Do the vRS TDI models (facelift and before) have a limited slip differential?
Welcome. No VAQ so that means no need to have a VAQ service.

Energy Saving Trust (Scotland) loan
@OvvIf Steven Rodger is still at Skoda Specialist cars Dundee you will be in pretty good hands if you get a chance to deal with him. '£30,000 or less', not 'lower than £30,000 to qualify as in £29,999 & 99 pence or less.'

How does climatronic auto/AC modes work?
Basically everything requires energy / power so fuel. Heating, cooling, ventilation. Even producing energy requires energy. But the difference can be between Ooo & Ahha, or a Ba,s hair. Open the windows, close the windows, run the heating cooling or AC as you want and if a few litres more difference in a year matter then maybe walk or use a bike.

Energy Saving Trust (Scotland) loan
@OvvWelcome. Has the sales executive or senior sales executive at the branch no experience of customers making an application and how long they took dealing with it. I do not imagine that those dealing with the application are rushed off their feet. Are you in or near Dundee or Perth by chance? Is it a used / ex demonstrator / pre reg Enyaq up to £30,000 that you are looking at? http://energysavingtrust.org.uk/grants-and-loans/used-electric-vehicle-loan http://energysavingtrust.org.uk/travel/financial-support/grants-and-loans http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/465690-new-or-improved-hubs-announced-government-ev-loans-in-scotland-and-free-and-no-longer-free-public-charging-places

RAC Breakdown and Recovery renewal.
18 months ago they tried doing double what it cost the previous renewal and eventually I got through by phone and 18 months cover for the price of 12 months. £75. So up it pops this morning. £156 auto renewal. The online to your account is hopeless and the phone menus and delays took me 45 minutes to speak to someone. Obviously they wanted to quote me happy. This time they can get stuffed for being a set of chancers. I have cover with the AA with a bank account and the Motability car if covered with the RAC. Breath.

EV real world range and cost to charge
Fly back into Oslo or any other airport and go collect your car from the long stay or short stay car park and there is no chance to pre condition your car. That is what many offshore workers or just workers or people on holiday do so real world. It is why many Oil workers are not driving EV,s in the UK but they might well be in Norway. As for going to Ski centres, winter sports, or anyplace really with car and people and you get there and there is no charging near and you park up and do your activity and at the end of the day you leave and head to where ever which might be no place near then charging can be a necessity. That can be totally hopeless in Scotland as anyone that has done it will know because the infrastructure is not there for that. Aviemore is about as good as it gets for chargers but even there it takes a lot of luck if you just want to get charged and on with your journey. PS Last week at Edinburgh Airport i was able to get charging at my 3rd attempt as the chargers were playing up. I went to the loo and when i came back a gent with a Polestar was attempting to get 1 of the 6 chargers working, only 3 of them were. He had a flight to catch and had to return the hire car with 75% charge. I let him on the charger i was on as i had enough charge to get home and it is 55 pence a kWh. I never asked him how much he would be surcharged if the car went back without 75 % charge. Surely not the crazy sort of price you are charged per litre if you return an ICE without a full tank and they fill it up.

All in One Policy vs Actual Practice at the garage?
There is not much to do yet some places or some employees make a song and dance about money for old rope. Always make sure that Body Inspection is done & a record of it is made for the corrosion warranty because Skoda / VW UK are quick enough to point out if there is no record of it being done if there is a claim made. Says road test, should get a road test. Extended Scope says remove wheels, so they should remove wheels. Even change wheels front to back if you ask unless they can not be bothered. If Dealerships have an issue with Skoda UK websites then they know who to discuss that with.

the truth about electric cars
There are Stallantis EV,s that do not have the brake lights come on with regen braking because Type Approval did not require it as not deemed to be aggressive enough slowing down yet shifting it to B can slow the car as quick as touching the brake pedal. The MINI electrics brake lights are just too quick to illuminate without much of a reduction in speed happening. @9 min 10 seconds. Harry says the tyre size on the Level 3 205/45 R 17's and later talks about just getting a level 1 on 17" wheels. So that is both cars on 17's. Better just get either on 16" wheels which is a no cost option, and i think he maybe just drove the car as it was handed to him and maybe dropping the tyre pressures would have been an idea.

the truth about electric cars
@J.R.Drum brakes on the rear of the Skoda EV,s. The brake pad wear with the disc brakes really is from cleaning the rust off them.

Extension of Cambelt change - as of 2 August 2023.
It was the 1st July that posts started on here about the change. People do need to heck if the change does apply to all the diesels & petrol's with cam belt from all build dates because there are people that work with Dealerships or Customer Services that just repeat what they heard from others. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/515184-vag-cambelt-replacement-interval-change

DVLA clamping cars & vans in Forfar and probably elsewhere.
I spotted this morning in under 1 mile 6 cars and 1 van clamped. I assume no VED, expired MOT or maybe no insurance. So done by the DVLA or their contractor. This is the first i have seen these clamps used or actually anything clamped in Scotland for many years.

EV real world range and cost to charge
^^^ exactly. And in the UK most EV,s being bought might well be driven by people who never bought them but just drive them. Companies / businesses / local authorities etc leased or bought. So Employees have them as a works vehicle, cars or vans. I am sitting charging free on a 11 kW AC. Next to me are 6 NHS leased EV,s. All plugged in and none are charging. None are a Tesla. When who ever gets the keys comes out to drive them they will be fully charged and have 150-200 mile plus range and might only do a few miles before next plugged in again. Same thing in winter and none will be pre conditioned. Thousands of EV,s never get Pre-conditioned because they are not at someone's home plugged in and they might not have the cars App on their phone to even start remotely heating the interior. No manager or caretaker pre conditioning them. There is real world and there is ideal real world conditions and many do not operate in that world.

the truth about electric cars
@Graham Butcher Low Emission Zones where paying £12.50 allows the vehicles the freedom to drive regardless of the emissions that is the money raiser & a p!ss take.

the truth about electric cars
Glasgow has a low emission zone now in the city centre and no paying £12.50 to take in the most polluting vehicles in (WTF! is that kidology?) just a £60 fine if you take in ones that should not be there, reduced to £30 if paid in 14 days. Nearly 3,000 fines issued in the first month. http://bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-scotland-business-65935598 Just a few yards from the Low emissions zone is this.

the truth about electric cars
The air quality is very clean where it is very clean, not where it is not. Head for thinking feet for dancing and nose and mouth for breathing. The UK is an island nation / nations, the air should be clean. It should stay clean. http://scottishairquality.scot http://scottishairquality.scot/latest Scotland. http://tfn.scot/lists/the-most-polluted-streets-in-scotland Re EV fires, Just last Friday my cousin was telling me that an A&E nurse she was talking to was on about the horrific injuries and deaths from accidents involving EV,s. I asked, where and when these accidents were happening and why is there no media coverage on them. My cousin seems to want to believe the nurse more than me checking the social media and global media. What i do know is how many Stagecoach busses have been catching fire in Scotland and elsewhere around the UK. (use a search engine 'Stagecoach bus fires' It looks like no deaths of life changing injuries luckily.

Mk2 vRS Timing Chain Replacement
@AtleszWhat do you want to see about them that you can not see easily using Youtube. There are no guidelines really for your 2010 Mk2 vRS from Skoda. It is a non service item. Are you wanting to replace the timing chain and tensioner because you have issues and it needs replacing ? EDIT. PS Sorry, i see you are rebuilding your engine so you are just as well fitting new parts.

the truth about electric cars
'supposedly' there are right wing MP,s trying to make sure that new petrol and diesel vehicles do not stop getting sold in the UK in 2030. Supposedly there is reasons for them taking that stance. That if about the vehicles in the UK on UK roads or being taken out of the UK on journeys. Light and heavy good vehicles and trains, boats and planes are a whole different matter. The globe is a very big thing. Outside your home is very much about your location in the UK. Outside or inside their home is for lots of people are what affects them.

the truth about electric cars
Just now using the 3 pin charger at home is costing me 30 pence a kWh, that is 30 kWh for £9. At the chargers i use most on a trip it is 35 pence a kWh, £10.50. My local council chargers are 42 pence a kWh, £12,60. If getting 3.5 miles per kWh then x 30 that is 105 miles. With petrol at £6.30 a gallon then the Clio e-Tech is cheaper to run than charging @ 42 pence a kWh. Even if getting 4 miles per kWh that is 120 miles for £12.60 and around the same as running the Clio. Rishi Sunak was in Aberdeenshire yesterday where the Council chargers are 47 pence a kWh for Rapid (50kW) and where if you have to use the public chargers then running an ICE makes more financial sense for private individuals. Not for Business users though. Also the charging infrastructure is total crap up in Aberdeenshire & in Aberdeen.

VRS springs on a 1.9 tdi ?

Fuel rail removal
I would tell VOSA though, as should everyone else that has had this issue which is certainly 'Safety Critical' and should have had Skoda / VW taking action about with a Voluntary Recall as a minimum, but as time goes past it should be a RECALL with VOSA / DVLA providing Registered Keepers details to VW UK.

How do you set the "Speed Limit warning" ?
@baxlobsI know the Karoq is quite different but the same as in there are 2 different Speed Warnings available to set.

Fuel rail removal
@SkinnerooWho are you telling, Skoda CZ who know about the issue, or Skoda / VW UK that could not care less? http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/468348-fuel-rail-leak/page/10

VRS springs on a 1.9 tdi ?
OEM Mk2 Fabia vRS springs are not great and not worth paying the price to buy new ones IMO. @Carlstonmight be able to give you the info on alternative springs. Info from @Carlstonalready here. @Cruciancan maybe tell you the part number of the springs he bought. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/515215-hmm-front-suspension-choice

How do you set the "Speed Limit warning" ?
'Winter Tyre' alarm speed setting is available in addition to the 'speed warning' that you can set. So that is 2 speed warnings available to you. This is not on a Karoq but that does not matter as all models get 2 settings available.
