  1. Welcome. There are a couple of threads asking much the same in the last couple of weeks, worth looking down the pages. So not much servicing showing there, Oil & Inspection Service. These says since 2020 they went to that and Extended Scope @ 3 years then each 2. So what actually has it had, New Spark plugs, Air Filter, Brake fluid replaced, Pollen filter, any record of that? If not assume not carried out as extras.
  2. I hope they had a look see at the Air Filter. Maybe you should, that is more likely to need replacing. The VW / Skoda recommendations, guidelines, specification or even schedule is Spark plugs at 4 years or 40,000 miles and has been for years. That used to be @ the 2nd Major Service. Too soon for many cars, too long for some like 1.4 TSI Twinchargers that could have one plug ready to burn a tip off at under 20,000 miles. Personally if i had a 1.5TSI ACT i would want to know how the plugs look at 4 years, but 20,000 miles is a bit low mileage wise. You have a very expensive Cam Belt change next year if you have that done at 5 years old. I would find a good VW Specialist Independent and not get ripped off with Main Dealer Servicing @ Maintenance.
  3. EU Legislation made ESP (ESC) compulsory in 2014. Most manufacturers had it as standard for years before that yet Skoda still had it as an optional extra with some Mk2 Fabia right up to them being discontinued. VW Group / Skoda have many things fitted to cars that require paying to have operational. Stuff that is there and part of a vehicle you own and can enable if you know how to or know a man or woman that can.
  4. What the summer brings since around April is it is now Summer Formulation E10 & E5 until late October in Scotland and RoUK. No point skimping, but daft overpaying. Might as well get Sainsbury's 97 ron (min) or Tesco Momentum 99 (99 ron min) BP Ultimate 97 ron is nothing special. See the post yesterday by @Jim H& the video. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/501243-e10-petrol-ahhh
  5. This is quite a tariff for Shetland where so much electricity can be generated by renewables generation. Someone at the Councils department for press releases or media are out of date over Charge Place Scotland. There is not a £20 annual membership fee. That was dropped. There is an option of buying a card for £10 and it has been so for near 2 years.
  6. The Fire Hazard were the 'Engine Cover' on some 2.0 TSI across VW Group vehicles. Where are there reports of Under Bonnet mats as a fire hazard? http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/504550-kodiaq-vrs-tsi-engine-cover Until someone gives you the part number maybe check on 'autodoc'.
  7. Engine covers of some 2.0TSI were removed because a Safety Recall was started and now those that had their cover removed by dealerships should be getting new ones. 'Fire risk'. Insulation / sound deadening on the underside of the bonnet of TDI's was not removed or deleted because of 'fire risk;.
  8. It is professional car thieves day / might job. They are up on tech & not just dafties. But you are as well to try and stop the amateurs with what ever. Might as well be a steering lock. You just walk up to vehicle look in and you read the VIN through the windscreen.
  9. I know nothing about manuals, but i read this where there are posts in English. (They do at least have Manual Hillhold, a foot brake and a manual parking / hand brake.) http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/479683-hill-hold-activation
  10. They are just like Arnold Clark when Sir Arnold was alive and since he passed on. Turn loads and loads of them around and if lots are crap then no matter people keep buying and putting up with their nonsense. Some even come back for 2nds and 3rds. They can not be that bad if they sponsor snooker and charities and much else.
  11. Needs a DQ250 6 speed wet clutch DSG though.
  12. Maybe of interest to those with remaps and using 97 min or 99 min E5 in the UK from the various petrol retailers with E5..
  13. It would of been good if he just said the date he collected the fuels, hardly that hard, he just needed to say. It is quite important when he did the tests and got the E10 from filling stations because from in the UK from late October to November Winter Formulation was delivered until the end March and even later sometimes. So less Hygroscopic so possibly less Bio Ethanol was in it, and then around the UK it can vary. But he does say that kind of. Maybe he actually knows more but just kept it simple for the reason that KISS works for many. As is the case with E5 in the UK, Summer & Winter formulation and even in summer the Bio content car vary.
  14. Welcome. It was right with Audi RS3's where it was an option you could get from Audi. As it is with your car it is what it is. Put them to the rear if you want. Not just staggered as in wider are they, they are a different circumference / total diameter.
  15. Nothing needs adjusted if you fit 15" wheels with the correct offset and tyres of the correct size and those could be the ones Skoda show as suitable for your car if fitting Snow Chains. Even if not fitting snow chains or going to a country where they need carried and fitted when required. Just let you insurance company know you have fitted wheels that were not as it left the factory with. PS Suitable wheels and tyres are often advertised in BRISKODA For Sales section & might well be offered before this winter. PPS There are ones for a Mk2 Fabia advertised just now and they just need a tidy up of the wheels and maybe wheel trims fitted. Much Cheapness.
  16. They would be ripping you right off if it was to cost that. Is that for them to replace with a new or refurbished MCU?
  17. Welcome to the forum. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/489137-can-you-put-steel-15-inch-rims-with-185-60-tyres-on-a-fabia-with-16-inch-rims-214-45 http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/441206-fabia-mk3-estate-with-15-inch-decent-td-alloys http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/491076-15-or-16-inch-wheels-for-rude-comfort
  18. It is not a DQ381 7 speed wet clutch DSG though on the 1.5 TSI ACT FWD Octavia. it is a DQ200 DSG.
  19. There will be those along that can help with those codes, @varooom@Crasher@ApertureSor A.N.Other. ? Is it recovered to a main dealers? Was it the AA person that mentioned hundreds? & what does the master tech say @ a main dealership / authorised repairer say, does he / she say it needs a new MCU, are they saying an issue they will support you with in getting Skoda / VW involved to inspect your car. Accuator repair kit, new MCU or whatever.
  20. Yours is a DQ200 so that is the relevant DSG. Issues with DQ381,s that are becoming more common are not relevant. Are they quoting you a few hundred £ just to diagnose the fault with the MCU / Mechatronic Control Unit? No servicing of the gearbox was done as none required. Plenty known issues, 2009-2012, 2013-2015, then 2015 til about 2018. Fitted to 1.0, 1.2. 1.4, 1.8 TSI's and 1.6 TDI,s. Issues with any fitted to 1.5TSI's after 4 or 5 years will only start coming in from about now. There have been some posted on social media / forums etc already. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/512342-7-speed-dsg-clutchcost http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/501404-automatic-gearbox-issues http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/475102-dq200-dsg7-mechatronic-tear-dow-and-repair-and-change-in-body http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/511671-skoda-octavia-hatchback-15-tsi-se-l-5dr-dsg http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/507580-dsg-7-dry Faults, not the screeching though.
  21. I was alluding to the Water Pump not being due replacement when the Cam Belt is with your car, and really asking if your Cam belt was getting changed and what the Guidelines, Recommendations, Schedule / Spec is in Australia for that. Dusty or non dusty regions. It is a crazy 5 years in the UK according to Skoda / VW Group Dealership employees.
  22. @Anu123Has the car any record of when the spark plugs were replaced or have you changed them? Is the Air filter kept clean and not clogged? Do you run it on 0w 30 FS III oil or 5w 30 FS III so VW504 00 spec? The 0w 30 FS III might be worth using.
  23. The plonker in the Non plug-in Renault Capture will not have known that the 2 7kW sockets for the public to charge were not working as the lights and app showed they were available. I spoke with someone from the NHS in the hospital about their car sitting all the time in their 4 bays to the left plugged in all the time & it is because if they are not occupying them the public in ICE vehicles just park in their bays. This is why even their cars then get parked using the end CPS charger for hours even if not charging. Who is to blame. idiots, & the Government. Actually NHS Estates in Scotland i would say, they £60 plus million was going to someone for going electric & efficient energy use. They should be there with Solar, Wind and Bio mass.
  24. Try the touch test. Does it feel like grease? Snif test. Not the taste test. Rusty water type discharge or grease type. Later most likely.
  25. @peter51the service manager is highly unlikely to be a mechanic, technician or even a fitter. Best ask to talk to one of those if you are concerned. Australia certainly does have VW,s and others fully crapping then selves with Recalls and Recall actions because of many issues in the past. I find it hard to believe dealerships do not get Technical Product Information. OT, but a separate issue as no water pump replacement required at the time, but when are you having the Cam Belt and tensioners replaced. May ask the same parts person how many of those they supply.
