  1. Shell Recharge, Instavolt and others that have invested in installing public chargers really are pith taking with tariffs. They are there for those desperate or with loads of money or employers that have. £7.50 - £7.90 and even more for 10 kWh of a charge that might take you 40 miles or so is expensive motoring. Maybe more to do with the UK Government than with the Corporations. The 41 pence a kWh charge at local chargers to me certainly has many that regularly used them and hogged them for hours when they were 23 pence a kWh no longer using them or not regularly. Fair charging for electricity and for the facility to charge and fair VAT / Taxation is what will be needed for many more private individuals to go EV. The Business / Commercial users are being helped a fair bit already, probably correctly for many business,s that need to move to EV light commercials or drivers of cars actually required to drive for the business and not just commute to the work place and park up and then back home with Tax breaks.
  2. It is not STANDARD as there are Skoda , VW, SEAT, Audi Approved used cars that are over 3 years old and not had Brake Fluid Changes. Even ones that had 3 or 4 years SERVICE PLANS. Fleets cars etc. So is it a Scheduled item, a Recommendation, a Guideline or a Specification? The Brake Fluid can be checked / tested for H20 content. No many Dealerships do that, some might, some might if asked to.
  3. Brake Fluid changes @ 3 years and then each 2, or even at each 2 years as shows now for some models has never been parts of a Standard Service, what ever that is. Minor / Interim & Major, or Major and Major, or even some Service Plans. Or Oil & Inspection Services or Extended Scope.
  4. Chris Stark CEO of the 'Climate change committee is on the media /press with more home truths on the UK and the government. Many might think the Climate change committee' is a government committee / organisation. Well it is kind of. How much did the change of name from 'Committee of climate change' to 'Climate change committee' cost, just in IT, Printing, signage and maybe HR / Wages cost. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Climate_Change_Committee Lord Deben (John Selwyn Gummer) is speaking out while anyone listens to him. (He who feed his 4 year old daughter beef burgers. mad cow, well not her.) http://theengineer.co.uk/content/news/uk-has-lost-climate-leadership-ccc-report He needs watching IMO. Snouter first class. http://davidturver.substack.com/p/lords-caught-with-snouts-in-netzero-trough Anyway, They are not fooled by Hybrids and neither should the UK Governments be.
  5. The fuel cut out switch activated when there was an impact.
  6. @Carlstonmight be that person.
  7. Basic stuff. Probably involves Inspection and servicing and maintenance. Get on the ground at the back left wheel as someone gets in the car and listen to the creak and figure out if the suspension. Then you or someone else will need to get the wheel off or car on a ramp and then get eyes and ears involved in trying to find the source of the noise.
  8. Is this a newer car than the 68 plate or the same car? Due a brake fluid change now maybe, that not likely to be the issue. iI might benefit from a change of brake pads, or is your car one with rear drum brakes? Striping and cleaning / servicing the brakes might be all that is needed.
  9. @automassYour car does not have Valve Sensors on the wheels if your car is standard. So cheap after market TPMS parts are not relevant to you. The wheel sensor discussed before is part of the cars ABS system. Get them local, at a Motor Factor or get the mechanic to if needed and pay the going price local so that if the part is duff you get a refund. IMO. *A TAXI is a business, maybe use a good mechanic and parts for you and others safety.* ............. Just to show what you do not have already or want to buy.
  10. Good. But @J.R.post to do it while driving and you 'liked' that.
  11. You set it after setting your pressures and while stationary. Not while driving. Then once driving the system sets it,s self. *If the Owners manual you read tells you to do it some other way then do as it says.*
  12. & some removed the casing for the Supercharger to hear more noise. So look see if that has been done. Likely never replaced on the cars that did get this done. 2011 & the cars came out in 2010. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/207866-super-sound-deadening http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/216262-vrs-supercharger-noise ? Has the car had a replacement waterpump & 2 belts in the past 12 year? PS Those that have actually driven or owned Twinchargers might well have changed their usual fuel and then had an Exhaust Control Light or EPC light or both come up. Often that just happens to be because a spark plug was about to give up anyway. Not all E5 in the UK is the same, not even from the same Brands. But it is booting the car and having turbo & supercharger boosting below 3,500 rpm that you get a warning to check stuff and take it easy til you find the issue, or stick with your regular 97 or 99 ron min petrol. Maybe that BP 97 had too much Detergents, or even their filling station tank was filled in error with 95 ron, as happended to me at a Sainsbury in Aberdeen years back. (I had a switchable map from APR luckily to get home with, but still had a brown trouser moment in an outside lane climbing a hill out of Aberdeen with someone right up my jacksy when it went into limp mode.) Same thing when staying in Preston on the way to Santa Pod and filling up at Tesco Blackpool with Momentum 99 the night before heading south and the next morning the car running sh!te. (I had been running tanks of it no problem in the north and on the way south other than when using 102 ron for special occasion.) Luckily i had Hiperflo 250 (102 ron) in cans in the boot and put that into the tank. BS on the faster with Super Charger cover off on this CTHE that ran crap with the Tuning Box. BS on the price as well. How not to throw money at them with trial and error and lots of error. He could not get the APR dealer to remap it at the time even with the ECU removed and opened.
  13. Sorry no idea but hopefully someone that might know might happen along. Maybe @Crasher or @ApertureS EDIT>>> What is the DSG, is it a DQ200? Is this a new MCU, or refurbished or a used one?
  14. What a wonderful EV world if a 100 kW chargers charges a 100 kWh battery car from 0-80 % in 37 minutes, so that is 80 kWh into the battery. Even better that a 7.4 kW AC charger can get 100 kWh in over just 10 hours and 16 minutes. ....... A Tesla Model S 100D or a Model X 100D seemingly shows where i looked as requiring 13 hours and 31 minutes to charge from zero to full using a typical 7kW home charger. (95 kW usable battery.) & on a CCS capable of 145 kW can deliver 20-80% in around 41 minutes.
  15. @SkodiasGood. Could you say what engine your car has please for anyone looking at this thread in the future?
  16. Eventually a RECALL letter has arrived from Vauxhall. Months after the issue has been known. The car had the Non Starting issue which was unrelated seemingly but while it was at the Vauxhall main dealer for repair they never carried out this recall action. Car due into the dealership on 10th July for the MOT & this recall action. ARNOLD CLARK Scotland still has no Automatic gearbox Courtesy cars so are supposedly arranging for Motability to provide a Hire car which is RAC that actually arrange it. So back to this fiasco, and waiting to see how it pans out and if arrangements go smoothly. So ARNOLD CLARK SCOTLAND has no EV,s available for customers with EV,s going in for work, this includes those with lease cars from MOTABILITY. Not even ICE Automatics. What a hopeless set up. All the stuff on going ELECTRIC, trained staff and no doubt lots of public money goes their way in the promotion of EV,s and their Innovation Centre in Glasgow. Genius. All about the experience. Try before you buy, and then if your car needs to be in for repair or work you might need to walk, cycle, use public transport or get a manual courtesy car because EV is the future & the infrastructure as Arnold Clark are involved is about Sales and not After sales. A good question might be. Do ARNOLD CLARK have EV,s as Courtesy cars if i get an EV from you but i need a Courtesy Car anytime? Or even a PHEV and need an Automatic.
  17. Can you even get a Mk4 1.0 TSI 110 ps DSG in Ireland just now to compare the price in Euro in your nearest EU country that requires importing from main land Europe to a import to a non EU country not on main land Europe?
  18. (EDIT. When the 'Low oil level' light or message are working correctly and there is a low oil level, if you open the bonnet and even do nothing the light / message goes out for 62 miles / 100 km. Which is just stupid really, but that is how the system is.) ? Is the oil level fine when checked stone cold sitting on the flat, as in area A on the Dip stick. The oil level check is at Normal Operating temperature parked on the flat after a few minutes. So oil up above an indicated 80*oC, to 90 *oC and then dipped. What engine has the car, how many miles done and has it had an oil change yet? Is it a car leased from Motability? http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/463124-dipstick-question http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/502151-check-oil-level-warning http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/463124-dipstick-question http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/499390-oil-level-too-high-warning-karoq-15-tsi PS From your other 2 posts your local Dealership seems to be a busy place. Must be all the Warranty jobs they have to get done, eventually.
  19. Welcome. Maybe some help here from the Mk3 Fabia section. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/432269-air-filter http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/478632-air-filter-change

  21. @mydadscarI understood perfectly. I was joshing. You misunderstood your MP maybe. Who was or is that MP? Is it the Rachel Maskell MP Labour? The Government did do something, they got £1 million or so off of VW towards testing cars coming into the UK, and then they failed to come up with the further £1/2 million or so. The Transport Committee had in Paul Willis CEO of VW UK and some said he lied. http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/business/volkswagens-boss-accused-telling-blatant-9858620 The Transport Minister at the time was made a Lord and the Chairman of the Conservative & Unionist party. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patrick_McLoughlin http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/434714-emmisions-fix-and-rip-off-britain/page/6 http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/440141-credit-where-its-due
  22. Nuclear, wind and wave electricity generation built near to where it is going to be used by the most is what is needed. Then the charging for all those that really do not have 'Home Chargers' off road parking, that is real world not some strange statistics that the various organisations come up with for the 4 countries of the UK. EV,s really do not work perfectly well for many who have winter conditions more often / longer and colder than you might experience and where there is no local public transport. Hence people not wanting them, and that includes Nurses, carers, social workers and many that need to get a days work in and are not getting big battery cars. Zoe, Leaf, Niro, Mini, Corsa, 208, ect etc that are fleet vehicles that the workers actually get provided with. Then there are the trades people who actually do not work from home but drive vehicles and carry stuff and people. . The order books are full. Those that need these and can afford them, and then there will no doubt be those that can afford them and not need them.
  23. Actually lots of people have not loads of money to go buy an EV that might not well do the job like being able to tow. Certainly there are more with electricity available more than there appears to be in your area where there had to be payments made to have people use less. We are talking Council. taxis, commercials, heavy vehicles as well as private vehicles.. There is electricity in homes, in business,s and all over the place. So much so that Scotland exports it to England. But there needs to be an energy mix to reduce emissions.
  24. @wyx087Who buys and leases cars or vehicles that run on hydrogen might well be local authorities where they have filling station in their towns or cities and 400 mile range is just fine. No need to travel 80 miles to fill up, that would be ridiculous. Or not that different from areas in the UK where people do actually need to travel 40 miles to get to a filling station and 40 miles home. Likely not something that one might experience in London. http://aberdeencity.gov.uk/net-zero-aberdeen/h2-aberdeen-hydrogen-here/projects-h2-aberdeen http://greenfleet.net/features/25112016/fife-councils-hydrogen-plans http://aberdeencity.gov.uk/news/aberdeen-city-council-adds-uks-first-hydrogen-fuel-cell-waste-truck-fleet
  25. Sounds good. Surely there are no Mk4,s that come to the UK with rear drums and discs are an option. They must be desperate to get ones into the UK and first registered. EDIT. Sorry, £100. Rear discs. Well back to the future. (On EV,s were the disc brakes rust badly drums are simply clever, on Fabias drums a PITA when it comes to servicing.)
