Possible clutch issue
@Aakayamysorry but i am really confused with you being in the business of taxis / private hire. ? Do you not have a trusted mechanic / garage you use, or anyplace other drivers car recommend. It is not as though there are not many Skoda Taxis in and around Glasgow. If those that drove your cars were technicians did neither of them suggest as well as plugging in and checking the car, they could do a DSG reset?

Roomster 2011 1.2tsi 86hp
Skoda / VW UK service interval is 4 years / 40,000 miles. That does not mean they need replacing then, but if they do they do, and yours might. Armoured lead threads and mis-firing TSI treads are common on here. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/495806-ht-lead-skoda-fabia Run the car in the dark and open the bonnet and see if there is a 'light show'.

Roomster 2011 1.2tsi 86hp
Welcome. So when were the spark plugs last changed or checked. Most likely them. Spark plugs expiring can shorten the life of coils, so best get the plugs out and new in. There is the issue of old with plug 3's lead. So has the car got an armoured lead?

Diff upgrade/retrofit
Welcome. Use a search for 'Quaife ATB LSD differential Skoda Octavia vRS 2.0' Also on here there are threads. Ask those you are going to for your remapping who they recommend for fitting the diff. See this project and the LSD, and it is a Fabia with a DQ250 DSG. Kevlar Clutch packs. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/478545-fabia-mk2-vrs-the-red-baron/page/3

Spark plug electrode gap for Fabia 2 1.2 HTP 70 (engine BZG)
It is just so simple with new plugs to check all 3 or 4 are correctly gaped. Yes they have a cardboard or plastic cover. Yet even those can have been looked at at a factors or a sellers and the cover off, dropped on the counter by professionals and non professionals. Too often when a car is misfiring and it is suggested that the gap is checked that the person has no idea even if they fitted them. They might get knocked before they ever get threaded and into the plug hole but then that has always been the case, plenty handless techs, mechanics or DIY,ers about. Lots of issues with cars are those servicing them ignoring things that as apprentices they were taught was the basics, or maybe they are never actually taught much because seemingly someone else can be trusted to have done something.

Skoda announce six new EVs by 2026
Skoda Dealership Servicing seems to be a bit expensive. Plenty opportunity for Independent EV Specialist, even VW Group EV Specialists. It is great to get a lower cost and lower powered EV and the ability to run them cheaply, but getting ripped off with servicing of cars that might have low annual mileages will be an issue for some. Others might just be happy with the Manufacturers Approved Workshops with fully Trained & Qualified techs changing the pollen filter, checking tyres and doing any hardware or software updates. Fixing snagging faults outstanding etc. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/512926-enyaq-servicing-cost http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/504481-servicing-intervals

MG5 EV Estate: The only production EV estate currently available to buy.
- Octavia holding resale price
There is an issue with Skoda Main Dealer Servicing and Maintenance and that is it is not cheap and certainly not that comprehensive. With Audi you do need to find out to compare but it can sometimes be competitive.- Skoda announce six new EVs by 2026
If Skoda can turn these out then how could they not be onto a winner. So whats the hold up other then not yet having the materials or the technology or much more than wishes and targets.- BYD Atto 3 - Short UK Test drive
Thank goodness drivers seldom see the outside of their vehicle when driving. Personally i am a fugly car person. When you have to plug in at the front of your car you get to know that end very well. I actually could not have lived with the 'Charger place' on the early MG's as bending would be an issue and my eye sight when it is dark is like anyone's but where a torch is needed and chargers that have no lighting and cars that do not help is just the likes of thing you get from designers / manufacturers, like no rear wipers, non heated windscreen washer bottles & wipers that get stuck under snow ice when conditions are of that sort. That brings me back to charger flaps that freeze shut. But then Skoda have had petrol / diesel filler flaps like that for decades and then were that stupid to put Ice Scraper in them.- Buying Advice
The problems are coming for some with petrols and GPF,s. But if VW Group are sensible with pricing of the part and the labour time is not much then just another addition cost to be priced into Green ICE vehicles. Like the more expensive oil and some that use more oil while supposedly using less fuel. Then there is the cost of the Low Rolling residence tyres when needing replacing. It will be interesting comparing the actual fuel and maintenance costs over 10 years with a petrol or diesel new in 2010 compared to a new 2020 TSI or TDI. Personally i think a New old stock 2010 car running for 10 years from now would work out less pence / euro per mile / km.- Buying Advice
The coolant is up to temp quick in a petrol or diesel the Oil can be a long time in a diesel & now VW are using VW508 00 / 509 00 so 0w 20 FS IV. You get small petrol N/A or Turbo engines, you get petrols with a GPF now and the oil might take a good few miles till showing 50*oC and get to 90 when cold but by 5 miles is getting OK efficiency. Even just running a mile each way from cold starts you might get 40 miles per gallon from them. If you can get 40 MPG from the TDI's doing 1 mile cold start journeys 40 times then fantastic. In the 44,000 miles my 2.0TDI SCR DSG did i know how crap it was on a cold start at around freezing going only 6 miles, then a cold start back in comparison to if going on for 15 miles and more and getting into the 40,s mpg, then 50,s and 60,s. Warm mid teens centigrade and the same 6 miles and a whole different thing economy wise. So we have Euro 5 diesels and euro 6 and euro 6d and Adblue and different ways they got the WLTP results / RDE2 results. How they manipulate the ECU software. Once the TDI had enough miles that it hardly sipped Adblue, had a 20,000 mile oil change it was regenning and drinking fuel like Oliver Reed, and started showing a blocked filter that took longer and longer to clear. If i was doing only maybe 4-5 miles a day for 5-7 days it was using 4.562 litres (a gallon for 25 miles or so.) Long runs, using coasting it really did 63-66 mpg. It had a 63 litre tank.- BYD Atto 3 - Short UK Test drive
@Colin170CRWas it in White, because it was a shame it was not a red one she saw first. They are the most efficient of them. Not Red Soul, Soul over Niro. Yesterday i should have taken a picture in the car park of a new Kona, a Kamiq and a Arona. All 3 were black and it was how small the Kona & the Kamiq looked that surprised me.- Enyaq servicing cost
@domhnallAre Skoda Dealership selling Pollen filter at the parts department for £15? Are they doing a brake fluid change @ the £299 service? With special olive oil anointed someplace & perfumed with jasmine, rose, seseme, cinnamon and orange blossom in a far flung country, or maybe that is just the special windscreen wash for the fan nozzles that comes from the tears of angels.- BYD Atto 3 - Short UK Test drive
The latest Soul does the job perfectly. A neighbour has one, it moves seldom but he loves it when he uses it. I drove an early one and liked it but that was when 90 miles with then was just a wish.- Vauxhall Corsa electric 2020 Fault (maybe faults) in first 6 weeks & various over the next 3 years.
I am just used to getting a move on when i can and there is nobody around and no chance points / fine and back into insurance getting loaded. In EV's i am happy to pick something going quick, locals, vans, coaches and stay far enough back, see their mirrors, get a tow and hypermile. Many EV drivers seem to not get it, they are up onto vehicles and then out in front doing the hard work. Breaking wind! As for no use of indicators or headlights and never off the brake pedal into corners / bends or just the car type putting brake lights on when using regen, that does my nut in.- Service
@Currymunstersorry if i offended you but i only have your best interest in mind. It is good to DIY and learn but sometimes maybe with someone else with you that has done it all before.- Outsider being convinced at last.
Did he buy a Skoda Yeti? I will ask on the comments for the Vid comments. Yeti had a cult following that never sold many 2 or AWD but people did buy more than one. Skoda are not getting an EV with the footprint of a Yeti with AWD are they or is that exactly what the 'Elroq' type thing is to be? Skoda might offer EV cars with All Weather /All Season tyres and publish WLTP regime tests showing the range with them. ? What exactly is the next to be available to order / buy Skoda EV that is not an Enyaq and why will Skoda not build and import more Citigo iV's to the UK until they do have something smaller to offer the buying public. The e-Up, Mii electric & Citigo iV are good cars & cult cars of the future and people do want to buy them and many more than bough Yeti's. PS The Roomster are a Cult Skoda, so a Roomster EV is 'Simply Clever' or what everyone might just need or want a Fabia Estate size EV. What is the hold up for Skoda, & this, do they really think things will be cheap to build and for us to build in a few years?- Service
@Currymunster Please take a step back and let someone with the gear and more than ideas or a manual do the job.- New car.
@kodiaqsportlineno anger on my part certainly not towards you. I make a special allowance for special people. I remember when you were posting under another name. Best not play ping pong or play about trying to pick up what others post, me or anyone. Remember your own posts.- Buying Advice
There are not many reports of 1.0 TSI with higher miles with the spark plug changes and oil and filters. We have yet to know more on 1.0TSI's with GPF,s that are doing short cold start trips lots like some have over the covid years. You only know how cars after 5 years when they have been on sale over 5 years. 1.0TSI with a DQ200 DSG are a pretty good, reliable engine, as were 1.2 & 1.4 TSI's.- New car.
@kodiaqsportlineyou do indeed. As you well know because i remember your past posts and comments and armchair expert comments and much the contradiction. The days of dealership fanboy stuff and VW group worshipping. It was only a matter of time and then that changed.- New car.
@kodiaqsportlineI am back peddling no place or caring about post counts. You just worry about what you post and question my posts if you like, but really get a grip and read what is posted and not as you want to make it sound. 9 million people in London do not have cars and neither do 5.3 million in Scotland and as to where you never like to let on where you live or drive, there are more than you and 2 others a dogs that change to suitable tyres. So Mr. Not Average Joe that is where we are.- New car.
@kodiaqsportline you get confused on purpose though.# Also when you want to tell others i do not have a Skoda. You post that you fit All Season / All Weather tyres. Location location location, weather, conditions. Many just need Summer / Eco tyres 300 and odd days a year and drive to the conditions. Some think they have a SUV / AWD and can go out play with the big rigs and boys and girls. Millions have a company / lease car or own a car and change the tyres when needed and fit just the same as the car came with new or used.- Dangerous tyre wear on inside shoulder
@J.R.With all due respect, if you look see at Fabia rear axles they can bend with someone putting a jack in the middle and lifting the car. EDIT. #memories. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/486539-rear-axle-alignment - Octavia holding resale price
