the truth about electric cars
There are so many cars that a passenger with legs can not sit behind a driver even if they are not tall. The driver that is. But then many do not need to carry more than 2 adults. If you do need to have 3 full size people or 4 as passengers than you can look see what gets used as plated Taxis, Airport transport etc and they will usually have the space. This applied to EV,s as well. Sometimes just not the space for 4 and 4 suitcases and 4 carry on bags. For that maybe an estate car is the solution.

the truth about electric cars
Funnily I do not find a Superb easy to get in and out of. Wide sills. My observation over last 150 miles motorway drive. Some Tesla drivers are cheeky barstewards for undertaking. We are all going the same direction and what ever is slow on the inside lane we are all passing. Tesla drivers are the new BMW drivers.

the truth about electric cars
Your not insured. You have insurance for anpr, you just take mum or dad or step parents car. They are sitting there, take the phone or key . Was nobody here ever young and went joy riding or have kids that did. It is like England must be a while different country from the rest of the UK. Car d!cks knock about in BMW M3 or M5,s and no licence. Locally i20 N,s seem to be flavour of the month for some with a new licence. Not N lines.

the truth about electric cars
@wyx087 you 'liked' the Johnny Smith video of the Tesla he bought at auction. MOT failure car needing a few bits and pieces and a ticket. Much cheapness and with 'insane mode" called that with this dual motor car because insane not to buy this with Free Tesla charging and that ability to blow away the Corsa, Fiesta and Type R kiddies. Insure in your mum's name. PS. How many more like that are kicking around waiting to be the next fast food delivery vehicle to replace their e-bike,?

the truth about electric cars
Eye witness in car being ovetaken then GPS on car and phones and all the information from the ECU will tell the tale of the vehicle and occupants last journey while alive. Now it is not just the wealthy that can have very fast cars not that it ever has been, but now for under £6,000 you can get a very quick EV and maybe with suspension, brakes and tyres just needing a bit of work and a MOT or even cheaper fixed / parts and a snide MOT. Garage staff doing road tests of very quick cars might well be a liability and should require more than just a driving licence and the standard test..

the truth about electric cars
@lol-lol I pick up the courtesy MINI E on Tuesday night and will have it for at least 3 nights. I will play about more with it this time. When i took it home last time i did not mess about setting anything or adjusting other than the seat and mirrors then was booting it home. It was doing near 5 miles a kWh. and i never charged it when home or before taking it back. It was damn good and nothing was switched off, lane keep assist or speed limit warning. It was not as sharp to accelerate as my MINI in Mid and i just tried Go-Kart mode for a few bends then back to mid. It cornered very very well in that setting. (The tyre pressures were showing all at 2.5 bar.)

the truth about electric cars
Sh-!t weather and doing quite a few miles and many more to cover in the next 4 days. I am more than happy to be paying 140 pence a litre for diesel and getting 46 mpg or better rather than paying 60 - 79 pence a kWh to charge so maybe £6.00 to £7.90 for maybe 37 to 46 miles as I drive.

The 280PS Thread
Dealership sadly can change ownership and management and the good staff, technician and master tech. There is a Skoda Approved Repairer in the North East of Scotland that is pure dead brilliant. Family owned not part of a group. People travel from quite some distance to go to there ignoring places much nearer to them. I hope they can continue as they are. Skoda / VW are just incompetent in overseeing the aftesales and serving and maintenance. And training. Maybe AI will improve the knowledge of staff in dealerships. It could not get worse than it is in many dealerships.

the truth about electric cars
Qatar Investment Authority share ownership of VW group might not be huge but I bet their influence is. I would expect more mention of Qatar from Financial commentators or publications. Eg FT. Financial Times owned by a Japanese holding company.

the truth about electric cars
I am reading that those representing liquid fuel sellers are blaming the installation of EV chargers for the hight priced of petrol and diesel. I also see today some car manufacturers blaming having to build EV,s for needing to close factories. .... I also see lots of recalls being required by the car manufacturers . ICE vehicles. Various issues. Engine issues. ..... Then I sed the various versions of EV,s coming out, rally ready, or street rally looking. High performance licence looses. Vehicle to appeal to boy / girl racers or just old codgers maybe. Lay down a deposit and sign on the never never.

How much oil should be used...
@Gammyleg Not complicated, so where does that cold / tepid level then show on the dip stick when checked at operating temperature? The thing is, different engines, oil capacities then oil filters up top or below. So it is total common sense to check oil cold and know there is oil in, but that is not how VW describe how to. Global temperatures, height above sea level etc etc. They have dip sticks with markings where the suggest where the level should be at 'Normal Operating Temperature'. They were just the biggest car manufacturer in the world once, but we all know better than them... They had real engineers at some point, but they were blamed for VW cheating emissions. Even putting diesel in engine oil for the old NEDC testing on rolling roads.
-
How much oil should be used...
Not WARM. Skoda said warm. VW, AUDI, SEAT said Hot. Lost in Translation, CZ, German, English. Normal operating temperature of 90*oC is HOT, too hot to dip a hand in. Oil up to Area A, top of crosshatch.

How much oil should be used...
Are you sure properly topped up when you do put in oil. (and be sure not to over filled), checked when engine at operating temperature. (not the cold level.) Are you checking the oil as needed when hot, as well as when stone cold? No idea what your driving is, longer trips or lots of shorter cold start trips. How long have you had the car, and before topping up in June when was the oil change or top up? PS. Even if you had not topped up, just opened the bonnet, the warning goes off for 100 km / 62 miles. 0.5 litres in 1,000 km is too much oil used under normal weather conditions in a car not towing. VW have had this showing for decades.

The next generation MINI Cooper Electric 2024 & MINI Aceman 2024/25 pics & Videos.
An owner going some place, real world efficiency on that day, compared to a vlogger / journalist just trying one out for a few miles. There are 3 advertised on Autotrader. Under £37,000. (£33.500 even) You pre select the amount of regen you want. Not ideal. Then that is what you get when you switch to more regen from the default mode. What you want what you really really want is suitable tyres for when it rains or is cold, or even hot and dry and you want to get a move on but not just flooring the accelerator and thinking there will nor be wheel spin. Otherwise you might as well drive the less power / less torque models. Steering that is not all over the place and having you off the road or across into oncoming traffic at the slightest lack of concentration just needs you to go into a not Go Kart Experience.(Mode) it still goes as quickly just feels more relaxed. 16*oC outside and temp set to 16*oC inside and no AC on as no need if dry and no steaming windows and you would get easily 20 more miles or even more and not be uncomfortable. Over 20*C is not actually more efficient, and then you might well want AC, but without AC on you can still have the interior at 16*oC. Maybe T-Shirt temp, or a bit cold for some...

the truth about electric cars
I see that Skoda now have started teasing the upcoming Epiq. Looks like that £17,000 that was the tease back when we were all younger is now £25,000 As usual with the VW Group they use their tame Publishers, Haymarket Media Group, Autocar / What car. Those that are selectively blind when Skoda launch vehicles with faults requiring visits again and again to dealers and will launch new ones while dealerships are giving appointment for warranty repairs, updates months away.

the truth about electric cars
Oil refineries require oil and gas to generate the electricity to run them. No idea just how much oil and gas is not required with Geangemouth refinery closed. Gas required to have the oil flowing through the pipes to the refinery. UK energy security is being reduced PDQ by this Government and the last actions or inactions.

the truth about electric cars
BBC TV maybe not covered it, but Radio 4 & 5 Live did last night and this morning. Just filled up with diesel, 139.7 pence a litre. half tank to full £55.50 and showing 635 mile range. Away to do 1,200 mile trip and then MOT due end this month, suspension, brakes and steering parts required then it is getting sold. Seating and pedal space just about identical to the old and new Electric Mini. Great comfort. Crap imitation fat leather steering wheel on the New MINI and not nice fabric interior or fake leather seating.

the truth about electric cars
Ford must be doing Motability a good price on buying their biggest BEV with a smaller battery hoping to get plenty customers leasing them & getting First Registered. Leasing a Dacia Spring from Motability is costing double much more than just leasing from Dacia, even taking into account Insurance is included with Motability.
-
Mobility cars. Are they worth it
New Motability Price list out for this quarter. Ford must be doing a good price to Motability to get the nil advance payment on the big BEV with a smaller battery.
