be. Tax increases possibly later on in the year. Surely not taxing people on money earned and then handing out money to assist in buying new cars. Or could it be Used EV,s that grants are for to help get flogged off all these ex lease / fleet vehicles that were cheep to business users but many private buyers or those without charging weed not buying. Quite a Press Release. There is UK, Britain, British Drivers, England and NHS England even Across the UK & Across the Country. 8. Ps. If you want more light for reversing putting on the rear Fog light is simply clever. After all your should not be doing it as anyone is coming towards you.
  9. One rear side light / position light on and one rear reg plate light and the same side at the front sidelight are the 'parking Lights'. Put the indicator stalk down to one side or another . Nothing what so ever to do with the Rear Fog Light.. some of us will have seen it had the light red and white lenses with a clip that went in the front window, you closed the window and plugged it into the Cigarette lighter socket. Parking light.
  10. Is it All Seasons that are needed or actual Winter (Snow) Tyres and will the car be going where snow chains might be required like into the mountains?
  11. Years ago Motability had Mazda MX5 Automatics on their lost. I went to try one and got in and struggled to get out. Mazda must be wanting to get some manuals punted.
  12. 225,s on a 7.5 x 17" rim might be a good idea for performance over style. A size that some Golfs had.
  13. @Carlston will tell you about width of rims. I would not be going slightly less circumference / total diameter as you are thinking. Is it looks you are going for?
  14. Would it make any difference if you did know the oil pressure? If you thought it was low what would you do about it? The car has been as it is for 11 years and is still going well is it not!

  16. ^^^ A 7 speed wet clutch DSG then, a DQ381 with VW Group / Skoda Recommendation, guidance, schedule or specification of Oil changes @ 80,000 miles and not even the filter changed til the 2nd Service. Scary stuff. Be sure to have an Extended Warranty covering the DSG.
  17. Is your Octavia one with the PCD of 5 x100, so not 5x112? Fabia, Ibiza, Polo, Old Golfs, Old Octavia etc 5x100 Are the 18" Rims you are looking at like, 5x100 18" 6.5 J ? What size tyres are on the car now? @Carlston Can give you all the numbers.
  18. We will see if there are to be grants again. Not just or including 'Business Users', who do well already. What means tested Income level, like to those earning or with incomes under £35,000 Like the point that those 66 and over in England are not getting Winter Fuel Payments. Surely Grants should be on Efficient EV,s, & Ones of certain Weight, Length, Width etc, & not encouraging the buying of Luxury / Premium vehicles that Manufacturers are keen to get punted out when really they should maybe be having restriction to acceleration & top speeds to comply with UK traffic laws. (Cross the English Channel or Irish Sea and they can then get FULL Enabled performance.)
  19. Find out about a TDI & do not assume because Skoda / VW say 'all' that is not just TSI,s. The Real issue was DEALERSHIP being landed with Used 1.5 TSI ACT,s with 50,000 miles and not Serviced to the Manufacturers Guidelines because not paying £850-£1,200 so trading them in. A Skoda Approved Used car would not have a FMDSH and servicing to Schedule & Dealerships would be paying their employees and parts & that was just not on after decades of taking the p!th in the UK. 5 years / 50,000 miles.
  20. They could be selling to the Providers of Public charging than, and even with the 20% VAT there that would be a very very reasonable cost to run an EV. That is not how it is working though. I just heard from another EXPERT, Professional, 82,000 Public Chargers, that is across the UK then. I also heard that the EV Charger signs are for England. About time that is Scotland on Trunk Routes and not there were signs showing distance or guidance to EV hubs. Not all EV,s are that good at directing drivers to them. Just as Sat nav and apps might get you near, but still the Chargers are hidden away someplace. PS Happy Hours in Pubs is really nothing to use as a comparison. What has someone buying alcohol at a Supermarket or Off licence and taking it home and drinking it in their own 'An Englishman's Home is their Castle'. Very different from the sticky carpet of some 'eatery and drinking place'. Well some might have sticky carpets or saw dust on the floor. Even at home. ................. Let us know when the bottom 2/3 of the UK is self sufficient in Electricity and not bringing it in from the North or South.
  21. A serious question for these that maybe know about Electrics, equipment components. Wall Boxes / Home or workplace chargers are not cheap, even if installed free, someone pays. ? Why would a Wall Box 7kW EV charger last only 7 years or less? Is it to do with water / corrosion, or which parts fail?
  22. £63 million additional spending by the Government. Maybe £1.20 for very person in England for the 'Across the Country'. The Royal Family cost around £510 million. The Royal Grant £86 million. £1.29 pence for every person in the UK. Everything is just how much you wish to spend. A new Fighter Jet is about the cost the Royal Grant is.
