  1. @Whitie Nooo. Not first Oil Change @ 3 years. That was the Fixed Service & Maintenance in 2021 on 3-10 year old cars on Fixed Services. Until 2019 end it was Still Minor / interim or Major Services on Fixed / Annual Services, or Major services each 2 years. 2020 they cam up with the Oil & Inspection Services and then @ 3 years Extended Scope, then extended scope each 2 years. You pay for each extra you get gone instead of the Major Service scheme where they charged you a fixed price including VAT even when you never got an Air, Pollen, Fuel Filter, Spark plugs etc. Robbing barstewards.
  2. Actually Air Filter are a stupid 6 years and some are not simply checked at services. Fuel Filter @ 6 years. Haldex was @ 40,000 miles until VW brought it to 30,000 years, then 30,000 or 3 years and Skoda changed a year or 2 later and still do not have the Filter as an item for changing, cleaning etc. Skoda have recently changed some cars like the Fabias to first brake fluid change at 2 years which is what it was about 13 years ago before going to first @ 3 years then each 2. Other world regions / dusty ones are not @ 5 years or by almost no miles like 50,000 , 60,000 etc. VW still can not convert km to miles in many cases, and differ from Audi.

@DaveWKThe Engine Cover removal because of a Safety Issue was with 2.0 TSI engine covers, does your 1.5 TSI not even have the Revised Smaller Engine Cover? http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/511469-15tsi-rngine-cover
  4. Simples. It is not 'the belt / kit' that costs £1,000 it is that and 6 hours or more labour and VAT that you are paying for. Then the knowledge and equipment the person your paying the labour charge to. If you think you do not need to have it done then do not, or you could do it yourself if you have all the gear and more than an idea. If someplace is doing it for £550 than wunderba.
  5. There are big delays importing to the UK across the VW group brands right now and the delays are building. There is s a link in the forum for some of the other models. http://cardealermagazine.co.uk/publish/dealers-complain-new-vw-audi-and-porsche-cars-stuck-in-german-port-backlog/282757
  6. @Seasider the DSG you have is a 7 speed dry clutch so a DQ200. That means no servicing / oil changes required. They have 2 oils in them which is different from wet clutch ones were it is one oil in the box and in the MCU.

Easy to open the airbox and see the condition of the airfilter and if the Main Dealer Servicing is worth it and do they actually check stuff like the Air Filter if not scheduled for a change because of Main Dealer Servicing. Or as it should be known, lack of much done at services. ? Does an airfilter show on an invoice?
  8. Welcome. You will see lots of posts in the Octavia Mk3 section re Cambelt. Skoda UK / Main Dealers will say Cambelt & Water Pump at 5 years. Read the threads on the 'Tea Bag' in the coolant bottle and people removing that if they have a car with that. The Haldex service is at 3 years / 30,000 miles and needs done properly, not just an oil change. So due the 2nd service of it on a 2017 car. Brake fluid changed @ 3 years then each 2. So done at least once is really how it should show as. Fuel Filter @ 5 years. etc etc. Expect these sort of costs now. Cheaper maybe at an Independent.
  9. @Hilly81The Service history will make the difference when going for any Warranty Plan. If everything checks out for the 'All in plan' then you just be sure of the T&C's and if they might take your money but then knock back any claims because Servicing is not to the manufacturers specifications. Plenty Approved used Skoda have not been serviced to the Manufacturers Guidelines, Recommendations, Schedules or Specifications but they still warranty for 12 months or 24 months. that is a different kettle of fish though. They are simply clever and ignore their own T&C's.

Since the car has done 10,000 miles in 5 months and those were winter months servicing is due. Post winter, including brakes, maybe a brake fluid change if no record of the last change. Air filter inspected and cleaned or replaced, fuel filter replaced maybe, Oil & filter, Haldex serviced properly and maybe even the rear diff oil changed.
  11. @Hilly81Is it the just under 43,000 mile Octavia vRS you have bought. Is it Serviced to the Manufacturers Recommendations, Guidelines or even schedule so far. So not just Oil & Filter & pollen filter, spark plugs and brake fluid but also the VAQ Diff serviced? All documented?
  12. http://www.theguardian.com/money/2022/jul/13/why-didnt-skoda-make-its-fabia-warranty-terms-clear http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/430237-bonnet-paint-defect http://www.pvwi2010.co.uk/?LMCL=aRJC3d
  13. First off. The Warranty Terms do not mention 'Body Inspections, Annual, Bi-annual or Periodic. It used to over a decade ago when there were Service Books with a page after the Minor & Major Services with a Diagram. Before things went online. Main Dealer Services as shown on Skoda UK Websites show 'Body & Glass' Inspections as part of a service. As far as a Non Factory Specification repair or by a Non Approved Repairer, the 'Examination will measure and inspect the area' and see if a repaired area. *These inspection by an Independent Expert were arranged by a Warranty Manager in the past and still should be with a report going to Skoda / VW UK, no need for you to be inconvenienced as that can be carried out by them meeting you at the dealership or coming to your home or place of work.'* In the past people who were told they would have to pay for an inspection might call their bluff, commission the inspection and then charge Skoda for that, then Skoda started ignoring the Company they used usually if a owner got a report that Skoda / VW UK disagreed with.* Usually the person rejecting the report and no Training or Qualification on Body or Paint or Motor Vehicles, just a Resolution or Communications manager. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/456455-rust-around-fuel-filler-door/page/2 http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/512255-warranty-cleam-for-corrosion-rejected-by-skoda Skoda / VW UK know that at Services there are not Body Inspections being carried out in many of their Franchised Dealerships, but then they have not in the T&C's of the Body Corrosion Warranty stated that these are required. Part of the Fixed Price Servicing & Maintenance Menus since before 2010 though. SKODA_Warranty_Terms_November_2021 (2).pdf

In the UK it will mostly be Volkswagen buying new ones and leasing them for a couple or 3 years. If the demand is not there from the general public they will be buying even more and doing even better lease offers.
  16. The car comes from the factory with the Steering Assistance they have to suit the 205/40 R17's. You can reset to Disabled / more assistance, Sportier, different age vRS different option, numbers or name. Maybe in winter on winter tyres you want less assistance as well. Same with XDS setting, or brake assist. These things have been discussed often over the past 12 years, try the search function. eg http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/294303-vcds-steering-assist-polo-gti-setting http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/318138-vcds-steering-settings http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/227295-who-needs-a-lsd
  17. Is this a Mk2 Fabia vRS & on OE suspension? Wrong tyre size as a starter. I tried 18" off a Audi A1 Competition Sport. They were 225/35 R 18. 18 x 7.5J ET46 You would need to reduce the Steering Assist and drive very good roads. http://willtheyfit.com There are Mk2 Fabia on 18" threads. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/309782-18-wheels-on-fabia-ii http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/397377-18s-on-a-fabia-mk2 http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/425042-17-or-18-alloys-tyres-question-mk2-vrs http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/397376-18s-on-a-fabia-mk2
  18. Royal Dutch Shell import the Base fuel with Greenergy that produce Tescom Momentum 99 and some of the ESSO 99 in the UK and there might be the same additives and there might not be, personally i did not like Shell v-Power, Bore Wash is an issue with Twinchargers and you are not wanting the detergent in the Super Unleaded & in Long Life Oil. Momentum 99 is 99 Minimum and can be more like 100 or 100+ in parts of the UK.
  19. Running rich is OK with a CAVE Twincharger, soot on the tail pipes. Grey / white tail pipe ends are the ones that run like crap usually. The filling station tanks will be getting Summer Spec Petrol delivered again. Try a tank of Super Unleaded which is what is needed really, get the oil hot and give it a good run as long as you have no misfires and it might clean up the plugs, un-gum the rings and have you sorted. Any EPC or Engine light or both then dont boot it. This is not just GTI's / R's, it is your car / engine. http://volkswagen.co.uk/en/need-help/need-help-faqs/fuel.html Your fuel filler flap has the same as this. Super Unleaded, so Sainsbury 97 or 99 Tesco Momentum 99 maybe, ESSO.
  20. The DSG behaviour with the Twincharger is most likely to be the issue with the engine. It runs on the Supercharger to 2,800 rpm before combining with the Turbo charger then going to just turbo at 3,500 rpm.
  21. White smoke with a Twincharger is usually running lean / 95 unleaded. Black smoke when you boot a CAVE is often a nice clean out of the exhaust and it running rich for short journeys. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/314484-smoking-vrs
  22. @North97Are you already using 5w 40 FS oil VW 502 00 rather than 5w 30 FS III (Long Life) VW504 00 /507 00 Are you running it on Super unleaded E5 so 97 or 99 ron min rather than E10 95 unleaded. Best that you check all 4 spark plugs for condition / gap. ? What plugs were fitted? One coil replaced might not be all that did need replacing.
  23. It is an aerial. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/348909-whats-the-thin-line-down-my-windscreen http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/186723-aerial-in-front-windscreen-on-my-11-fabia-se-why Heated screen. Never seen or heard of one on a Mk2 Fabia. There are these threads. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/408867-windscreen-options-heated-etc http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/478571-mk2-heated-windscreen
  24. Sitting pressing the accelerator when in Park is not a good idea.
