  1. Fortunately for those that want to buy used ones, pre-loved, or abused and neglected & Ex demonstrators / management cars there are people that get new ones.
  2. @bigman1976 Maybe relevant. Was the Haldex serviced properly @ 3 years / 30,000 miles or sooner and not just the oil changed?
  3. 6 Speed wet clutch DSG were not fitted to Mk2 Fabia by Skoda. (DQ250 that was not used but @thomasaspinfitted has the same oil for the box and MCU @ the 40,000 mile service interval. The other auto boxes used were Tiptronics. Skoda / VW had no service interval showing for them for years and eventually there were 'suggestions' that changing the ATF fluid @ 100,000 miles might be 'Simply Clever'.
  4. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/315115-service-campaign-dq200-dsg-oil-changeecu-update-fabia-in-uk That was / is 7 speed twin dry clutch DSG,s & in other world areas they gave them a 10 year / 100,000 miles. Actually the world wide recall of more than 2.6 million in total in 2012/13 on DQ200,s 2009-2012 excluded Europe. (They even lied then on how many involved.) That was / is a Service Campaign '34F7' started in 2014 to change the Synthetic Oil to Mineral & a Software update. (Supposedly Climate Conditions, and NZ got new MCU,s in the few hundred cars they had to do.) Funny that it turned out that the sulphur build up & the internal corrosion could be just the same in Scotland.) Then there was 2013-2015 and a software update needed, started in 2017, and restarted in Australia 2018, recalling some already done and those missed. There is the issues as the 1.5TSI ACT's were introduced and not just their software had issues so did the DQ200's because of the manipulation to get WLTP / RDE results.
  5. @marineboylikely because your car slipped through their scheme of changing cars from Variable / Flexible servicing so first @ 24 months / 18,000-20,000 miles to Fixed Annual Servicing @ 371 days / 9,400 miles without asking the person buying the car. So if you want a Fixed Service Interval have that, but your car will be as it left the factory without greedy barstewards having been at their cappers.
  6. 'Must try harder' http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/512539-electric-drive-error
  7. @lol-lolYes, thankfully there are those just charging and getting moving. There are customers complaining on ZapMap & PlugShare that they are paying 70 pence a kWh and getting slow speeds. I got 100 kW starting from 40 % and it stayed fast to 85%. I was happy, and the times i have been there this week @ Starbucks & not charging there has only been the odd car coming in past and charging. Lots of EV drivers pulling in for coffee top ups but not charging. But then the Oil & Gas businesses very near have chargers for employees and visitors. PS My pal was annoyed that i might put them on social media and people might sus they are there, local facilities for local people, is their thinking. As i pointed out they are Aberdonians and might drive Porsche, Tesla, Audi, Mercs & Jags but they have long pockets and short arms.
  8. @Skodias Welcome. What engine has your car? Pity you had not found out about DQ200,s before doing your oil change. Pinned thread at top of section. So if a 2010 DQ200 DSG here was a Service Campaign started to change the oil from Synthetic to mineral and a software update. If done there should be a sticker in the spare tyre well with '34F7' on it. On ones 2009-2012 built before September. (So it might well have been changed.) http://skoda-auto.com/services/recall-actions Otherwise there is no Oil Changes @ 40,000 miles and there are 2 oils, in the box and in the MCU. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/315115-service-campaign-dq200-dsg-oil-changeecu-update-fabia-in-uk
  9. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/511166-how-uncommon-a-sight-is-a-skoda-scala Deja vu. @fossman 'How many left show' it as around 10,000 registered in the UK as of last year. Not that poor for 3 years of sales. It has been car salespeople not that much interested in pushing them, and maybe that was to do with Skoda UK not being, But, when What Car / Autocar which is HayMarket Media get behind them you know there is a sales push coming. They are a mouth piece for VW UK. They even make some cars from Skoda like the Mk3 Fabia 'Car of the year' before they actually get launched and arrive in the UK and they have only driven left hand drive ones. But then Haymarket Media Group as well as being publishers do Launches for VW Group & VW Group do use them for advertising. (They are also not that quick in ever pulling up VW Group on cars with faults or failures & issues like Software, DSG,s or the likes.) ................ Part of Lord Michael Heseltine's Empire. He who helped in the sale of Bentley to VW Group. Funny to have testing facilities and business and to not have seen the defeat device issue before late 2015 when it had been getting flagged for years, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haymarket_Media_Group http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Heseltine http://bbc.co.uk/news/business-27245995 ........... Then Heycar own 'Honest John' & VW own Heycar and Daimler bought 20% of it. Good when they praise or report on good cars and good value cars, and even better if they bring to the potential buyers and issues when there are any. There might not be with the Scala, but there are among other models on sale now or away to be updated and not resolved for those already owning them.
  10. @Labman20It was from 2012/13 that they stopped getting put into new Skoda in the UK. Plenty buy them on ebay, and stamps and make a false service history, as has been the case for many a year.
  11. It is in the UK that Sales / First Registrations are low, but Skoda / VW UK will need to get more First Registered ramped up to help the Average Fleet Emissions in the UK.
  12. @Paws4Thot Head for thinking, feet for dancing. So where the proposed Battery Factory is they might use Electric HGV,s to take the materials to the factory & the end product from there maybe to the port or a rail head, but surely not by road with Diesel or could it be hydrogen ones. Pigs might fly! Just because they are desperate to use a site near Arbroath Road, Claypotts / Broughty Ferry, Douglas & Whitfield because it is available does not mean it is the right location. That land at Dundee Docks might be Forth Ports land or other land owners of the other industrial sites dock side. Where the gas works and meters that, that was Briggs, or next to the land rented for the next several years the Inch Cape Windfarm Turbines are being transported to and fabrication down for going out to sea. http://bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-tayside-central-62713869 The Eden Project Dundee (Vanity project) is proposed to go a miles along from the V&A Dundee. They want the land from who ever owns it. So that is someones land now. Industrial land for a few hundred years with a railway line & main road making the boundary. The road & railway is not moving or the rest of the ground between the site and the Tay needing repurposed. Forth Ports Leith is where Renewables are going, This is Forth Ports that have Dundee Waterfront. http://edenproject.com/new-edens/eden-project-dundee-uk Port of Dundee. Port of Leith. (Edinburgh.)
  13. 'If a common fault' it is a Design, Manufacturing / Material fault. @KnodtyWas it a Dealership Technician or Master Tech that told you it was common? It is them that should know. Skoda UK's Customer Services contractor might well talk about the supplying dealer and good will gestures. It is Skoda UK's actual Executive Officers that you need to get into the discussions because the number of DQ381,s with MCU failures is an issue, and issue for Skoda / VW Group.
  14. Those behind the proposed Dundee Battery factory have their begging bowl out. The way the SNP give to hopeless cases & failed ventures is ridiculous and i hope this gets no public money. Simply because in the wrong place not near the port and a rail line. Dundee is OK, just not where they want it, put it at the Docks where they want the Dundee Eden Project built. Their planned location of the Ex Michelin Factory where SWARCO / Charge Place Scotland are based & now right in the middle of houses and shops & other business and the wrong place for more HGV movements. http://bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-scotland-business-65915038 http://news.stv.tv/north/dundee-battery-gigafactory-plans-uncertain-as-company-behind-plant-seeks-urgent-cash http://scottishconstructionnow.com/articles/in-pictures-ps475m-dundee-innovation-hub-tops-out From 3 years ago.
  15. @fm7The Haldex Service is due @ each 3 years / 30,000 miles or sooner. Unless it is a DQ381 DSG with the service @ 80,000 miles or sooner it will be @ 40,000 miles. Someone will know if it is a DQ500 DSG you have.
  16. Yes. & i knew what your engine was from the title, but it did seem that @silver1011was talking about a different engine altogether. Is the other servicing up to date like the Haldex Serviced twice now? Has the DSG been serviced, & the fuel filter replaced?
  17. Welcome to the forum. Which country are you in? Who was it at your car dealer that was just giving you a line, was it a mechanic / technician? You best go to see another Dealership or Main Dealership if they were not a Skoda garage or even if they were.
  18. @silver1011is that a cam belt you are having changed on a 1.4 TSI ACT at that price?
  19. What Remap was applied, who's or by who. Pity that was done before the car was running correctly. Surprising those doing the mapping did not want an efficiently running engine before doing it. Is the mapping for running on Super Unleaded 97 or 99 octane? In winter as in Late October till end March your E5 or even E10 was winter formulation in the UK and not as you are running now.
  20. There are plenty Independents & Service Centres that can do them & know about 1.0 TSI VW Group engines, no need for Computerised timing set up or a big deal. But they do need to know the job. They might have OE parts or others in the price difference. Main Dealers technicians or fitters have been messing up the job. Service Desk staff often do not know the difference with a 1.0 TSI from a 1.2 or 1.4 or 1.4 TSI ACT or a 1.5 TSI or 1.5 TSI ACT. You have 2 years parts and labour warranty with Main Dealers. https://www.pscautocentre.co.uk/products/audi-timing-belt-water-pump-replacement-petrol-engines-mqb-platform
  21. @Chic Welcome. Is that on a Mk3 1.0 TSI Fabia? More expensive than the Fabia Mk2 / Euro 5 engines. A cam belt that needs done by someone with the gear and more than ideas. There are those that have already had issues with people not doing 1.0 TSI,s correctly. Check the Mk3 section. one thread, there are others. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/511272-engine-vibration-after-cambelt-change-10-tsi-110-3-cylinder-dsg-2018-fabia-mk3 Not as involved as the 1.4 TSI ACT or a 1.5 TSI ACT that people are paying in the region of £800-£1,000 to have done & even being quoted higher than that. Just the not expensive locking tools required with 1.0tsi,s & lots less labour than with a 1.5 TSI ACT.
  22. Many early adopters are disabled people getting cars on lease from Motability and chargers installed and for £10 a day they have their transport and home or public charging. Plenty middle class or any class have homes with no off road parking but maybe a 'Parking Permit' for on street parking and still can not get parked near their home. eg Aberdeen and many many other places. Aberdeen's public charging is pathetic. It really is pointless the discussion on how easy or cheap it is for home charging & off street parking and charging because if so then good. That is not more than 1/2 of the UK's car drivers or trades people / commercial drivers though. It is those that are not those with home charging and off street parking / charging or nearby public charging or ease of charging while travelling that require solutions & infrastructure. And not just Motorway / Trunk route travellers / drivers.
  23. First and foremost is that people trying to understand EV,s or discuss them is that FAST Charging is pretty slow just quicker than SLOW charging, as in 7 kw or maybe 11 kw AC chargers. Rapid charging is still not that Fast or Rapid if 22- 43 AC or 50 kW DC. The Park & Rides and car park full of 'destination' which is slow chargers need built and well as with Rapid & Ultra Rapid and with Public Transport right there but also toilets. No point millions spent on Solar Canopies, Battery Storage & Charger and just a Bus Ticket office with 2 toilets which is closed. eg Stirling Park & Ride.
  24. No. In countries where people want reliability & actual proper emission figures and fuel consumption & the World Wide Light Vehicle Harmonised test kidology does not concern them there are still 1.4 TSI's with 8 speed Automatics with Torque Converters. But the issue is just VW just has not developed efficient low emission engines without using electrification in the way of mild hybrid or PHEV that will get the WLTP figures for Euto 7. Other manufacturers will.
  25. Exactly what more of are needed in Scotland. On the A96 at Blackburn just north of Aberdeen Airport. Next to a Starbucks & a Fish & Chips place. 2 100-350 kW Chargers, 70 pence a kWh. There are CPS chargers in Inverurie & Oldmeldrum but busy or out of order ones They are 47 pence a kWh but that hardly matters if you can not get a charge. & there are train stations, super markets, Farm Shops & Activity centres with 7kW charger.
